This paper assessed specific mission strategies adopted by New Life College of Theology and Missions, Ibadan towards achieving her mission and visionstatements and leadership training. The study used a descriptive survey research design with thematic analysis to process the data collected in relation to the research that addresses the problem identified. Findings revealed that various leadership training approaches included vision-setting, mentorship, and innovative teaching approaches geared towards fulfilling the trainees\u27 ministerial calling, coupled with academic empowerment that fosters growthwithin New Life College of Theology, Ibadan. Hence, the discourse concludes that vision and mission statement formulation guide the mission strategies for active and good leadership training for Christian missions. Therefore, the study recommends that both the missionary trainers and the church must be in tandem to contribute towards developing effective leadership training approaches and mission strategies that align with the objectives of fostering growth within New Life College of Theology and Mission and the wider church community.
Diversity and Cultural Consciousness: A Case Study of Challenges of Interculturality in Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Samonda, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria
Intercultural competence and diversity management strategy are necessary for effective leadership in any human organization that is characterized with cultural diversity. In a multicultural organization like church, leaders, particularly pastors, bear the responsibility to manage diversity of human experiences, promote intercultural understanding among the congregations, and mobilise them toward achieving common goals. This responsibility, however, requires a certain degree of cultural consciousness. This paper focuses on the challenges of managing Interculturality in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Samonda, Ibadan. It is concern with the cultural consciousness and challenges among the diversity of the congregants. The paper is based on focused group interviews conducted among pastors in the parish, primarily to measure their level of cultural consciousness and awareness of cultural diversity among their parishioners. The findings of the paper –multiculturalism due to globalization, diverse cultural background, adherents to culture and beliefs, trying to unify through gifts-sharing accounts for the challenges of interculturality in a culturally diverse organization, particularly, the challenges that pastors encounter with multicultural worshippers. The paper therefore concludes that the lack of cultural consciousness and willingness to adopt culturally–appropriate methods may result into cultural dissonances and disunity among the congregation and, ultimately, hamper the mission goals of the church. The study recommends that the promotion of interculturality among the congregations, pastor’s education on intercultural strategy requires an unwavering attention
Basics for Improved Learning Methods in the Humanities
Improved learning methods in the Humanities as a discipline emphasize critical thinking, interdisciplinary approaches, and the integration of technology to enhance educational experiences. By fostering a more interactive and studentcentered learning environment, these methods encourage active participation and deeper engagement with the material. Critical thinking skills are honed through discussions, debates, and analytical exercises that challenge students and researchers to question and interpret various perspectives. Interdisciplinary approaches broaden understanding by linking humanities subjects with sciences, social sciences and the arts, providing a more comprehensive view of human culture and history. The incorporation of technology, such as digital archives, multimedia resources, and online collaborative platforms, enriches the learning process by making vast resources easily accessible and enabling innovative teaching techniques. Smith’s theoretical framework affirms that humanities integrate constructivism, inquiry-based learning, socio-cultural theory, critical pedagogy, and digital humanities. These approaches emphasize active engagement, social interaction, and reflective practices to enhance scholarly understanding and application of humanities content. Additionally, experiential learning opportunities, like field trips, internships, and service-learning projects, connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. These methods not only make learning more dynamic and engaging but also prepare students and researchers for diverse career paths by developing versatile skills. By embracing these improved learning methods, Humanities education becomes more relevant and effective in addressing contemporary challenges and fostering a deeper understanding of the human experience
Goal Setting Skill as a Pernacea to Sexual Abuse: A Theoretical Review
Sexual abuse has consistently raised significant concerns among stakeholdersin the education sector, particularly within Nigerian secondary schools, thereby necessitating this research. This study aimed to assess the relativeeffectiveness of goal-setting skills as a strategy for mitigating sexual abuse. While sex is a natural activity that can provide meaningful and intimateexperiences, it can also become an antisocial act when engaged in underinappropriate circumstances. From a psychological perspective, sexualbehavior is deemed maladaptive if it leads to feelings of distress, anxiety, orguilt, or if it inflicts harm on others. In essence, a sexual behaviour isconsidered maladaptive if it adversely affects an individual\u27s well-being or thatof others. Goal setting entails the formulation of an action plan aimed atdirecting an individual or group towards a specific objective. Goals can beestablished at various levels: initially, individuals outline their overarchingaspirations for their lives and the significant objectives they wish toaccomplish. Subsequently, the study disaggregates these aspirations intoprogressively smaller targets that must be achieved to realise their long-termgoals

Public and Private Sector Expenditure and Nigeria\u27s Economic Performance: An ARDL Analysis
This study examined the relationship between public and private sector expenditure and their influence on economic growth in Nigeria. Gross domestic product was considered as the dependent variable, while public capital expenditure, public recurrent expenditure, and commercial bank credit to the private sector were treated as independent variables. The Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) analysis was employed to analyze the data, covering the period from 1981 to 2023. The findings revealed important insights into the dynamics between these variables. Notably, public capital expenditure in lag two emerged as a significant predictor of economic growth, as evidenced by its positive and statistically significant coefficient. This implied that public investment aimed at stimulating output exhibited a delayed but positive effect on gross domestic product in Nigeria. Conversely, the commercial bank credit to the private sector in lag three demonstrated a negative and statistically significant relationship with gross domestic product, suggesting that a decrease in private sector credit could hinder economic growth. Based on these results, policymakers were recommended to prioritize and increase public capital expenditure to foster economic growth as it is crucial to maintain a conducive environment for credit availability and accessibility to the private sector. Implementing supportive financial policies lead to improvement on the banking sector infrastructure, and ensuring easy access to financing in order to stimulate private sector investment, job creation, and overall economic productivity. Striking a balance between public and private sector initiatives helps Nigeria to unlock its full growth potential and paves the way for sustainable development
