Dataset for: Future water temperature of rivers in Switzerland under climate change investigated with physics-based models
This work presents the first extensive study of climate change impacts on rivers temperature in Switzerland. Results show that even for low emissions scenarios, water temperature increase will lead to adverse effect for both ecosystems and socioeconomic sectors (such as nuclear plant cooling) throughout the 21st century. For high emissions scenarios, the effect will be worsen. This study also shows that water warming in summer will be more important in Alpine regions than in lowlands. This material is distributed under CC BY 4.0 license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode).CRYO
Kalman Filtering for a Generalized Class of Nonlinear Systems and a New Gaussian Quadrature Technique
The class of nonlinear systems treated in this technical note consists of the discrete time nonlinear systems that are formed by the interconnection of linear systems through static nonlinearities with few inputs. This special structure is exploited to reduce the dimension of the integrals involved in the propagation of mean values and covariances, thus permitting accurate calculations. Furthermore, a new quadrature scheme suitable for nonlinear Kalman filtering is introduced. The proposed techniques are applied to a seven-dimensional numerical example. The results show that they can increase the performance significantly.ST

Artifacts of the colour coherence vector and an alternative similarity measure
Image similarity measures can be used to capture useful structure in video processing. In this paper one popular variation, the colour coherence vector, is discussed. It is shown to perform poorly for certain tasks and a simpler, but more effective alternative is proposed. This alternative is examined for the initial task of anchor person spotting in news broadcasts, and extended to generic interview detection.LIDIA
Active Online Anomaly Detection using Dirichlet Process Mixture Model and Gaussian Process Classification
We present a novel anomaly detection (AD) system for streaming videos. Different from prior methods that rely on unsupervised learning of clip representations, that are usually coarse in nature, and batch-mode learning, we propose the combination of two non-parametric models for our task: i) Dirichlet process mixture models (DPMM) based modeling of object motion and directions in each cell, and ii) Gaussian process based active learning paradigm involving labeling by a domain expert. Whereas conventional clip representation methods adopt quantizing only motion directions leading to a lossy, coarse representation that are inadequate, our clip representation approach results in fine grained clusters at each cell that model the scene activities (both direction and speed) more effectively. For active anomaly detection, we adapt a Gaussian Process framework to process incoming samples (video snippets) sequentially, seek labels for confusing or informative samples and update the AD model online. Furthermore, the proposed video representation along with a novel query criterion to select informative samples for labeling that incorporates both exploration and exploitation criteria is proposed, and is found to outperform competing criteria on two challenging traffic scene datasets.LIDIA
Artificial Intelligence in Musculoskeletal Imaging: Review of Current Literature, Challenges, and Trends
Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained major attention with a rapid increase in the number of published articles, mostly recently. This review provides a general understanding of how AI can or will be useful to the musculoskeletal radiologist. After a brief technical background on AI, machine learning, and deep learning, we illustrate, through examples from the musculoskeletal literature, potential AI applications in the various steps of the radiologist's workflow, from managing the request to communication of results. The implementation of AI solutions does not go without challenges and limitations. These are also discussed, as well as the trends and perspectives.LTS
