HISTORICAL STRESS TEST OF CREDIT RISK USING MONTECARLO SIMULATION: INDONESIA ISLAMIC BANKING

    Get PDF
This study was conducted to assess the vulnerability of Islamic banking credit portfolios under macroeconomic shocks and their impact on NPFs, using the linear regression analysis. From the three proposed models, namely OLS, ARIMAX and Error Correction Model (ECM), the ECM model was selected as the best. By using the Montecarlo simulation, an estimate was made of the possible future value of the NPF in Islamic banking. The study established that exchange rates, economic disparities, inflation, economic growth and interest rates showed positive and significant effects on bank credit risk whereas inflation produced negative effects. The non-performing finance (NPF) was also estimated using the Montecarlo simulation using one million trials. The results were subsequently used to conduct a stress test for the projected NPF. With 99% confidence, the maximum potential value of bad credit was 21%. The maximum NPF bad credit was attained under confidence level of 95%

    Get PDF
Several people turned or changed to entrepreneurs and established start-ups during COVID-19. Limited access allows them to use the network competence and access market information to improve sales growth. Therefore, this research aims to contribute to a conceptual model of market information accessibility and successful collaboration innovation to ensure start-ups achieve superior sales growth. The analysis results with SEM-AMOS using the normality test resulted in 192 start-ups in Indonesia from the initial data of 280. The results showed that the level of suitability (significant) meets all the requirements and supports the hypothesis. However, market information accessibility and successful collaboration innovation play an important role in mediating the relationship between network competence and sales growth. This research contributes to the body of knowledge in the development of relational marketing theory. Moreover, start-ups’ actors need fast adaptation because their business lasts longer by seeking access to information and collaboration innovation

NOMINATION AND REMUNERATION COMMITTEE AND FIRM PERFORMANCE: EVIDENCE FROM JORDAN

    Get PDF
The study examines how the composition of the nomination and remuneration committee (NRC) affects firm performance in Jordanian publicly traded companies. The study consists of 68 non-financial public companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange for the years between 2017 and 2020. This study uses four different statistical models to analyse the panel data including fixed effects, pooled OLS, random effects, and robust standard errors. The findings show that committee size, overlap, and expertise have a positive association with Tobin's Q. On the other hand, the committee's independence, meetings, and female membership have an insignificant impact on Tobin's Q. Also, the committee's independence and size have a positive and significant effect on ROA, while the committee's expertise, meetings, overlaps, and female membership have no significant effect on ROA. This study contributes to the Jordanian corporate governance structure, including the composition of the nomination and remuneration committees, and contributes to the insights of regulators and shareholders into the role of NRC features in a developing market, such as Jordan, and their impact on firm performance. This study focuses on setting up an NRC for non-financial firms, it is suggested that for certain firms, but not all public corporations in Jordan and other developing countries. Therefore, exploring whether similar findings would be achieved if financial firms were required to establish such a committee would be a topic of interest for researchers

This study aims to examine the relationship between the quality of integrated reporting (IR) disclosure and firm performance in Asia listed companies. An integrated report score based on eight content elements taken from the IIRC framework was used to assess the quality of the IR disclosures of 90 Asian companies in 2019. Firm performance is evaluated using accounting-based measures such as return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). This study used a positivist research approach, the results show that the quality of IR disclosure of listed companies in Asia is sufficient. The study found a significant positive relationship between IR disclosure quality and ROA & ROE. It shows that the higher the quality of IR disclosure, the better the economic benefits of the company. The main practical implications of this study focus on calling for improved quality of IR issued by listed companies in Asia, as it provides evidence for a higher degree of financial performance achieved through high-quality disclosure of IR

    Get PDF
Energy efficiency is like the ‘low hanging fruit’ in which improving energy efficiency is one of the easiest ways to lessen energy demand. Firms, large or small, can make a major positive contribution to energy sustainability by improving energy efficiency. This research attempts to examine the effects of SMEs’ perceptions in terms of knowledge, government intervention and personal norms on their support for energy efficiency improvement. A survey was carried out to collect data and empirical testing of the research model was conducted. The estimated results suggest that the factors of knowledge and government intervention have significant effects on SMEs’ support for energy efficiency improvement. In addition, the results show that personal norms is an important mediator variable in influencing SMEs’ decision to improve energy efficiency. The findings of this research provide some fresh insights on energy efficiency improvement of SMEs and several notable implications can be drawn from this research

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP, LOCUS OF CONTROL AND EMPLOYEES' READINESS TO CHANGE: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF PSYCAP

    Get PDF
This study investigates the influence of transformational leadership and internal locus of control on readiness to change. We examine the role of psychological capital as the mediating construct. Data were collected by the survey from 149 employees working at several start-up companies in Indonesia. The findings reveal that transformational leadership directly influences readiness to change, while internal locus of control influences both directly and indirectly. The mediating role of psychological capital does not significantly affect the relationship between transformational leadership and readiness to change. We also found that psychological capital fully mediates the influence of internal locus of control on readiness to change. This study contributes to understanding the psychological mechanism of psychological capital as an essential tool to link the effect of internal locus of control in building employees’ readiness to change. Theoretical and practical implications and suggestions for further research are further discussed

    Get PDF
Work engagement is becoming an important concept in modern business and society, particularly among the millennial generation, that will dominate the global working population. This study seeks to delve deeper into the work engagement of millennial lecturers in Indonesian higher education, including both predictors and consequences. This study employs a mixed-methods approach through a sequential exploratory design. First, its conducts an extensive literature review to formulate research hypotheses, which were then assessed quantitatively using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling. Occupational self-efficacy and perceived organizational support manifest as personal and job resources, respectively, and dominate the work engagement literature. Specifically, the study demonstrates that occupational self-efficacy can moderate the effect of perceived organizational support on work engagement. Furthermore, work engagement acts as an important mediator in the relationship between perceived organizational support and organizational engagement. From the viewpoints of social exchange theory and self-determination theory, the findings of this study shed light on the underlying mechanism of the effect of perceived organizational support on millennial lecturers' organizational engagement. This study is one of only a few that focus on both work engagement and organizational engagement within an integrative conceptual framework

    Get PDF
Academic staffs are the main asset to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) since education is the institution's core business. The ability of academic staff to meet the goals set by the HEIs is of utmost importance. They must possess strong competencies and excellent personality to improve their performance and achieve the desired target. Although the effect of organizational and individual factors has been verified in previous studies, it remains unclear what underlying mechanisms explain the relationship. This study examined the role of personality as a mediator in the relationship between leader-member exchange (LMX) and job performance. This research used a quantitative method with a total sample of 260 academic staff in private HEIs, which were analyzed using the SEM Amos software. The findings showed that LMX and job performance (β= -0.26) and LMX and personality (β= 0.42) were significantly related, and academic staff personality was found to have the most substantial effect on job performance (β= 1.07). The result also indicated that personality partially mediates the relationship between LMX and job performance. The study's findings propose that the management of HEIs can improve the organizational factors through the proper implementation of LMX, which will nurture individual factors' effectiveness and improve academic staff job performance
