The Development of Pharmacy Education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Maribor: A Chronological Review Leading to the 2025 Accreditation: Razvoj študija farmacije na Medicinski fakulteti Univerze v Mariboru: kronološki pregled do akreditacije leta 2025
Background: Establishment of the Integrated Master’s Programme in Pharmacy at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Maribor (MF UM [Maribor, Slovenia]) was driven by national pharmacist shortages, expansion of the pharmaceutical industry, increasing clinical pharmacy needs, and harmonisation under EU Directives 2013/55/EU and 2024/782/EU. These factors underscored the necessity of a second accredited pharmacy programme in Slovenia. This review summarises the development that led to accreditation in December 2024.
Methods: A chronologic document-based review was performed using institutional archives, three accreditation applications, reports from the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (NAKVIS), internal strategic analyses, collaboration agreements, and national statistical data. These materials were integrated with the scientific literature on pharmacy education and EU regulatory frameworks to identify structural, pedagogic, and contextual elements shaping the final programme.
Results: Development of the Integrated Master’s Programme in Pharmacy progressed through three phases: early conceptualisation (2006–2016); two accreditation attempts (2017–2020), which clarified curricular, staffing, and competency gaps; and a comprehensive redesign (2021–2024) involving interdisciplinary collaboration among the MF UM, Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor (FKKT UM), clinical institutions, and pharmaceutical industry partners. The final curriculum was aligned with EU competence requirements and integrated biomedical, technological, analytical, and enhanced clinical sciences. Strong inter-faculty collaboration and robust clinical and industrial components were formalised through extensive partnerships.
Conclusions: The programme represents a significant advance for Slovenian pharmacy education, addressing national workforce needs, strengthening regional development, and complementing existing educational capacities. Establishment of the Integrated Master’s Programme in Pharmacy at the MF UM highlights the value of strategic planning and cross-sector collaboration in contemporary pharmacy education.
Viri so bili dopolnjeni z znanstveno literaturo s področja farmacevtskega izobraževanja in evropskega regulativnega okvira z namenom identifikacije strukturnih, pedagoških in vsebinskih elementov, ki so oblikovali končni program.
Vzpostavitev tega programa poudarja pomen strateškega načrtovanja in medsektorskega sodelovanja v sodobnem farmacevtskem izobraževanju

Med hrvaščino in slovenščino: jezik Jožefa Horvata v prekmurskem prostoru
Priest Jožef Horvat (born 1880 in Velika Narda, died 1932 in Martjanci), a Croat from Burgenland, spent 27 years of his priesthood (1905–1932) in Prekmurje, then part of Hungary, where he learned Prekmurje due to his pastoral work. The article summarizes the most important biographical information and in the central part provides a linguistic analysis of Horvat\u27s manuscript sermons. Two sermons are discussed – the earliest from 1905, written in Prekmurje with pronounced Croatian elements, and a later one, which shows a gradual adaptation to the Slovene literary language. Based on a comparative analysis of phonological, morphological, syntactic and lexical characteristics and a comparison with the Central Slovene template (Žlogar, Duhovni pastir, 1909), the article reveals the development of Horvat\u27s linguistic abilities and his conscious approximation to the Slovene literary norm. The language of his later sermons shows a balance between the Prekmurje and Central Slovenian traditions, which testifies to the priest\u27s role as a mediator of Slovenianness in the Pannonian region. The article sheds light on the importance of Horvat\u27s sermons as a source for studying interlingual contacts and the processes of unification of the Slovenian literary language in the first half of the 20th century. Jezik njegovih poznejših pridig kaže uravnoteženost med prekmursko in osrednjeslovensko tradicijo, kar priča o duhovnikovi vlogi posrednika slovenskosti v panonskem prostoru. Prispevek osvetljuje pomen Horvatovih pridig kot vira za preučevanje medjezikovnih stikov in procesov poenotenja slovenskega knjižnega jezika v prvi polovici 20. stoletja
The application of computednanotomography in biomedical sciencesand medicine: Uporaba nanotomografijev biomedicinski znanosti in medicini
Background: Computed nanotomography (nano-CT) is a cutting-edge imaging technology that provides ultra-high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) visualization at the cellular and subcellular levels, significantly surpassing conventional computed tomography (CT) and other imaging modalities. In this review, we describe the technological development of nano-CT along with its current capabilities and potential for integration into clinical medicine.
Methods: We reviewed the existing literature relating to nano-CT technology, emphasizing biomedical research applications and evaluating potential for future clinical integration.
Results: Nano-CT has demonstrated exceptional utility across various biomedical disciplines, including cardiology, vascular medicine, neurology, pulmonology, oncology and dentistry. This imaging technique provides unprecedented insights into tissue architecture, cellular details and pathological processes, providing significant enhancement in our understanding of diseases and supporting advancements in diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic strategies.
Conclusions: Despite remarkable potential for biomedical research, the clinical adoption of nano-CT faces several challenges, including limitations in imaging speed, soft tissue contrast, radiation dose and sample size. Continued technological innovations, clinical validation, and the development of multimodal imaging approaches are essential for the successful transition of nano-CT into routine medical diagnostics and personalized medicine.
Omogoča edinstven vpogled v arhitekturo tkiv, celične podrobnosti in patološke procese, kar bistveno izboljšuje razumevanje bolezni in podpira napredek v diagnostiki, načrtovanju zdravljenja ter novih terapevtskih strategijah.
