Is dual-purpose flax production feasible in the Amik Plain? A preliminary study on cultivar performance and harvesting stage
The research aimed to investigate the yield and quality parameters of three flax varieties (Linum usitatissimum L.) at four different harvesting stages in Amik Plain in the 2021 growing seasons. The experimental design was a randomized complete block in split plot arrangement with three replications. Seed yield and quality parameters were determined after the maturation of seeds at the final harvesting. Harvesting stages (beginning of flowering, capsule formation, green-yellow ripening, and full ripening stages) significantly affected plant height, technical stem length, stem ratio, moisture, and plant fresh weight. Among the cultivars, significant differences were observed in terms of technical stem length, fiber ratio, stem ratio, 1000 seed weight and seed yield. Interaction effects were determined in terms of plant height and moisture ratio. While the cv. Noreum had greater fiber ratio (19.45%), stem ratio (50.97%) and seed yield (241.33 kg da-1), the cv. Karakız had the highest 1000 seed weight (7.99 g). The cv. Beyaz Gelin had the highest technical stem length (67.39 cm). In terms of technical stem length, fiber ratio, and stem ratio parameters, the cv. Beyaz Gelin and the cv. Noreum were in the same statistical group. The fact that harvesting stages do not affect the fiber ratio has led to the conclusion that planting for both purposes may be appropriate in the region
Responses of Different Stresses on Tomato
Tomato is one of the products with the highest production and consumption in the world, and it is among the sine quanon of human nutrition because of its high trade. In terms of plant yield, water deficiency is an important factor. In addition, salt stress in plants is an important limiting environmental factor affecting production. During the study period, the temperature values of the growing room were kept at 23 / 17 ±2 °C (day/night), 55–60% humidity, and under 8000 lux light intensity. In practice, irrigations of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%, salt 50 mM, salt 100 mM, and salt 150 mM were performed. It was determined that the control plants under drought and salt stress gave poor and negative results in terms of plant growth. In our application, it was determined that tomato plants under drought, salt, and water stress (excessive water level) had a higher chlorophyll content than plants not exposed to drought. It was observed that the potassium ratio (%) of the tomato plant in the green and root parts of the tomato plant was higher in the control plants exposed to salt stress. It was determined that the potassium ratio (%) in the green and root parts of the tomato plant accumulated more in the control plants at irrigation levels of 100%, 125%, and 150%. In the study, it was determined that water and salt stress applications affect the growth and development of plants negatively, as seen in plants under stress (salt stress, water deficiency and excess). In addition, water plays a vital role for plants in the world

In this study, we aimed to find the volumetric difference between the brain volumes of individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and Parkinson plus disease (PPD) by comparing them with the brain volumes of healthy individuals. In the study 25 individuals diagnosed with PH, 25 individuals diagnosed with PPH, 25 healthy individuals were included in the study. İt was determined that in our study, compared to PPD and PD, there was a decrease in putamen volume (p=0.03635) and an increase in percentage value of corpus amygdaloideum volume asymmetry (p=0.03946). Between the PD and control groups, it was found that there was an increase in nucleus caudatus volumes and percentage value of globus pallidus volume asymmetry (p<0.001, p<0.001). Other parameters did not show any statistically significant difference. In the right/left side evaluation, the alteration in the volume of the right/left corpus amygdaloideum and right/left nucleus accumbens in PPD was statistically significant, while this difference was not significant in the PD and control group. In addition, in the PD group, there is a statistically significant difference in the right/left lateral ventricular volume. As a result of our study, we concluded that determining the percentage value of globus pallidus volume asymmetry and nucleus caudatus volumes is important in the diagnosis of PD and PPD, and determining the putamen and percentage value of corpus amygdaloideum volume asymmetry is of critical importance in the differential diagnosis of PPD from PD

Molecular docking reveals fibrinogen binding sites on SARS-CoV-2 spike protein: A potential mechanism for COVID-19-related coagulation
The Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), highlighted significant gaps in our understanding of the virus’s molecular structure, its biological properties, and the interactions between viral proteins and host biological systems, which have underscored the critical need for further research in this area. Coagulation disorders, particularly those leading to thromboinflammation, have been linked to severe complications in COVID-19 cases. The occurrence of thromboinflammation has likewise been corroborated in cases of both Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). In this study, we investigated the protein-protein interactions between the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and fibrinogen, a glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in blood coagulation. Molecular docking analysis revealed key interactions between the ? and ? subunits of fibrinogen and the spike protein. The findings suggest that these interactions may contribute to the understanding of the coagulation disorders observed in COVID-19 patients. This study provides insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these disorders and identifies potential targets for the development of therapeutic interventions
Compact operators on the Motzkin sequence space c0(M)
The concept of non-compactness measure is extremely beneficial for func- tional analysis in theories, such as fixed point and operator equations. Apart from these, the Hausdorff measure of non-compactness also has some applications in the theory of sequence spaces which is an interesting topic of functional analysis. One of these applications is to ob- tain necessary and sufficient conditions for the matrix operators between Banach coordinate (BK) spaces to be compact. In line with these explanations, in this study, the necessary and sufficient conditions for a matrix operator to be compact from the Motzkin sequence space c0(M) to the sequence space ? ? {??, c, c0, ?1} are presented by using Hausdorff measure of non-compactness

Exploring Irisin and Nesfatin-1 in second trimester amniotic fluid: a comparative study of obese and normal weight pregnant women
Objective: Obesity is characterized by dysregulated adipokine production patterns, leading to low-grade inflammation. Irisin has been identified as a potential target for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Nesfatin-1, another adipokine, plays a significant role in various metabolic processes, including glucose homeostasis. This study investigated the levels of the new generation adipokines, irisin and nesfatin-1, in the amniotic fluid during the second trimester of normal and obese pregnancies. Methods: Amniotic fluid samples were collected following established protocols. The first 2 mL portion of fluid obtained during amniocentesis was retained aAfter centrifugation at 1500 g for 10 minutes, the cell-free amniotic fluid was transferred to Eppendorf tubes and quantitative measurements of irisin and nesfatin-1 levels were performed using the Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) method. Results: Our results demonstrate, for the first time in the literature, the presence of irisin and nesfatin-1 in amniotic fluid. Additionally, we found that the levels of these adipokines were significantly lower in obese pregnant women compared to the control group (both p<0.05). Conclusion: Our results demonstrate, for the first time in the literature, the presence of irisin and nesfatin-1 in amniotic fluid. Additionally, we found that the levels of these adipokines were significantly lower in obese pregnant women compared to the control group (both p<0.05)
