    Cobald Part B - Brand Portfolio Optimization for a Business-to-Business Technology Brand

David Danes is the founder and CEO of Cobald Group, a business-to-business (B-to-B) technology company headquartered in Brussels (Belgium) operating in web hosting, domain names, and cloud-based solutions. It reported an all-time high revenue of EUR47.3M and profit of EUR11.5M for 2024 thanks to a strong growth of +31% for cloud-based solutions and a stable demand of 1% for domain names, but despite a decrease of 3-4% for web hosting for the third consecutive year. In the last two decades, the company significantly accelerated its activities domestically and internationally. It grew domestically by taking over the Belgian web hosting activities of BlueHosting in 2003 due to a bankruptcy of the parent company. It also grew internationally by acquiring the specialist in standardized offers for small and medium business customers and the fourth-largest player in the Danish market Fastcom in 2017, followed by acquiring the specialist in highly customizable web hosting and cloud services for medium and large business customers and third-largest player in the Danish market ODomain in 2019. Finally, in 2022, it acquired HollandOnline, the market leader for small and medium business customers in the Netherlands. Given the company's decline in market share in the web hosting market, David wants to analyze the company's current brand portfolio, identify opportunities for building a brand architecture and leveraging associations, and get a clear recommendation how to proceed

    Analyse de corrélations temporelles entre différentes données météorologiques via la sonification

    Sonification et design d’interactions sonores : synthèse, spatialisation, réalités virtuelle et augmentée; GSAM - Acoustique MusicaleNational audienceLes lacs et les mers fermées présentent des modes de résonance appelées seiches à des périodes de quelques minutes à quelques heures (intermédiaires entre la houle et les marées). La caractérisation de ces modes permet une meilleure modélisation des tsunamis. En dehors des évènements extrêmes, ces mêmes modes peuvent être excités à de faibles amplitudes par différents phénomènes météorologiques, notamment la pression atmosphérique, la vitesse et la direction du vent à la surface de la mer. L'idée de ce travail est d'employer des méthodes de sonification pour la présentation et l'analyse de séries temporelles issues d'enregistrements récents en mer de Marmara (Turquie) et de donnés météororologiques réanalysées. Dans cette intervention, nous présentons une tentative de sonification pour permettre d'identifier, à l'écoute, des corrélations temporelles entre ces différentes données. Les séries temporelles de pression au fond de la mer (qui ont enregistré les seiches) sont présentées via de l'audification (accélération des formes d'onde récoltées) et les données concernant le vent sont transformées en son via une méthode de mapping (mise en correspondance des paramètres des données avec des paramètres audio). Nous décrivons un test perceptif où les auditeur·ices doivent évaluer la corrélation entre les sons issus de la pression au fond de la mer et ceux issus du vent, dans différentes situations (synchronisation/désynchronisation, seuil d'amplitude pour déclencher la sonification, différents jeux de données ou points de mesure, ...)

    The Case Centre, case study 125-0039-1, teaching note 125-0039-8This case study presents a role-play exercise in which students take on the roles of junior traders at Bright Side No Cloud Asset Management, a fictional investment firm that has recently acquired a Bloomberg Terminal for its trading unit. The department supervisor, represented by the instructor, assigns students a task via email: to explore the Bloomberg Terminal, with a particular focus on its back-testing features (BT and BTST functions). Students must design trading strategies of their choice and back-test them on multiple securities. This case is designed to enhance students' problem-solving abilities in a real-world financial setting, with a primary focus on developing proficiency in using the Bloomberg Terminal. Through hands-on experience, students engage with essential financial concepts, refine their analytical skills, and deepen their understanding of trading strategy evaluation

    Toward Holistic Stakeholder Engagement: Integrating Participation, Inclusion, and Democracy

    International audienceResearch on the manifestations and hurdles of stakeholder engagement remains scant and fragmented. In this introduction to the Special Issue on stakeholder engagement, we conceptualize the concept through three related modes: participation, inclusion, and democracy. Each mode reflects different aspects of stakeholder engagement, generating benefits for both organizations and their stakeholders. Yet, each mode also faces challenges. We propose an integrative framework that unifies these modes of stakeholder engagement, emphasizing areas of synergy and potential conflict. The article concludes by advancing directions for future business and society research on stakeholder engagement

