Schizophrenia in Filmic Territory The Cases of Psychose, Shining and Fight Club
From its beginnings to the present day, cinema, always in search of the extraordinary and the fascinating, has dealt with the theme of madness. Whether he's a mad scientist in Doctor Mabuse (1922) by Fritz Lang, or Frankenstein (1935) by James Whale, or whether he's a psycho or sociopath in Psycho (1960) by Hitchcock or The Shining (1980) of Kubrick, the examples are innumerable. In this paper, we will deal with schizophrenia in cinema. First, we will try to identify the sociological, economic and aesthetic elements that have aroused the interest of cinema for this disease. Then, and through the film analysis of three films (Psycho, Shining, Fight Club), we will see how the directors were able to make it attractive to the public. Finally, we will conclude with the theme of the “double as same” in cinema.
Concrete Answers to Established Facts Finding the Circle of Influence
Philosophy poses the fundamental questions; Science tries to answer it when Literature shows all the possible past, present and future. However, at the crossroads of methodologies and schools of thought, academics are absolutely not immune to the perpetual intellectual tensions that cross their disciplines intermittently. This is why they then refer to the circle of influence. Forced to objectively develop a complete reflection on their power to act, they are bathed in the primacy of questioning which, far from liberating them, imprisons them. To what extent can the Socratic dialogue concretely and reasonably make it possible to reflect on the academic being within the international scientific community in the absence of real
intellectual emancipation? A single requirement: concrete answers to established facts.
