Get PDFNils Månsson Mandelgren och kampen för kulturens framtid är en antologi med syftet att ge nya perspektiv på Mandelgrens omfattande livsverk. Hittills har forskningen främst haft fokus på hans dokumentation av äldre kulturyttringar, men hans stridbarhet och oräddhet i att utmana etablissemanget hade sikte på hur samtidens och framtidens kulturinstitutioner borde utformas och organiseras. I boken diskuteras vad Mandelgren faktiskt uppnådde i sitt arbete för utvecklingen av museiväsendet, kulturminnesvården och konst- och hantverksutbildningarna i Sverige. Här framgår också hur Mandelgren som enskild person med stor energi och övertygelse lyckades driva sina idéer och projekt med hjälp av ett vittförgrenat nätverk i flera europeiska länder. The Representation of the Spanish Metropolis in the Cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and Ventura Pons: Urban change and global habitat
Get PDFHow does the gradual transformation of the Spanish metropolis from 1980 to 2013 reflect not only concurrent socio-political changes in contemporary Spain, but also the increasingly fluid space that is the global urban habitat of today? And how can unfixed gender identities and an altered human anatomy in the cinema of Pedro Almodóvar and, to some extent, Ventura Pons be viewed as metaphors for thechanging city in which this transformed individual lives? The fluid body and identity of the on-screen transvestite and transsexual occupies a third space located somewhere between the traditionally male and female. The body becomes a construct that mirrors the increasingly artificial and dual cinematic city where the scale replica often replaces the real urban space.
This thesis thus analyses the cities of Madrid and Barcelona in films by both filmmakers as spaces that are becoming ever more abstract, fluid, complex and artificial as globalization takes a hold of our postmodern era. The films explored are considered important visual documents that reflect not only Spain’s move from dictatorship to democracy, but also the transformation of the Spanish and Catalan capitals and the move from concrete urban habitat to a more abstract global space – which is not always entirely Hispanic in feel. It is therefore to be concluded that Spain both on- and off screen, is becoming ever more outward-looking in perspective. In the analysis of films spanning from the 1980s to date, the thesis argument revolves primarily around Zygmunt Bauman’s theories on postmodern liquid societies and related theories applicable to postmodernity and the urban environment by cultural geography scholar David Harvey. With regard to fluid gender representations in the cinema analyzed, Judith Butler’s views on gender performativity will be linked to the Develuzian concept of becoming, which again relates to Bauman’s more all-encompassing idea of a liquid global society defined by its overall lack of stability and constant motion.

Urgent action is imperative to address these issues, necessitating a fundamental transformation in food production and distribution methods, particularly considering escalating urbanization trends.
Urban agriculture plays a crucial role by repurposing city spaces for farming, preserving natural environments beyond urban boundaries, and providing local food access to consumers. Rooftop greenhouses emerge as a particularly promising solution in temperate and cold climates, extending the growing season for various vegetables such as tomatoes, salads, herbs, and cucumbers, even during the winter months. Additionally, rooftop greenhouses facilitate water harvesting and maximize the utilization of free sunlight, covering approximately half of their lighting requirements. Furthermore, they contribute to energy efficiency by reducing heating and cooling demands for both the greenhouse itself and the host building.

Connecting Teachers – Changing from Within: Proceedings from the 2024 Lund University Conference on Teaching and Learning
No full textThe 2024 Lund University Conference on Teaching and Learning, hosted by MedCUL and the Division for Higher Education Development (AHU), took place in the newly inaugurated Forum Medicum – an environment purposefully designed to inspire connection, collaboration, and exchange. The venue’s open architecture mirrored the conference theme, Connecting teachers – changing from within, underscoring the relationship between space, dialogue, and pedagogical development work. With nearly 280 participants, this was the largest edition of the biannual conference to date. New initiatives, such as pre-conference workshops and active student participation, contributed to a dynamic and inclusive atmosphere. The contributions collected in these proceedings demonstrate the diversity and depth of ongoing pedagogical development across the university. They explore ways in which higher education can be continuously reimagined through collaboration, reflective practice, and responsiveness to societal and technological change.
