    Extent of Teachers Related Factors on Learning of Science Among Senior Secondary School Students in Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State

    Science education is essential for equipping students with the skills and knowledgerequired to thrive in a technology-driven society. However, the learning of science subjects by students often faces numerous challenges. One critical factor thatinfluences students\u27 academic success in science is the role of teachers. Teachersplay an important role in shaping students\u27 attitudes, engagement, and overallacademic achievement. Factors such as teacher personality, teaching methodology,communication skills, and motivational strategies can significantly affect students\u27learning outcomes in science. This study investigated the extent to which teacher-related factors; personality, teaching methodology, communication skills, andmotivational strategies enhance learning of science subjects in Senior SecondarySchools within the Ibadan South East Local Government Area, Oyo State, Nigeria.Using a descriptive research design, 200 science students were randomly selectedfrom 10 schools to participate in the study. Data were collected through structuredquestionnaire titled “Teachers’ Related Factors and Learning of ScienceQuestionnaire (TRFLSQ) of reliability coefficient index of 0.88 and analyzed usingdescriptive statistics. The findings revealed that all four teacher-related factorsmoderately enhance learning of science among the students and play a role inimproving student outcomes, though to varying extents.     Physicochemical Properties Evaluation of Well and Borehole Water-Samples from Elebu District, Iddo LGA, Ibadan, Nigeria

    Throughout ages, water has proven to be an indispensable liquid for life,food production, agriculture, domestic and industrial uses. Access topotable water in Nigeria poses a challenge due to infrastructural deficit.Well and boreholes remain major sources of potable water and in eventof poor practices, the risk of contamination is imminent. Hence,continuous evaluation of water quality designated for specific purposesremains a necessity and is thus the underpinning of this study. A total ofeleven (11) sites namely: Eleta, Yidi, Akuru, Adedayo, Kuyoro, Elebumarket, Ajokankan, Health centre, Police station, Lawyer Oke, Olanlegestreets, respectively were randomly selected from Elebu district. Tensamples each from well and borehole were collected and analyzed forphysicochemical properties: pH, Conductivity (C); Total DissolvedSolids (TDS), Alkalinity, Salinity, hydrogen ion concentration (H+), (pH)were determined in the laboratory using standard techniques. Salinity, TDS and conductivity between January to March, 2024. Results revealedthat pH of well and borehole water varied between 6.36±0.02 to7.21±0.02 and 6.40± 0.01 to 7.10± 0.02 respectively and fell withinWHO recommended limits of 6.4 to 8.5. Furthermore, the totalhardness of well and borehole water ranged between 4.92±0.02 mg/Lto 15.40± 0.10 mg/L and 7.84± 0.02 mg/L to 12.43 to 0.02 mg/Lrespectively and fell within World Health Organization (WHO)recommended limits of 0.0 to 180.0 mg/L. Iron (Fe) content of well andborehole water ranged between 1.21±0.21 mg/L to 3.17± 0.03 mg/Land 1.91± 0.03 mg/L to 3.84± 0.04 mg/L respectively which far exceedsWHO standards of 0.3 mg/L to 1.0 mg/L. Results from this study indicatethat water from the wells and borehole in Elebu district of Ibadan is highin iron content load, hence there is need for water treatment procedureto engender safe water supply to the district

    PERSONAL FACTORS AND SERVICE DELIVERY OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PRACTITIONERS IN UNIVERSITY TEACHING HOSPITALS, SOUTH-WEST, NIGERIA

