EPIGENETIC STUDY AS A NEW APPROACH FOR THERAPEUTICS AND BIOMARKER OF ATHEROSCLEROSIS IN COVID-19
Introduction : Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has affected more than 105 million people globally and resulted in at least 2.3 million deaths. Covid-19 has highlighted the vulnerability of aging populations to emerging diseases. This susceptibility to disease and death is also a major challenge for the development of vaccines and immunotherapeutic agents. Atherosclerosis is one of the main cardiovascular disease, and this disease is one of the most common comorbid diseases affected by Covid-19 and is associated with increased risk of mortality. Biomarker are crucial in decision-making in order to facilitate efficient resource allocation. Recently many researcher develop several biomarker as a new approach in epigenetic area. The discovery of new therapeutic targets as well as biomarkers using epigenetic studies may increase its clinical usefulness. Methods: In this narrative review, a search was carried out with the help of several search engines that match the criteria, namely "Epigenetic Studies Based On Cardiovascular Disease Especially In Atherosclerosis".Results: One paper was obtained that supports and fits the criteria, namely the role of miRNA in the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. Conclusion: miR-486-5p can be used as a new therapeutic target and biomarker in atherosclerosis patients, but this requires further researc
CORRELATION BETWEEN EXCLUSIVE BREASTFEEDING IN GROUP OF EARLY INITIATION OF BREASTFEEDING ON THE DURATION OF LACTATIONAL AMENORRHEA
Introduction: Based on data from "Survei Demografi dan Kesehatan Indonesia" (SDKI) in2012, about four percent of births occurred 18 months apart, and six percent were less thantwo years apart, about 75 percent occurred at least three years apart. WHO’s recommendation for birth spacing is at least 24 months. A gestation interval of fewer than six months can increase maternal mortality due to premature rupture of the amniotic sac, anemia, and puerperal endometritis. The Lactational Amenorrhea Method is a natural and easy method of contraception. The LAM method is one of the contraceptive methods with a success rate of 98 percent. One of the importance of contraception, such as LAM, is to adjust the optimal birth spacing. Purpose: This study aims to determine the correlation between exclusive breastfeeding in agroup of early initiation of breastfeeding on the duration of lactational amenorrhea. Method: This study is an observational analytic study with a retrospective cohort studydesign. A simple random sampling technique is used for the sampling method. The collectionof data on the history of breastfeeding and the duration of amenorrhea was collected from the main research results by doing interviews with respondents. Results: The results of statistical tests with Spearman correlation showed that the P-valueobtained is 0.005. This value is less than p (0.05), which means a significant correlationbetween exclusive breastfeeding and the duration of lactational amenorrhea. Conclusion: There is a significant correlation between exclusive breastfeeding in the earlyinitiation of the breastfeeding group and the duration of lactation amenorrhea
POLYMORPHISM OF INTERLEUKIN-10 (-819) GENE IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH LIVER DAMAGE AMONG CHRONIC HEPATITIS B PATIENTS
Introduction: Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is characterized by chronic liver inflammation andhepatocellular damage caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV), leading to fatal liver diseases such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Liver damage causes elevated levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT). Previous studies have shown that IL-10 gene polymorphism (-819 C/T) is linked to several diseases, including inflammatory, autoimmune diseases, and cancer. Purpose: To investigate the relationship between IL-10 gene polymorphisms (-819 C/T) and liver damages in chronic hepatitis B patients at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital, RiauProvince.Method: This study was an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. Liver damages were examined by measuring ALT levels, and IL-10 gene polymorphisms were analyzed using Amplification-Refractory Mutation System Polymerase Chain Reaction (ARMS-PCR). Results: There were 74 subjects included in this study, aged 45.47±13.42 years old, consisting of 43 males (58.1%) and 31 females (41.9%). Of 74 subjects, 35 CHB patientswere presented without complication, 26 CHB patients were complicated with cirrhosis, and 13 CHB patients were complicated with hepatoma. The genotype of the IL-10 (-819) gene polymorphism in this study was found as follows: CT genotype in 34 subjects (45.9%), TT genotype in 30 subjects (40.5%), and CC genotype in 10 subjects (13.5%). There was nosignificant relationship between IL-10 gene polymorphisms (- 819) and liver damage inchronic hepatitis B patients (p> 0.05).Conclusion: IL-10 gene polymorphism (-819) may not contribute to liver damages amongCHB patients