Through the case, learners work with spreadsheet modeling and compute key financial indicators to assess each financing alternative.     International audienceThis chapter investigates the critical role of individual agency within organizations when addressing grand societal challenges such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability. Traditionally viewed as systemic and institutional issues, grand challenges often overshadow the influence and contributions of individuals within organizations. The author argues for a shift toward recognizing individual actors—employees, middle managers, and informal leaders—as central to organizational responses to these complex issues. Through examining the motivations driving individual agency, including personal values, peer influences, and institutional pressures, the chapter highlights various pathways by which individuals can initiate and sustain organizational change. It further discusses formal and informal leadership roles employees assume to advocate for or implement social and environmental practices. The analysis also acknowledges barriers to change, such as resistance rooted in fear, ideological opposition, or structural constraints. By emphasizing a distributed and collective leadership approach, the chapter contributes to a nuanced understanding of how individual agency bridges institutional pressures and localized organizational actions, ultimately facilitating meaningful responses to grand challenges

    La géothermie profonde dans les Hauts-de-France : un levier pour la transition énergétique

    International audienceThe Hauts-de-France region, with its strong mining legacy, contains deep Devonian (Givetian–Frasnian) and Carboniferous (Dinantian) limestone formations with significant yet largely untapped geothermal potential. This study assesses the geothermal prospects of these fractured and karstified reservoirs, particularly the Dinantian limestones, which provide favourable conditions for direct-use hydro- thermal applications. Recent reprocessing and interpretation of historical seismic data, integrated into a 3D geometric model, have refined the understanding of these reservoirs, revealed their structural complexity, and identified major fractured zones associated with regional fault systems. Local thermal anomalies have been reported, but they have not yet been studied in detail, leaving the regional geothermal potential largely under-explored. Similar to initiatives across the Belgian border, urban projects in Lille Metropole, Douai, and Valenciennes illustrate the feasibility of integrating this resource into sustainable energy systems, contributing both to regional energy independence and economic revitalization. These results highlight the importance of pursuing further exploration and charac- terization, and of relying on interdisciplinary approaches and advanced drilling techniques, to support the sustainable development of deep geothermal energy in the Hauts-de-France region.La région des Hauts-de-France, marquée par un riche passé minier, recèle en profondeur des roches calcaires datées du Dévo- nien (Givétien-Frasnien) et du Carbonifère (Dinantien) présentant un potentiel géothermique largement inexploité. Cette étude examine les perspectives offertes par ces réservoirs fracturés et karstifiés, en particulier les calcaires dinantiens, favorables aux applications géothermiques directes dans des systèmes hydrothermaux. Les récents résultats issus des travaux de retraitement et d’interprétation de données sismiques historiques des campagnes d’exploration pétrolières des années 80 et leur intégration au sein d’un modèle géométrique 3D conduisent à affiner la compréhension des réservoirs, de révéler leur complexité structurale et d’identifier des zones fracturées majeures associées aux grandes failles régionales. Des anomalies thermiques locales ont été rencontrées mais n’ont pas fait l’objet d’étude permettant de développer un potentiel géothermique largement sous-exploré. À l’instar de ce qui se fait de l’autre côté de la frontière franco-belge, les initiatives menées dans des contextes urbains tels que la métropole lilloise (ou MEL, Métropole Européenne de Lille), le Douaisis et le Valenciennois illustrent la faisabilité d’intégrer cette ressource dans des solutions énergétiques durables, contribuant à l’indépendance énergétique régionale et à la revitalisation économique. Les résultats obtenus soulignent l’importance de poursuivre les efforts d’exploration et de caractérisation, et de recourir à des approches interdisciplinaires et à des techniques de forage adaptées pour favoriser le développement durable de la géothermie profonde dans les Hauts-de-France
