La crisis ambiental como crisis cultural. Un aporte desde el pensamiento geoculturalmente situado y decolonial de Rodolfo Kusch
Get PDFTo address the environmental crisis from the situated thinking of a marginalized intellectual like Rodolfo Kusch (1922-1979) is to opt for heretical thinking, because his approach to this phenomenon is essentially cultural. The objective of this study is to reflect on this problem from the unique language of this Argentinean thinker, who has developed his own conceptual categories that generate a critical decolonial position. Therefore, in order to discuss this crisis, we will use the following Kuschean categories: being someone, causal thinking, garden of objects, mere being, economy of abandonment and economy of protection.Abordar la crisis ambiental desde el pensamiento situado de un marginal como Rodolfo Kusch (1922-1979) es optar por un pensar herético, porque su enfoque de dicho fenómeno es esencialmente cultural. El objetivo del presente estudio es reflexionar sobre esta problemática desde el original lenguaje de este pensador argentino, quien ha elaborado categorías conceptuales propias de las cuales se desprende una postura crítica decolonial. Por consiguiente, con el fin de discutir esta temática utilizaremos las siguientes categorías kuscheanas: geocultura, ser alguien, pensar causal, patio de los objetos, mero estar, economía del desamparo y economía del amparo

Industries culturelles hors des pôles créatifs en temps de pandémie : trois joueurs clés pour assurer la pérennité
Get PDFThe spring of 2020 was marked by an unprecedented pandemic that put cultural activities around the world, including Quebec, on hold. Theaters, exhibition halls and creative spaces were forced to close their doors. Faced with this cataclysmic event, which paralyzed the cultural industries, artists, cultural organizations and public institutions had to be inventive to ensure their survival. Public funds were allocated to these industries, and a number of initiatives were launched, mainly in creative hubs such as Montreal, Quebec. The aim of this research is to understand how local players in the cultural industries have succeeded in setting up mechanisms to ensure the sustainability of cultural industries outside creative clusters. To meet this objective, we conducted focus groups and semi-structured interviews with artists, workers from cultural organizations and municipal workers. The results are organized around three themes. Firstly, the main issues affecting cultural industries outside creative hubs are presented. Secondly, we identify the initiatives that have been put in place to address these issues. Finally, we present the pitfalls encountered by the various groups (artists, cultural organizations, municipal institutions) and the ways in which they have overcome them. Finally, we present the pitfalls encountered between the various groups (artists, cultural organizations, municipal institutions) and the ways in which they have been able to work together to promote the sustainability of cultural industries.Le printemps 2020 a été marqué par une pandémie sans précédent mettant en suspens les activités culturelles à travers le monde, incluant le Québec. Les salles de spectacles, les lieux d’exposition et de création ont dû fermer leurs portes. Face à ce cataclysme qui paralysa les industries culturelles, les artistes, les organismes culturels et les institutions publiques ont dû faire preuve d’inventivité afin d’assurer la pérennité de ces industries. Des fonds publics ont été affectés à ces industries et plusieurs initiatives ont vu le jour principalement dans les pôles créatifs comme Montréal au Québec. L’objectif de cette recherche est de comprendre comment les acteurs locaux des industries culturelles ont réussi à mettre en place des dispositifs permettant d’assurer la pérennité des industries culturelles hors des pôles créatifs. Afin de répondre à cet objectif, nous avons mené des groupes de discussion et des entrevues semi-dirigées avec des artistes, des travailleurs d’organismes culturels et des travailleurs municipaux. Les résultats s’articulent autour de trois thèmes. Premièrement, les problématiques principales touchant les industries culturelles hors des pôles créatifs sont présentées. Dans un deuxième temps, nous identifions les initiatives ayant été mises en place afin de faire face à ces problématiques. Finalement, nous présentons les embûches vécues entre les différents groupes (artistes, organismes culturels, institution municipale) et la manière dont ceux-ci ont pu collaborer afin de favoriser la pérennité des industries culturelles

