Safeguarding Children's Welfare in Sport: (N)Ever-developing zone? In: Conference proceedings book, Saint-Petersburg State University Institute of Philosophy Department of Ethics, pp 446-447, St. Petersburg, Russia November 20–22, 2025
This presentation aims to address critical aspects, trajectories and (under)developments in child protection and welfare (CWP) in sport. Specific examples provided e.g. from research to justice system as well as comparisons from past to present, as the subject being the researcher's longitidunal field study, insights provided include but not limited to auto-ethnographic reflections. The conditions for the safeguarding children's welfare in sport are discussed according to aforementioned various social data. The CWP structures and experiences today, whether framed as developed or not, are not independent from the current qualities of political, economic, legal or any other impactful social domain in or beyond sport. Sport fields can be highly culture specific and inconsistent; despite the attempts of globalization movement for different agendas, we cannot call that there is such homogenization aimed and developed well to stop children's exploitation. The complexity, vulnerabilities as well as the critical role of agency remain high in such context. Lack of systematic research, collaboration and coordination remain at both local and international levels, and these issues should be resolved as well.</p

Evaluation of root canal filling length on periapical radiograph using artificial intelligence
Objectives: This work proposes a novel method to evaluate root canal filling (RCF) success using artificial intelligence (AI) and image analysis techniques. Methods: 1121 teeth with root canal treatment in 597 periapical radiographs (PARs) were anonymized and manually labeled. First, RCFs were segmented using 5 different state-of-the-art deep learning models based on convolutional neural networks. Their performances were compared based on the intersection over union (IoU), dice score and accuracy. Additionally, fivefold cross validation was applied for the best-performing model and their outputs were later used for further analysis. Secondly, images were processed via a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows dental clinicians to mark the apex of the tooth, which was used to find the distance between the apex of the tooth and the nearest RCF prediction of the deep learning model towards it. The distance can show whether the RCF is normal, short or long. Results: Model performances were evaluated by well-known evaluation metrics for segmentation such as IoU, Dice score and accuracy. CNN-based models can achieve an accuracy of 88%, an IoU of 79% and Dice score of 88% in segmenting root canal fillings. Conclusions: Our study demonstrates that AI-based solutions present accurate and reliable performance for root canal filling evaluation
The Effect of the Morning-Evening Situations of Students who Have Taken a Degree in School Sports on Their Conscious Mindfulness Levels Okul Sporlarında Dereceye Girmiş Öğrencilerin Sabahçıl-Akşamcıl Durumlarının Bilinçli Farkındalık Düzeylerine Etkisi
The research was conducted with the aim of examining the effect of the morning and evening mood of the students who ranked in the star category of school sports on their conscious mindfulness levels. Relational scanning method was applied in the research. The sample of the research consists of a total of 475 students, 231 of whom are female and 244 of whom are male, who have ranked in the star category in school sports in Gaziantep in the 2021–2022 academic year and agreed to participate in the research. In the study, data were collected using a personal information form, Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire (MEQ) and Comprehensive Mindfulness Experiences Inventory for Adolescents (CMEIFA). In the study, statistically significant differences were obtained in favor of female students in the mindfulness of internal experience, acting with mindfulness and insightful understanding dimensions of the comprehensive inventory of mindfulness experiences for adolescents, and in favor of those interested in team sports in the dimension of mindfulness of external experience according to the sport type variable. Statistically, no differences were found between the groups in terms of their morning-evening status according to gender and the type of sports they do. According to the students morningness-eveningness status, a statistically significant difference was detected between the groups in the dimensions of acting with mindfulness, decentralization and unresponsiveness of the comprehensive inventory of mindfulness experiences for adolescents. As a result, it can be said that gender and sport type variables lead to differences in terms of conscious mindfulness, they do not affect morning-evening states, morning-evening type states affect conscious mindfulness, and there are statistical relationships between morning-evening states and conscious mindfulness levels
The role of aluminum doping and annealing on ZnO films: Physical and mechanical analysis
ZnO thin films hold immense technological significance across a range of applications, encompassing electronics, optics, sensors, and energy devices. Therefore, enhancing both their mechanical properties and opto-electronic properties stands as an imperative endeavor. In this line, this study has been performed to investigate the relationship between mechanical and physical properties of ZnO as a consequence of Aluminum doping as well as post-annealing. In this context, ZnO and 1 % Al-doped ZnO films were deposited onto glass substrates through ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP) technique and annealed at various temperatures. Aluminum doping brought about significant alteration in the crystallinity and mechanical properties of the films. Additionally, the nanoflake and rod-like morphology observed in ZnO films underwent a shift towards a granular morphology due to Al-doping. The optical transparency of the films reached a maximum of 85 % in the visible region. The optical band gap values exhibited variations within the range of 3.29–3.22 eV. Moreover, the hardness and Young's modulus values were found to be in the range of 3.20–6.96 GPa and 67.83–86.71 GPa, respectively. Electrical properties were affected by the annealing due to the change of oxygen in the film composition as well as the doping of Al. Consequently, both the annealing temperatures and Aluminum doping played pivotal roles in influencing the properties of the ZnO films
