Visual Heritage and Motion Design: The Graphic-Cultural Legacy of Saul Bass’s Title Sequences
Opening titles are more than introductory devices supporting the film they have been produced for; they are artistic and cultural artefacts with a powerful visual identity. Among the most emblematic figures in this design field, the graphic and motion designer Saul Bass (1920–1996) pioneered an approach that redefined the identity, the design, and the experience of cinematic title sequences, opening a path of experimentation aimed at bridging visual communication, moving images, stylistic innovation, and aesthetic synaesthesia, through a combination of sound, movement, and image into a single expressive unit. This article investigates Bass’s contribution through a historical-critical and comparative lens, reconstructing the network of artistic and technological influences that shaped his design philosophy. It analyzes a selection of Bass’s title sequences, highlights his connection to European modernism, and identifies the seeds of postmodern culture in several aspects of Bass’s work such as the merging of principles coming from design and animation studies, the ambition for technological experimentation, and the openness towards a mass audience. By framing Bass’s creative legacy as a form of visual heritage, the article examines the ways in which his kinetic typography and moving compositions can be, therefore, recognized as resources for art historians, media scholars, designers, and visual communication theorists to track down the first and impactful aesthetic and narrative experiments conducted in the postmodern and contemporary motion graphic design field

Evaluation of Anti-inflammatory Activity of Microwave Extracts of Thymus Algeriensis: In Vitro, in Vivo and in Silico Studies
The objective of this work is to study the anti-inflammatory effect in vitro and in vivo of microwave extracts (MW) of Thymus algeriensis. The in vitro study was performed by the human red blood cell protection test, while the in vivo study used the carragee-nan-induced rat paw edema model. The experimental results were confirmed by a molec-ular docking calculation. The results indicated that all microwave extracts have a moder-ate anti-inflammatory effect, depending on their richness in phenolic compounds. Among the extracts studied, the one obtained at 100 °C for 15 min exhibited the most pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, with an inhibition of 78.52%, which is attributed to its high fla-vonoid content. In particular, the flavonoids naringine and catechin showed the best af-finity for the target protein, with values of −10.3 kcal/mol and −9.2 kcal/mol, respectively, as well as low inhibition constants of 0.028 μM and 0.18 μM. These results indicate that these flavonoids generate interactions that enhance the stability of the target lig-and-protein complex, thus contributing to the observed anti-inflammatory effect
Acoustic Switch based on Rotatable Sonic Crystal with Multiresonant Scatterers
This research introduces an acoustic switch based on a Sonic Crystal (SC)
containing multiresonant scatterers. The SC operates in a square 2D lattice
configuration with scatterers containing Helmholtz resonators (HRs) tuned
to di!erent frequencies. By rotating all scatterers by 90°, the interaction
between the Bragg bandgaps (Bragg BGs) and the HRs’ BGs can be mod-
ified, allowing selective frequency filtering and control of wave propagation.
Although SCs operating at low frequencies have been widely investigated,
the implementation of reconfigurable acoustic switches in the low-to-mid fre-
quency range (500–2500 Hz) remains scarce. This is one of the novelties
highlighted in the present study. The simplicity and cost-e!ectiveness of
the 3D-printed structure, coupled with its hollow design that minimizes ab-
sorption, enhances its practicality. Experimental validation conducted in
an anechoic chamber shows a significant change in acoustic insulation per-
formance, with a maximum contrast ratio of 20 dB. This design opens up
new possibilities for noise reduction in urban and industrial environments,
adaptive acoustic environments, acoustic sensors, and even acoustic energy
harvesting

Clinical recommendations for early identification of patients with open‐angle glaucoma at higher risk of low adherence to topical treatment: An Italian Delphi consensus
Purpose It is important for clinicians to identify patients with glaucoma at higher risk of poor adherence to topical therapy at an early stage to prescribe alternative treatments. An expert-based set of statements was developed to assist clinicians in the early identification of patients at high risk of low adherence and subsequent poorer clinical outcomes.Methods A two-step strategy was used. First, statements were developed by a panel of experts using data from a literature search as a starting point. Second, we measured agreement with the statements in a representative group of ophthalmologists managing patients affected by glaucoma.Results A total of 18 statements and consensus was reached for all. The available evidence and clinical experience have identified some subpopulations at high risk of poor adherence. These include young individuals with competing interests, being frequently away from home, multiple comorbidities and particularly when they affect joint function of the hands or cognitive abilities, being asymptomatic, and being poorly informed about the severity of the disease. The unavailability of caregivers and living alone seems to be relevant factors, particularly in older and more frail patients.Conclusion Taken together our results allow us to profile patients with glaucoma who will be more likely to show poor adherence to topical treatments. Moreover, the consensus statements can be used to identify patients who are unsuitable for topical drops and who would benefit more from alternative treatments
