Impact of pathological fractures on kinesiophobia and anxiety in patients with benign and benign-aggressive lower extremity bone tumors
Objectives: This study aims to evaluate kinesiophobia and anxiety levels in patients with benign and benign-aggressive bone tumors located in the lower extremities. Patients and methods: Between January 2022 and June 2024, a total of 54 patients (23 males, 31 females; mean age: 35.2±14.5 years; range, 15 to 67 years) who underwent surgery for benign and benign-aggressive bone tumors in the lower extremities were retrospectively analyzed. Of the patients, 16 developed pathological fractures and 38 did not. Kinesiophobia was assessed using the Tampa Kinesiophobia Scale (TKS), and anxiety levels were measured using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-I and STAI-II). Results: Pathological fractures occurred in 29.6% of cases. The most common tumor types were enchondroma (44.4%), giant cell tumor (18.5%), and aneurysmal bone cyst (11.2%). Patients with pathological fractures had significantly higher TKS, STAI-I, and STAI-II scores than those without fractures (p<0.001, p=0.034, and p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: In benign and benign-aggressive musculoskeletal lesions of the lower extremity, implementing prophylactic surgical intervention by predicting fracture risk reduces patients' levels of kinesiophobia and anxiety. Preventing pathological fractures in weight-bearing long bones allows for early mobilization, prevents fracture-related complications, and helps to preserve psychological well-being
Electrical properties, conduction mechanisms, and voltage dependent curves of interface traps, series resistance in Au/(Sn:Fe2O3)/n-Si structures using impedance measurements
In this work, electrical properties in the constructed Au/(Sn:Fe2O3)/n-Si (MIS/MOS) structures have been analyzed using impedance-spectroscopy model (ISM) in wide range frequency and voltage to get more accuracy and reliable results on the electrical parameters, interface traps (Nss or Dit) and conduction mechanisms. The doping donor-atoms (Nd), diffusion-potential (Vd), barrier-height (Φb), depletion layer width (WD) was calculated from the slope/intercept of the C−2-V plots for various frequencies. The Nss and their life/relaxation times (τ) versus voltage profiles was extracted from conductance technique. The observed some changes in these-parameters were explained by the interlayer, Rs, Nss polarization. However, while the Nss and Maxwell–Wegner polarization are usually dominate in inversion and depletion zones at lower-frequencies, Rs and interlayer dominate only at accumulation zone at higher-frequencies. The Rs vs V curves for various frequency were also extracted from the Nicollian & Brews technique. The obtained results are indicated that the interlayer, Nss, and polarization are more dominate on the ISM which is considering in calculation of electrical features

Özel Yetenekli Öğrencilerin Dijital Oyun Oynama Profilleri
Oyunlar eğlenceli olmanın yanında öğretici özelliğe de sahiptir. Bu araştırma, dijital oyunları bir eğlence-tüketim aracı değil bir yaşam deneyimi olarak görmekte olup özel yetenekli bireylerin ticari oyun oynama profillerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırmanın katılımcıları Ankara’da bilim ve sanat merkezi’ne devam eden ilkokul ve ortaokul çağındaki özel yetenekli öğrencilerdir. Öğrencilerin dijital oyun oynama profillerini ortaya koymak için tarama türünde bir çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilere bir anket uygulanmıştır. Anket demografik bilgileri içeren sorularla başlamıştır. Daha sonra öğrencilere hangi yaşta oyun oynamaya başladıkları, ne sıklıkta oyun oynadıkları, ne kadar süre oyun oynadıkları, tercih ettikleri cihazlar, en sevdikleri oyunlar, oyuna para harcama ve video üretme durumları sorulmuştur. En sevdikleri beş oyun açık uçlu, oyun videoları çekme durumları kapalı uçlu ve dereceli soru haline getirildi. Elde edilen bulgular frekans ve yüzdelik olarak sunulmuştur. Cinsiyete göre profil farkının anlamlı olup olmadığı ki-kare testi ile belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda katılımcıların dijital oyun oynama profillerinde cinsiyet faktörünün önemli etkilerinin olduğu görülmüştür. Buna göre, oyun oynama süreleri, oyun oynama sıklıkları, oyun için ücret ödeme durumları, oyun videosu çekme durumları cinsiyete göre farklılaşmaktadır. Kız ve erkek öğrencilerin tercih ettikleri oyun türlerinde farklılıklar göze çarpsa da sandbox türünde olan Minecraft oyunu ve kart oyunları hem kızlar hem de erkekler için en sevilen oyun listesinde ilk sıralarda yer almaktadır. Öğrencilerin oyun oynama tercihler göz önüne alındığında özel yetenekli öğrencilerin eğitimine entegre edilebilecek en uygun dijital oyun türleri sandbox ve kart oyunu türüdür.Beyond their entertainment value, games offer valuable learning experiences. The current study seeks to explore digital games as more than just tools for entertainment consumption; instead, they are seen as a medium for life experiences. The study aims to uncover the gaming behaviors and preferences of gifted individuals. Participants in this study include gifted primary and secondary school students who attend a science and art center in Ankara. A survey-type study was carried out to reveal the students’ digital game-playing profiles. The survey started with questions including demographic information, and asked participants questions such as what age they started playing games, how often they played games, how long they played games, their preferred devices, their favorite games, spending money on the game, and producing videos. The five favorite games were asked as open-ended questions, making game videos closed-ended and cascade questions. The findings are presented as frequency and percentage. Whether the profile difference according to gender was significant or not was determined by the chi-square test. As a result of the study, the gender factor had significant effects on the participants’ digital game-playing profiles. Accordingly, the duration of playing games, frequency of playing games, paying for games, and recording game videos differ according to gender. Although there are differences in the types of games preferred by male students and female students, the sandbox game Minecraft and card games are at the top of the list of the most popular games for both female students and male students. Considering the game-playing preferences of students, the most appropriate digital game types that can be integrated into the education of gifted students are sandbox and card game types