Get PDFWhile linguistic insecurity is a common topic in francophone minority discourse, it is also important to examine where it stems from and how it interacts with other contexts of linguistic adversity, such as glottophobia and linguicism. Contexts such as these stem from linguistic hierarchies, which are often expressions of symbolic domination. We propose that language resilience serves as an expression of the capacity of minoritized individuals to act in contexts of symbolic domination, particularly in contexts of linguicism, glottophobia, or linguistic insecurity. This process requires the involvement of cooccurring systems, and the mobilisation of internal and external resources. The ultimate goal of linguistic resilience is to achieve a state of linguistic well-being. We suggest considering an emancipatory language resilience as a way to counter symbolic domination, both of and by francophones, and to avoid the risk that a subgroup of the French minority attains linguistic well-being at the expense of another’s.Si l’insécurité linguistique est un sujet courant dans le discours des minorités francophones, il est également important d’examiner d’où elle provient et comment elle interagit avec d’autres contextes d’adversité linguistique, tels que la glottophobie et le linguicisme. L’ensemble de ces contextes (re)produisent des hiérarchies sociolinguistiques fondées sur des idéologies de la norme unique, et donc de la domination symbolique. Nous proposons que la résilience langagière sert d’expression à la capacité des individus minorisés à agir en contextes de domination symbolique, notamment en contexte de linguicisme, de glottophobie ou d’insécurité linguistique. Ce processus nécessite la mobilisation de ressources internes et externes à l’individu et la participation de systèmes concomitants. Son but ultime est d’arriver à un état de bien-être ou de mieux-être langagier. Nous proposons de penser à une résilience langagière émancipatrice afin de contrer la domination symbolique, par et contre des francophones, et d’éviter que l’atteinte du bien-être langagier des uns se fasse au coût du bien-être des autres francophones
Pan y toros… y romerías: La estética de lo grotesco en La romería de Manuel Ciges Aparicio
Get PDFThis article examines the aesthetics of the grotesque in Manuel Ciges Aparicio’s novel The Procession (1910) as a form of expression whose aim is to denounce the Spanish Restoration System (1874-1931). As such, this novel anticipates many of the themes and motifs present in Ramón del Valle-Inclán’s best-known and celebrated esperpentos. Indeed, The Procession, on the one hand, and the esperpentos, on the other, reflect the same political climate of hypocrisy, mediocrity, and farce prevalent during the regime established by Antonio Cánovas del Castillo.Este ensayo explora la estética de lo grotesco en la novela La romería (1910) de Manuel Ciges Aparicio como mecanismo de denuncia del sistema de la Restauración (1874-1931). Como tal, anticipa muchas de las temáticas presentes en las mejores obras esperpénticas de Ramón del Valle-Inclán. De hecho, La romería, por un lado, y el esperpento valleinclaniano, por el otro, reflejan el mismo clima de hipocresía, farsa y mediocridad prevalente durante el régimen ideado por Antonio Cánovas del Castillo

Next, we explore the favorable light in which the captain portrays relations between Christians, Muslims, and Jews in the account of his travel through Hindustan, Persia, and Arabia. Domingo de Toral y Valdés highlights points of cultural permeability, exchange, and cooperation and, in so doing, problematizes the essentialist notions and treatment that Early Modern Spain reserved for religious difference.Este artículo parte de un análisis de los contenidos referentes al ejército y el tratamiento de la soldadesca, mediante los cuales la Relación enuncia un discurso sobre la decadencia imperial, marcado por el desengaño del ideal militar, un pesimismo de corte antibelicista y el tono didáctico-moralizante. Seguidamente se analiza la luz favorable con que el capitán retrata las relaciones entre cristianos, musulmanes y judíos en el relato de su viaje, subrayando puntos de permeabilidad cultural, intercambio y cooperación, con lo que problematiza las nociones esencialistas y el tratamiento que la España del Siglo de Oro reservaba para las diferencias religiosas
