For any stage in education to achieve its milestones, there must be level of school effectiveness. This effectiveness relates to one of the efforts made by school to achieve what it was really created for, and make changes toward student level of achievement. To achieve this effectiveness, there is a new innovation called Montessori education where there must be a match between the child\u27s natural interests and the available activities to help children learn through their own experience and at their own pace to achieve the nursery and primary milestones. While in Nigeria, there seem to be numbers of Montessori schools even though very few of these Montessori schools understand what the approach or method is really all about. The associated benefits and challenges of Montessori education were also identified, while it also suggests the way forward. The Social Cognitive Theory and the Diffusion of Innovation Theory were used to underpin the study

The Nigerian Co-operative Law: Taking the Baton from P.A. Oluyede

    Get PDF
Some of the challenges hindering the development of co-operatives and their governing laws in Nigeria are the inadequacy of literature, and the lack of standardized classification on the subject of co-operative law. With the aim to identify and espouse relevant literature on the subject matter, this paper seeks to collect, collate and review the relevant literature. A classic was identified in the work of P.A. Oluyede (1988) Nigeria Administrative Law, in chapter four, entitled “Public Corporations, and Public Enterprises.” Among other findings, the learned author dedicated the chapter to the historical development of Nigerian co-operative societies and their governing laws, situated cooperatives as public enterprises, and made recommendations. Furthermore, it was observed that there have been few contributions within the annals of the Nigerian academic and research community on co-operative law. Thus, Oluyede’s classics retains its position as a primary reference material for the modernization of the Nigerian cooperative law and sets the path for its standardization. However, supposedly consequential development has remained elusive, hence the imperatives to build on some of the positions espoused in Oluyede’s chapter in view of current realities. Although P.A Oluyede’s contribution retains its position as a top-notch reference material, some of the positions canvassed are no longer applicable to Nigerian co-operatives, hence the need to review Nigerian cooperative law as recommended.&nbsp

    Get PDF
acquisition of an unexpired lease on a property or even an outright sale of the property. Inheritance is the devolution of property on an heir or heirs, upon the death of the owner. However, property can be passed to another while the owner is still alive and not as sale but as a gift inter vivos. It is a transfer of property while the owner of the property is still alive which ordinarily would have formed part of the assets of the estate of the owner when he eventually dies. The aim of this study is to analyse the legal implications of a transfer of an inter vivos gift and compare it to a testamentary disposition of assets. The methodology adopted in this research is a qualitative research with the use of materials from primary and secondary sources providing a detailed study on inter vivos gifts, the elements, the requirements, challenges associated with this method of disposition of assets and how to revoke an inter vivos gift as well as its enforcement even after the death of the donor. This paper also proposes and recommends to incorporate the disposition of a gift inter vivos into a testamentary distribution of assets in order to give the transaction more legal protection while seeking to enforce it. The general notion that a gift inter vivos of land should be supported by legal documentation is laudable however, this paper will demonstrate the necessity for such a gift to also be included in the Will or any other document apart from the transaction paper