Large language models for generating key-feature questions in medical education
In this study, we conducted a descriptive study to evaluate the quality of KFQs generated by OpenAI’s o3 model. We developed a reusable generic prompt for KFQ generation, designed in alignment with the Medical Council of Canada’s KFQ development guidelines. We also created an evaluation metric to systematically assess the quality of the KFQs based on the KFQ development guideline. Twenty unique cardiology-focused KFQs were created using recent European Society of Cardiology guidelines as reference. Each KFQ was independently assessed by two cardiology experts using the quality checklist, with disagreements resolved by a third reviewer. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize checklist compliance and final acceptability ratings. Of the 20 KFQs, 3 (15%) were rated ‘Accept as is’ and 17 (85%) ‘Accept with minor revisions’; none required major revisions or were rejected. The overall compliance rate across checklist criteria was 93.7%, with perfect scores in domains such as key feature definition, scenario plausibility, and alignment between questions and scenarios. Lower performance was observed for inclusion of genuinely harmful ‘killer’ responses (50%), plausibility of distractors (77.8%), and active language use in phrasing the question (80%). The findings showed that an LLM, guided by a structured prompt, can generate KFQs that closely adhere to established quality standards, with most requiring only minor refinements. While expert review remains essential to ensure clinical accuracy and patient safety, AI-assisted workflows have strong potential to streamline KFQ development and enhance the scalability of CDM assessment in medical education
Türkiye'de kamu eğitim yapıları tip projelerinde mimari dönüşümün analizi (1923–2023)
Bu araştırma, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nde kamu okul projelerinin 1923–2023 arasındaki tarihsel süreç içerisinde mimari dönüşümünü ele almaktadır. Araştırma, bu dönüşümün biçimsel ve nicel yanlarını incelerken ülkenin sosyal, siyasal ve ekonomik dinamiklerinin bu dönüşümle olan ilişkilerini anlamayı ve yorumlamayı, araştırma konusunu destekleyici bir çerçeve olarak ele almaktadır. Araştırma bu özgün bakış açısıyla, mimarlık çalışmaları içinde önemli bir boşluğu doldurmaktadır. Tarihsel, nitel ve nicel yaklaşımları bir araya getiren birleşik bir araştırma stratejisi doğrultusunda tasarlanan bu araştırma, kapsamlı bir literatür taramasına dayalı olarak geliştirilmiştir. Veri toplama ve düzenleme aşamaları neticesinde 178 projeden oluşan veri seti, analitik yöntemler kullanılarak, dönemsel ve tipolojik çeşitliliği temsil eden bir örnekleme indirgenmiştir. Örneklem üzerinde biçimsel ve nicel analizler gerçekleştirilmiş ve elde edilen bulgular sosyal, siyasal ve ekonomik dinamiklerle çok katmanlı bir bağlamda tartışılmıştır. Neticede bu araştırma, 1923–2023 yılları arasında Türkiye’de kamu okul projelerinde okul tipleri, tasarım süreçleri, plan tipleri ve mekânsal düzenlemeler açısından çok katmanlı bir dönüşüm yaşandığını ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca bu dönüşümün sosyal, siyasal ve ekonomik dinamiklerle güçlü bir ilişki içinde şekillendiği fikrini tartışarak, eğitim yapılarının yalnızca fiziksel mekanlar değil, aynı zamanda dönemin sosyo-ekonomik ve ideolojik bağlamlarının birer yansıması olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu araştırma ulaştığı sonuçlar itibariyle literatürdeki önemli bir boşluğu doldurmak yanında, daha önce metrik düzeyde ele alınmamış parametreleri akademik literatüre kazandırmıştır. Ayrıca, Türkiye’deki eğitim yapıları için kapsamlı bir proje envanteri oluşturulması, bu çalışmanın literatüre sunduğu diğer bir önemli katkıdır.Anahtar Kelimeler : Kamu eğitim yapıları, tip projeler, mimari dönüşümThis study examines the architectural transformation of public-school projects in the Republic of Türkiye (1923–2023). It analyzes the formal and quantitative aspects of this transformation while exploring and interpreting the relationship with the country’s social, political, and economic dynamics, providing a supportive framework for the research topic. With this unique perspective, the study fills a significant gap in the field of architectural studies. It was designed using a combined research strategy that integrates historical, qualitative, and quantitative approaches, this study is based on an extensive literature review. Through data gathering and structuring processes, a dataset comprising 178 projects was reduced to a representative sample, reflecting the periodical and typological diversity, by using analytical methods. Formal and quantitative analyses were applied to the sample, and the findings were discussed within a multi-layered context of social, political, and economic dynamics. Consequently, this study reveals that a multi-layered transformation has occurred in public-school projects in Türkiye (1923–2023) in terms of school types, design processes, plan typologies, and spatial arrangements. Furthermore, it argues that this transformation is strongly shaped by social, political, and economic dynamics, demonstrating that educational buildings are not merely physical spaces but also reflections of the socio-economic and ideological contexts of their time. In addition to addressing a significant gap in the literature with its findings, this study introduces parameters that have not been previously examined at the metric level into academic discourse. Moreover, developing a comprehensive project inventory for educational buildings in Turkiye constitutes another important contribution of this study to the literature.Key Words : Public educational buildings, standardized projects, architectural transformation </p