Naija Konnecti: Reconceptualising the Use of Radio for Social Change
One of the often-touted beautiful characteristics of Nigeria, the world\u27s most populous Black Country, is its “unity in diversity”. At least 350 tribes make up the country, although there are four dominant ethnic groupings – Igbo, Hausa, Fulani, and Yoruba. Soon after the country secured independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, the famed "unity in diversity" began to witness tremors. The country survived a devastating civil war. Leadership became a big issue; internal-communal wars, banditry, corruption, political apathy, insecurity, and general intolerance have escalated in the past decade. It was with this background that Development Communication Research Centre, (DCRC), a not-for-profit organization, based in Lagos, conducted a baseline study on how the foregoing challenges could be resolved. the country had been spending billions of naira to acquire weapons and give palliatives to millions of people displaced because of these crises but largely ignored the need to re-orientate Nigerian and that this was what motivated the organization to approach Ford Foundation for support - to use the entertainment education model to address the problems. The entertainment-education (E-E) model has been used successfully by international organizations, especially United Nations agencies, to tackle various social, political, and economic problems. The target segments of the population are fed with entertainment laced with hidden educational content aimed at fostering awareness, attitude, and ultimately, behaviour change. The E-E model, despite its tremendous successes in the past (for example through the Village Headmaster, Masquerades, and Tales By Moonlight programmes on the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA) had not been applied to solve the problem. With financial and technical support from the Ford Foundation, the organization created a 30-minute radio drama (comedy) series tagged “Naija Konnecti”. The plot of the drama is an imaginary Naija Estate where various Nigerians live together. The intrigues of their survival in this Estate are used to mirror the real Nigeria. Challenges being addressed in the real country are set and resolved within the Estate and the episodes are aired on six radio stations strategically picked, one in each of the nation\u27s six geo-political zones. Sixty-five artists, including eight Nollywood veterans such as Ngozi Nwosu, Jide Kosoko, Saeed Mohammed, Dele Odule, Mong Kalu, and Jeremiah Francis were cast in the 52 episodes which ran from May 2022 to June 2023. The issues addressed in the first season of the series included corruption, inter-ethnic relations, tolerance, patriotism, banditry, nepotism, civic engagement, and political apathy. The results were encouraging. The organization commissioned an impact-assessment study at the end of the first season (June 2023) and found a high level of awareness amongst the citizenry in the campaign locations. The listeners became more conscious of their relative contributions to the challenges of the country and that they also needed to be part of the solution. The programme was exposed to 1,974,400 listeners, which means there were about 99,479,200 listening times during the campaign
Unemployment and Insecurity in Nigeria\u27s Geopolitical Zones
Discussions about the causes of insecurity are controversial with, a number of studies professing and counter-professing its linkage to unemployment. In view of this, this study ascertained the relationship between insecurity and unemployment across the different geopolitical zones in Nigeria through establishing the rate of unemployment in each of the 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria, ascertaining the level of insecurity in each geopolitical zone in Nigeria, ranking unemployment rate and ranking rate of insecurity in each geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Using expo-facto research design, data obtained from National Bureau of Statistics (2020) were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including tables, percentages, pie-charts, bar-charts and graphs. While inferential statistics specifically Z-score, were used to test the study hypothesis. Result established that South-Southern region of Nigeria had the worst unemployment rate (34.66%) while the North-Eastern region of Nigeria had the worst insecurity rate (80%). Z test of hypothesis at 0.05 significant level affirmed that there is no significant relationship between unemployment and insecurity in the different geopolitical zones of Nigeria (1.500, p<1.960>1.960). As this study found no significant relationship between unemployment and insecurity in Nigerian geopolitical zones, it is recommended that further studies be conducted on ascertaining the relationship between illiteracy and insecurity in Nigeria geopolitical zones.
E- Governance and Corruption in Public Establishments: A Study of the Federal Ministry of Interior, Nigeria
From Nigeria’s independence to this present time, the Nigerian public service has been governed by a well-organized code of conduct. However, the public service continues to witness cases of corruption and unethical behaviour among its officials. Bureaucratic corruption remains a serious impediment to socio-economic and political development in Nigeria. It has deeply infiltrated the fabric of the Nigerian federation and is rendering vital organs or institutions of the country ineffective in-service delivery. The introduction of e-governance in public service brings possibilities for improvement as it strengthens governance through information technology. It is against this background that this paper examines e-governance as a way to ameliorate corruption in public establishments with special reference to the federal Ministry of Interior. The central aim is to come up with ideas that will promote quality service delivery and reduce the occurrence of corruption in the public service. The paper relied largely on the qualitative method of analysis, in which relevant historical evidences, books, journals and newspaper reports were content analyzed. The institutional theory forms the theoretical frame work of the study. The findings show that e-governance helps to improve the efficiency level of traditional bureaucratic systems. This is achieved through the use of information technology to streamline government processes, performance measurement and accountability mechanisms thus reducing the incidence of corrupt practices. The paper recommends a paradigm shift from bureaucratic processes of decision-making that involve physical interactions to e-interaction relying on e-technology. Importantly, the requisite infrastructural instruments for e-governance utility are imperative
