    No full text
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two service techniques, namely flat serve and spin serve, on direct point acquisition in a simulated tennis match situation. The subjects of the study consisted of 20 male junior tennis players, aged 14–16 years, who were divided into two groups based on service technique. Each group was to use one type of serve consistently during three sets of simulated matches. The variables observed included the number of direct points, service speed, accuracy, rally length, and number of double faults. The results of the independent t-test analysis showed that the flat serve group scored a higher average direct points mean, 9.2; SD = 2.15, than the spin serve group mean, 6.8; SD 1.69, with a t-value = 2.74; p = 0.013. Supporting analysis also showed that the flat serve had higher speed, while the spin serve was superior in accuracy and rally duration. These findings indicate that the flat serve is more effective for a fast point scoring strategy, while the spin serve is more suitable for long rallies and game control. Therefore, coaches are advised to integrate service variation training as part of the development of athletes’ playing strategies.

    No full text
Cardiorespiratory fitness refers to the integrated ability of the cardiovascular system with the respiratory system to provide oxygen to body tissues and is measured through VO₂max parameters. This variable is related to gender, abdominal circumference, and Body Mass Index (BMI). This cross-sectional study was analytical and involved 43 students as subjects selected by purposive sampling technique. Data were analysed descriptively and analytically using frequency distribution and chi-square test. The majority of the subjects were female (72%), with a mean abdominal circumference of 78.84 cm and included low risk (53%), a mean BMI of 24.88 and included normal (56%), and a mean VO2 max of 11:02 including a very poor category (72%). Correlation tests of gender, abdominal circumference, and BMI with VO2max showed p values of (p=0.000); (p=0.019) and (p=0.645) respectively, which means that there are differences in cardiorespiratory fitness between men and women; there is a statistically significant relationship between abdominal circumference and VO2max level and there is no statistically significant relationship between BMI and VO2max level.  Exploration of the biological mechanisms behind gender disparities and the influence of body fat distribution on VO₂max needs to be studied longitudinally, in addition to testing the effectiveness of integrated interventions in improving the aerobic capacity of at-risk populations.

    No full text
This study aims to determine the relationship between aerobic dance intensity and blood pressure reduction in active elderly women who routinely participate in community exercise programs. The research design used is correlational with a quantitative approach. The sample consists of members of the aerobic dance community in Taman Pakui Sayang (TPS), Makassar, comprising 20 elderly women aged 45–59 years who participate in aerobic dance at least twice a week for 8 weeks. Data were collected through blood pressure measurements before and after the intervention, as well as monitoring exercise intensity using the Borg RPE (Rating of Perceived Exertion) Scale. The results of the analysis showed a significant negative correlation between aerobic dance intensity and a decrease in systolic with r = -0.62; p = 0.001 and diastolic (r = -0.55; p = 0.004) blood pressure. These findings indicate that the higher the intensity of the exercise performed, the greater the decrease in blood pressure that occurs. Thus, moderate to high intensity aerobic dance can be an effective non-pharmacological strategy in the management of hypertension in elderly women.

PETTLEP visualization is a mental training method that uses visualization techniques with a focus on seven main components: Physic, Environment, Task, Timing, Learning, Emotion, and Perspective. This practice aims to create a mental image that closely resembles the real situation during an activity or competition, helping to improve an athlete\u27s performance and psychological aspects such as confidence and stress management. This study aims to determine the effect of PETTLEP-based visualization training on increasing the self-confidence of pencak silat athletes. Self-confidence is an important psychological aspect that influences an athlete\u27s ability to manage stress, make the right decisions, and display optimal performance during competitions. The research method used a one-group pretest-posttest design with a sample of 13 athletes. The instrument used was a self-confidence questionnaire completed before and after the PETTLEP visualization intervention. The results of the descriptive analysis showed an increase in the average score from 32.15 in the pretest to 35.54 in the posttest. The normality test showed that the data were normally distributed, while the paired t-test showed a significance value of 0.000, confirming a difference in scores before and after the treatment. These findings prove that PETTLEP visualization training is effective in increasing the self-confidence of pencak silat athletes by helping them build stronger mental readiness, focus, and self-confidence. Therefore, PETTLEP visualization training is recommended for implementation in pencak silat athlete development programs.

The objective of this study was to determine the influence of the Kahoot application on students’ learning achievements in the Indonesian language subject of modern poetry text material for class VIII at SMP Sinar Husni. In this study, the researcher used a quantitative research method with an experimental research type with a quasi-experimental design. This type of research involves the application of a specific treatment or manipulation of an independent variable (X) to examine its causal effect on the dependent variable (Y). Quasi-experimental research is a type of research that aims to test the causal relationship between variables but does not use random assignments to form experimental and control groups. The results of this study clearly prove that the use of Kahoot evaluation media has a positive and significant effect on the learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Sinar Husni, especially on the material of modern poetry texts in Indonesian language lessons. A significant increase in the average posttest score in the experimental group using Kahoot, as well as support from the results of statistical tests (normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing), indicate that Kahoot is more effective than conventional evaluation methods. In addition, students’ positive responses to the use of Kahoot, as reflected in the results of the questionnaire, indicate that this platform is able to create a more interesting and motivating learning atmosphere. Therefore, Kahoot has proven to be an effective innovation in overcoming student boredom and encouraging increased learning outcomes on previously less popular materials
