    No full text

    No full text
When a startup is founded, the focus is usually put on getting orders instead of implementing an adequate order management solution. As the startup grows in orders and employees, the initial make-do solution may become insufficient and slow the business down in the long run. This was the case for our partners Change 3D, who provide various services in the 3D-printing environment. Their make-do solution consisted of printing out cards for each order. The printed cards were then filled in with details such as order number, title, and client name, and ultimately hung on a whiteboard. As their business grew, the whiteboard became too full, making it more difficult to find orders and keep up with deadlines. This challenge led to the realization that a new solution is needed. To solve the problems and alleviate the pain points of our partner, we set out to develop a tool that displays their orders on a kanban board. In close collaboration with our partners, we followed the principles of user-centered design that enforces an iterative process and focuses on an understanding of the users and their context in all stages. This enabled us to gain a deep understanding of their problem and allowed us to build an application tailored to their needs. Through a scheduler, written as a microservice in Kotlin, we integrated their Bexio where we fetch the orders from, to eliminate the necessity of manually creating an item for the board. The core of the application is a backend written in Kotlin, which receives the orders from the scheduler and stores them in a MongoDB. Additionally, the states and state transitions are managed in the backend, which automatically triggers actions on Bexio, further eliminating manual steps of the previous process. The frontend is written in Angular, communicating with the backend through a RESTful API, which allows for live updating using SSE. The result provides a substantive improvement for the day-to-day business and order management of our partner, as determined by user tests. The core functionality is the board, which responsively displays the items in columns representing the states. Through drag and drop, an item can be moved into another state, which triggers the applicable action on Bexio. To improve the usability of the board and make it more practical for more use cases, there are various view options implemented, such as sorting, filtering, and grouping the items. On top of that, what is shown on each card is configurable and pieces of information can be hidden to further remove clutter from the board. Additional information can be stored and found on the detailed view of each card, such as assigning the item to someone, the history of the item, or an interactive 3D render of the piece that is being produced. After an item has gone through all the steps and the order is completed, it can be moved into the archive, which provides an insight into the orders that were completed across a timeline

    What's up in RJ

    No full text
The project aims to further develop the already existing platform `What's up in RJ'. The product is a web application that provides a space where organizers can share their events and activities with the community of Rapperswil-Jona. Initially, the platform provided a basic set of features, such as creating, managing, searching and filtering events and subscribing to a newsletter. A new feature lets organizers create their own profile page, giving them the ability to present themselves to visitors. Another new feature added is the upload of images, allowing organizers to upload custom images to their profile and events. Furthermore, an admin panel is available that allows an administrator to manage organizers and user accounts. The administrator has the ability to decide which organizers are allowed to publish their profile and events by verifying their accounts. The approach is to take the existing codebase, using the same technologies, and extend it with new features. Therefore, the web application remains a three tier application with a frontend, backend and database. The only change is the object storage, which is added to have a space to store images uploaded by organizers. After an initial inception phase, the new features were designed and planned during the elaboration phase. The implementation of each feature then took place in the construction phase. In a final step, the platform was tested with various test cases by real end-users to evaluate the functionality and usability of the new features. This project iteration makes the platform more attractive for all users and provides an overall better user experience. There are still many possibilities for further development and improvement to increase the platform's value for the community. With this project, the web application has been brought to the next level, and one step closer to make it a successful platform

    Dynamic Pentest Lab Framework

    No full text
In collaboration with Hacking-Lab AG and under the guidance of Ivan Bütler at the Department of Computer Science, Ostschweizerische Fachhochschule (OST), this thesis presents the development of the Dynamic Pentest Lab Deployment Generator, designed to facilitate the creation and deployment of cybersecurity penetration testing environments. The project addresses the need for flexible, easily deployable lab environments tailored to specific scenarios, streamlining the process for cybersecurity professionals and educators. The framework elaborated, leverages modern infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud services to automate the deployment of virtual labs. Key components include Terraform for infrastructure management, Django for backend operations, and Angular with TailwindCSS and DaisyUI for the frontend interface. A centralized source has been established via a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) Model, streamlining extension and enabling dynamic content hydration for the frontend. This approach guarantees a scalable and maintainable application. The fundamental aspects of the framework involve the creation and deployment of labs to provide snapshots for quicker deployments for end-users, along with the capability to save and reload pre-designed labs. The lab creation process allows the configuration of Virtual Machines (VMs) and containers, the establishment of subnets and firewall rules to control communication, and also supports custom installations using private repositories or customized Docker images. Additionally, the framework automatically sets up an OpenVPN Server to facilitate secure access to the penetration testing lab. These features enable cybersecurity educators to construct complex, customized networked environments for educational use. While the project effectively establishes a solid foundation, there remains room for enhancement, particularly in the realms of access technology and user experience. Additionally, the integration of the existing deployment manager directly into the generator application should be considered. In summary, it can be concluded that a robust foundation has been established for the framework that leverages existing architecture, thereby ensuring a smooth incorporation into the Hacking-Lab platform. Wi-Fi Security Threats - an Integrative Review