Inflation, Inflation Uncertainty and Economic Growth in Tunisia: Nonlinear Modelling Framework
Inflation uncertainty is a critical factor influencing not only the market mechanisms but also the economic activity efficiency. In this paper, we investigated the relationship between inflation and growth to capture the impact of inflation uncertainty in Tunisia. The study relied on a dataset covering the period 1984.01-2018.08 and was characterized by a nonlinear specification. We used Hansen’s (2001) Threshold Regression (TR) analysis to determine one threshold effect of inflation on growth while explaining the role of inflation uncertainty in the whole process. This study concluded that an optimal inflation rate does exist. Under this rate, a little rise in inflation may enhance economic growth, allowing an adverse impact of inflation uncertainty. Above the critical threshold of 3%, it was revealed that inflation and inflation uncertainty play opposite roles: while the former harms growth, the latter benefits it. Thus, we cannot sustain the Friedman-Ball hypothesis for the two regimes. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study that aimed to investigate the simultaneous effects of inflation and inflation uncertainty on growth in Tunisia using a non-linear methodology. This study aims to fulfil the knowledge gap of such studies for developing countries
The Influence of Visual Elements of Social Media on the Behavior of Generation Z Tourists
In today\u27s online world, where all information is available to users with just one click, it is challenging to determine their credibility. Given the fact that there are almost 5 billion social media users, it is safe to say that social media has become an essential part of everyday life for many users, especially members of Generation Z. When filtering the pool of information, visual elements play a significant role in the decision-making process for users. Generation Z is composed of young people born between 1995 and 2005. They are considered the originators of social media and the virtual world, and spend the most time analysing content in the form of photographs or videos. The main reason why Generation Z members prioritise visual elements more than textual ones stems from the higher degree of reliability and trust that this type of content displays. To analyse how photos and videos influence the trust of members of Generation Z in online recommendations, a survey was conducted in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, in which the Pearson correlation test was applied. The research lasted from February to March 2024. Moreover, a study was conducted on a sample of 305 respondents, where the sample was convenience, and the obtained data were tested using the IBM SPSS Statistics platform. The main findings indicate how visual elements of social media, such as photos and videos, influence a greater degree of trust in credibility among Generation Z
Assessing the Impact of Point-of-Sale Beer Brand Ads Through Consumer Neuroscience Research
This study employs EEG and eye-tracking to assess how brand equity, creative complexity, and spatial layout influence implicit consumer responses to point-of-sale (POS) beer advertisements. Through the theoretical lens of predictive coding and processing fluency, laboratory testing with Serbian beer consumers (N = 20) revealed that simpler designs yielded superior attention performance across TFD and TTFF (d up to 2.62), independent of brand strength. Spatial repositioning reduced packshot detection time by 0.89s (p<0.001, d=1.78) in horizontal versus vertical layouts. EEG showed no significant brand differences (valence d=0.07, p=0.765), offering a theoretical interpretation consistent with predictive coding, wherein expected stimuli elicit reduced neural activation, with brand strength operating solely through attentional pathways. Eye-tracking revealed strong brands\u27 automatic attentional capture of iconic elements (e.g., letter \u27J\u27; TTFF=0.47s), theoretically reconciled via processing fluency as effortless decoding. We derive actionable POS benchmarks: packshot detection < 0.5s, slogan engagement > 1.0s, emotional valence > 5.0, cognitive load < 5.0. This advances GDPR/NDA-compliant methodology while offering practical guidelines grounded in neurocognitive theory
Preprečevanje poškodb v predšolskem in osnovnošolskem izobraževanju: analiza perspektiv in strokovnega znanja učiteljev
The article presents a study focused on the teaching staff and the impact of their occupational health and safety (OHS) teaching on pupils in pre-primary and primary education. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 227 teachers from eleven pre-primary and primary schools in Prague, Czech Republic in 2021. Pre-primary teachers rated themselves as more competent in OHS than teachers of primary education, although pre-primary children had a higher rate of injuries. More frequent OHS training did not affect teachers’ self-assessment but reduced child injury rates, especially if such training was completed more than once a year.V članku je predstavljena raziskava, osredinjena na pedagoško osebje ter vpliv njihovega poučevanja varnosti in zdravja pri delu (VZD) na učence v predšolskem in osnovnošolskem izobraževanju.
OB OBLETNICI FORMIRANJA IN DELOVANJA PREKMURSKE BRIGADE LETA 1945
The Right to Attention in The Information Economy: A Tool To Protect Individuals Against Functional Illiteracy
In a technological reality increasingly dominated by screen devices, there has been a decline in peoples\u27 ability to use written and spoken language in a way that enables us to function effectively in society (functional illiteracy). Every seventh 15-year-old does not have sufficient reading skills and can only decode the text. From the perspective of education, one of the crucial causes of the threat of functional illiteracy are the significant distractions resulting from the improper use of screen devices. Thus, the modern economy, based on the exploitation of attention, appears to excessively strain individuals\u27 ability to concentrate, leading to a decline in cognitive autonomy and the growing problem of functional illiteracy. The aim of this article is to analyse the right to attention as a tool to protect individuals in the context of the impact of digital technologies on education and cognitive development. The article examines the relationship between the right to attention, mental integrity, educational challenges, and the necessity of regulating mechanisms within the information economy. The article highlights the particular harm that attention economy poses to vulnerable groups, especially children
