    International audience"Chinese wisdom" is based on the principles of mutual benefit, equality, respect for cultural diversity and the pursuit of joint development between China and its partners in the Digital Silk Road. This is a new approach to regional and international digital cooperation, distinct from traditional western models.This presentation will explore the legal and strategic mechanisms put in place to export Chinese governance of digital technologies beyond China's borders, in particular through local development projects (cloud computing, 5G deployment or surveillance systems, etc.). However, countries adopting Chinese technologies often have to align their local regulations with those advocated by China, which can create friction with existing laws and regulations. Also, this talk will address the legal and political challenges associated with China’s export strategy, including concerns about digital sovereignty, data protection and cybersecurity

    A Survey of De Casteljau Algorithms and Regular Iterative Constructions of Bézier Curves with Control Mass Points

    International audienceDrawing a curve on a computer actually involves approximating it by a set of segments. The De Casteljau algorithm allows to construct these piecewise linear curves which approximate polynomial Béziercurves using convex combinations. However, for rational Bézier curves,the construction no longer admits regular sampling. To solve thisproblem, we propose a generalization of the De Casteljau algorithmthat addresses this issue and is applicable to Bézier curves withmass points (a weighted point or a vector) as control points and using a homographic parameter change dividing the interval [0,1]\begin{bmatrix}0,1\end{bmatrix} into two equal-length intervals [0,12]\begin{bmatrix}0,\frac{1}{2}\end{bmatrix} and [12,1]\begin{bmatrix}\frac{1}{2},1\end{bmatrix} . If the initial Bézier curve is in standard form, we obtain two curves in standard form, unless the mass endpoint of the curve is a vector. This homographic parameter change also allows transforming curves defined over an interval [α,+]\begin{bmatrix}\alpha,+\infty \end{bmatrix}, \alpha\in \r, into Bézier curves, which then enables the use of the De Casteljau algorithm. Some examples are given: three-quart of circle, semicircle and a branch of a hyperbola (degree 22), cubic curve on [0;+]\begin{bmatrix}0;+\infty \end{bmatrix} and loop of a Descartes Folium (degree 33) and a loop of a Bernouilli Lemniscate (degree 44)

    An information-theoretic perspective of physical adversarial patches

    International audienceReal-world adversarial patches were shown to be successful in compromising state-of-the-art models in various computer vision applications. Most existing defenses rely on analyzing input or feature level gradients to detect the patch. However, these methods have been compromised by recent GAN-based attacks that generate naturalistic patches. In this paper, we propose a new perspective to defend against adversarial patches based on the entropy carried by the input, rather than on its saliency. We present Jedi, a new defense against adversarial patches that tackles the patch localization problem from an information theory perspective; leveraging the high entropy of adversarial patches to identify potential patch zones, and using an autoencoder to complete patch regions from high entropy kernels.Jedi achieves high-precision adversarial patch localization and removal, detecting on average 90% of adversarial patches across different benchmarks, and recovering up to 94% of successful patch attacks. Since Jedi relies on an input entropy analysis, it is model-agnostic, and can be applied to off-the-shelf models without changes to the training or inference of the models. Moreover, we propose a comprehensive qualitative analysis that investigates the cases where Jedi fails, comparatively with related methods. Interestingly, we find a significant core failure cases among the different defenses share one common property: high entropy. We think that this work offers a new perspective to understand the adversarial effect under physical-world settings. We also leverage these findings to enhance Jedi’s handling of entropy outliers by introducing Adaptive Jedi, which boosts performance by up to 9% in challenging images

    Vers l'acceptation d'une interface utilisateur pour manipuler un exosquelette en rééducation à la marche post-AVC

    International audienceStroke is the leading cause of acquired disability in France. The after-effects of stroke are numerous and varied and require rehabilitation. These include hemiparesis, which leads to motor difficulties in walking. In this context, the RehabByExo project aims to develop an exoskeleton allowing rehabilitation for early gait rehabilitation. This work in progress begins with a state of the art on exoskeletons and their need for user interfaces to control them. The user-centered approach proposed and implemented is then described. Several iterations were necessary to propose a user interface. This work in progress shows the difficulty of proposing acceptable user interfaces in the medical field when the use of the product is not yet in practice and even though quality is essential for acceptance by the patient and the physiotherapist. Future work in the short term as well as research perspectives are then presented.L’AVC représente la première cause de handicap acquis en France. Les séquelles dues aux AVC sont nombreuses et variées et font l’objet de rééducation. Parmi ces séquelles on retrouve l’hémiparésie qui entraîne des troubles moteurs de la marche. Dans ce contexte, le projet RehabByExo vise à développer un exosquelette permettant une rééducation au plus tôt de la marche. Ce travail en cours propose dans un premier temps un état de l’art sur les exosquelettes et leur besoin en interfaces utilisateurs pour ce qui est de leur pilotage. L’approche centrée utilisateur proposée et mise en place est ensuite décrite. Plusieurs itérations ont été nécessaires pour proposer une interface utilisateur. Ce travail en cours montre la difficulté de proposer des interfaces utilisateurs acceptables dans le domaine médical quand l’usage du produit n’est pas encore dans les pratiques et alors même que la qualité est essentielle pour l’acceptation par le patient et le kiné. Les travaux à venir à court terme ainsi que les perspectives de recherche sont ensuite présentés