    No full text
"What are possible threats against Wi-Fi infrastructure?" is the main research question this integrative literature-review wants to find an answer to. Whether those threats are adequately dealt with, and how impactful the real-world implications appeared to be, are additional research goals. It was aimed to classify and illustrate those threats and attacks in an attack tree, demonstrating the possible attack vectors and paths. The literature-review is based on scientific sources (papers, articles) in the field of vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi security, protocol weaknesses and flaws, and cyber-attacks on Wi-Fi networks. The sources were selected based on a set of criteria and keywords, such as year and type of publication, and publication libraries. In a first part each selected source is summarized, highlighting their individual focus on the discussed threats or attacks and the resulting findings. The second part, the literature-review, consists of interwove comparisons of the sources' topics and findings, categorized by threats or attack types. The literature-review concludes that many of the presented threats and attacks are enabled by inherent vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi protocols or implementation flaws. Some vulnerabilities may have been partially addressed in amendments to Wi-Fi standards, while others persist due to backward compatibility requirements. Regarding improvements and future fields of study, the literature-review recognized the need for more rigorously defined standards in Wi-Fi technology. Implementations should be formally verified in a way to eliminate lacking adherence to standards and to reduce risks of bugs. Testing of Wi-Fi implementations must be expanded to include a broader range of devices, real-world environments, and configurations. This includes vendor-specific features and implementations, which often rely on Wi-Fi standards but due to ambiguous specifications lack security

Rapid API Design and Refactoring (RADAR)

    No full text

    Barrierelos

In December 2023, a revision of regulations was announced by the Swiss Federal Council, also mandating private companies to enhance the accessibility of their digital services. Therefore, a far greater number of actors will now have to adhere to these rules. Despite existing regulations, accessibility issues persist, particularly in government services at the cantonal and municipal levels. The project aims to address this gap by recording and scoring accessibility issues on websites, categorizing them by region and other factors, and making the data publicly available. The project also aids website maintainers in resolving these issues by providing a list of issues found in an easy-to-use format. This thesis presents a software system, incorporating crowdsourcing, scanning for accessibility issues using the axe-core engine, and a scoring algorithm named Barrierelos-Score. The system comprises a React-based web application frontend, a Spring Boot-based backend with a RESTful web API, and a scanner implemented in TypeScript running on Node.js. Containerization and temporal decoupling ensure scalability, while a modularized architecture facilitates easy implementation of new requirements. The project embraces an agile workflow, with automated testing and deployment, enabling continuous integration and continuous deployment. The documentation is made available online through GitLab Pages. The result is a comprehensive approach to enhance web accessibility awareness and facilitate issue resolution in Switzerland and Liechtenstein

    Consilium

Project management and organizational software is a complicated domain and already a well-saturated and competitive market. Due to the various levels of technical affinity, user-friendliness is a key aspect for software, trying to gain a foothold in this sector. Especially for smaller ventures, and freelancers, project management and administrative tasks are often not their main activities, but something keeping them from spending more time doing what they really want. On top of that, project management, creating offers and invoices are often only seen as a means to an end and not something to be enjoyed. Therefore, project management software should make the lives of their users easier, by reducing the overhead to a minimum. Tools in this domain should offer broad functionality while not getting overly complicated to use. This thesis identifies smaller ventures and freelancers as the perfect market segment to target with software tailor-made for their needs through a market analysis. Consilium addresses their needs by uniting different tasks, previously divided across multiple tools into one end-to-end software solution. While multiple freelancers and small ventures have previously been creating their offers with Word, tracking their efforts with Excel and making their notes in a text editor, they can now just use Consilium. Consilium identified the synergies that can be used between those various administrative tasks to make them simpler. By introducing innovative concepts, Consilium managed to become a well-rounded administrative tool, that can learn with the users, offering functionality from creating offers to creating invoices, while maintaining sufficient depth to model even complex workflows. Consilium is integrated into the AWS cloud and offers uncomplicated login functionality allowing potential users to sign up in seconds, using social logins. While primarily targeting freelancers, Workspaces are implemented, allowing users to collaborate. On top of all the functionality offered, Consilium maintains a high level of customizability, allowing for custom branding on exported documents and content to be added using a Rich text editor, which is then translated and exported into a PDF. Consilium manages to reduce the administrative overhead significantly by building smart workflows, through clever reuse of data. Early user tests show, Consilium is already in a state, which helps freelancers improve their productivity, by streamlining processes, showing significant improvements, compared to their previous processes. Consilium has the potential to become even more. By introducing a customer-view Consilium could become a marketplace, where users could tender projects and freelancers could offer their work. Here, a match-making algorithm could achieve groundbreaking results for freelancers and make finding someone to implement your project extremely easy. Another interesting lane to go down would be to add the feature where customers could approach freelancers with a potential project description which through conversational artificial intelligence could be translated into an offer draft for the service provider

Digital-Didaktik für Menschen mit kognitiver Beeinträchtigung

    No full text