    Service delivery by Health Information Management (HIM) practitioners contributes to patients’healthcare services. Previous studies reported that the services received by patients are declining.This decline has given rise to reluctance in seeking medical attention, adhering to medicalguidance, and participating in health initiatives. Studies have shown that personal factors inuniversity teaching hospitals can affect service delivery. However, the variable has not been fullymeasured in the literature to determine its influence on service delivery. Therefore, this studyinvestigated the influence of personal factors on service delivery. HIM practitioners in universityteaching hospitals, South-West, Nigeria. The study employed survey research design. Thepopulation comprised 417 HIM practitioners and 468,654 outpatients. Total enumeration was usedfor HIM practitioners and Krejcie and Morgan’s formula was used to derive the sample size of422 outpatients. Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficients for the constructs ranged from 0.70 to0.97. The response rate was 100% and 92% for outpatients and HIM practitioners respectively.Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential (simple and multiple regression) statistics.Findings revealed personal factors have a positive and significant influence on service delivery(Adj.R2 = 0.17, F(1, 383) = 77.38, p < 0.05). The study concluded that personal factors enhanced service delivery of health information management practitioners in university teaching hospitalsin South-West, Nigeria

    Digital Literacy and Skills of Information Professionals in the 21st Century

    In a time of rapid technological development and constantly growing digital environment,information professionals are essential to the efficient management, organization and sharing ofknowledge. To understand and take advantage of the changing technology platforms, theseprofessionals need to possess strong digital literacy and technological abilities in addition totheir traditional competencies. This study examined expected digital literacy and skills requiredof information professionals in the 21st Century. Survey research design was adopted for thisstudy. The population of the study consisted of 49 library personnel from Fatiu AdemolaAkesode Library, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, Nigeria. Total enumeration was adoptedfor the study. Questionnaire was used for data collection and data collected was analysed usingfrequency counts, simple percentages, standard deviation. The results were presented in tablesand percentages. The findings revealed that the level of digital literacy skills of librarypersonnel in Fatiu Ademola Akesode Library was high. Attendance of trainings on digitalliteracy exposed the respondents to the current skills and trends in ICT. Institutional supportand sponsorship to attend trainings motivates the respondent, making them to be moreproductive. Digital literacy tools mostly used by information professionals include Facebook,Youtube and Snapchat (social media tools), Google and yahoo (search engines), KOHA andLibib (Library Management Software) and Google meet and zoom (web conferencing tools).Challenges to digital literacy skills acquisition were inability of respondents to access thecentral internet from their respective offices, uncooperative attitude of ICT personnel in theinstitution to provide assistance when needed and biased selection of candidates for sponsoredtrainings. Digital literacy and skills are requisite skills required of information professionals.Therefore, library management should encourage information professionals to attend trainings,workshops and conferences on digital literacy skills. Library management should also provideinternet connection and stable electricity supply within the library at all times

    Learning Strategies and Integrated Science Students Scientific Literacy Level in Colleges of Education, NorthCentral, Nigeria

    The paper examined the impact of Integrated Learning Strategies on the scientific literacy of college science students. The study adopted a quasi experimental design using intact classes. Two research questions and hypotheses were each asked and tested. The population for the study comprised all colleges of education in north-central Nigeria; two colleges were randomly sampled by the use of table of random numbers. A total of 80 students formed the experimental group and 100 students formed the controlgroup. A science literacy test validated with a reliability index of .74 was administered before and after the intervention and scored for data pool. The data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics at p<0.05 level of significance. Results showed that the scores obtained by the experimental group exposed to the Integrated Teaching Strategy were higher than the scores of the control group on the basis of scientific literacy and that there was a significant difference in the scores of the experimental and controlgroups. It was also found out that there was no significant difference in the scores of male and female colleges of education science students with reference to scientific literacy. It was recommended that the use of Integrated Learning Strategies should be encouraged since it can improve scientific literacy and it  is gender friendly

    Job Motivation as Correlates of Quality Service Delivery by Library Personnel in Agricultural Research Institutes, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria

    The delivery of quality library services is a fundamental responsibility of any researchinstitute libraries. However, Library personnel that are responsible for delivering libraryservice require some level of motivation that gives room for involvement and responsibility.Some studies have reported low quality service delivery in some agricultural researchlibraries in Nigeria. The study, therefore, investigated job motivation as correlates of qualityservice delivery by library personnel in agricultural research institutes, Ibadan, Oyo State,Nigeria. The study adopted a survey design of the correlational type. The population of thestudy comprised 78 library personnel and 218 library users who are agricultural scientist in6 research institute in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Total enumeration technique was used forinclusion of library personnel and 3% for registered agricultural researchers who use libraryservices. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection and data was analysedusing descriptive statistics, Pearson’s Moment Correlation and multiple regression at 0.05level of significance. The level of job motivation of library staff is moderate (????? = 79.21). Mostpeople are intrinsically hardworking but others need to be pushed into completing work(x?=2.99). On tangibility, appearance of the physical facilities are consistent with the type ofservice rendered in the library (x?=2.95), for reliability; promises are delivered withinspecified time (x?=2.97). Responsiveness: situations in the library are treated with care andseriousness (x?=2.97). On assurance, it is safe to use the library and its equipment (x?=2.96),empathy: librarians are knowledgeable and skilful to talk with (x?=2.97). There was asignificant positive relationship between job motivation and quality service delivery (???? =0.719; ???? = 0.00, ; ???? < 0.05). Job motivation is a significant predictor of quality servicedelivery of library personnel. Management of institute of agriculture should put more effortin place to ensure that motivation level of the library staff moves from moderate to high.Perhaps, there should be increase in salary and other incentives of which will serve as anencouragement and improve their level of motivation

    Bridging the Gap: Individual Needs and Perceived Academic Achievements of Students through Personalised Knowledge Delivery by Librarians in Crescent University, Ogun State, Nigeria

    Perceived academic achievement in contemporary timesof information abundance requiresstudents ability to effectively sieve and utilise relevant knowledge which is fundamental toattaining the requisite academic achievement. This study therefore, investigated individualneeds, perceived academic achievement and personalised knowledge delivery amongundergraduate students of Crescent University, Abeokuta in Ogun State. Multi-stage samplingtechnique was used to select 331 undergraduates from five colleges and eight departments out ofwhich 44.7% and 55.3% of the respondents were male and female respectively; 96.3% and 3.7%were in 400 and 500 levels.Primary data were obtained on Individual needs, perceivedacademic achievements (PAA) and personalised knowledge delivery (PKD) through the use ofadapted questionnaires. Data were analysed using mean and standard deviation. Results revealthat the level of personalised knowledge delivery in meeting my academic goals was (= 3.15),quality of one-on-one consultations with librarians (= 3.06) and rating the librarians\u27 ability topersonalise services (= 3.03). The individual needs are visitation to the library to meet myacademic/ personal information needs (= 3.25) and frequently seek library resources such asbooks, journals, digital databases (= 3.10). The perceived academic achievementsare moreconfident with success in my academics (= 3.18), and confident to improve my academic grades(= 3.16). Furthermore, challenges militating againstPKD are librarians not identifying myneeds (= 2.65), lazy attitude to reading (aliteracy) (2.64), and too much information to deal withwithout guidance (= 2.61). It is recommended that the university should invest more ondevelopment training for Librarians to encourage them in discharging their duties. Librariesshould therefore adopt a user-centered library approach when developing and implementinginnovative service

    Big Data Analytics in Population Health Management: Transforming Healthcare Delivery

    Big data analytics is transforming population health management (PHM) by deliveringactionable insights to improve health outcomes, optimize care delivery, and reduce healthcarecosts. By integrating and analyzing vast volumes of structured and unstructured data fromdiverse sources, such as Electronic Health Records (EHRs), wearable devices, claims data, andsocial determinants of health (SDOH), health systems can identify trends, patterns, andactionable insights at both individual and population levels. These data sets, characterized bythe “4 Vs” (Volume, Velocity, Variety, and Veracity), are central to evidence-based healthcarestrategies. In PHM, big data analytics facilitates the identification of at-risk populations usingadvanced predictive models. Through patient risk stratification, healthcare providers can designtargeted preventive interventions, thereby mitigate the prevalence of chronic diseases andreduce hospital readmissions. Prescriptive analytics further supports equitable resourceallocation, ensuring that healthcare services reach underserved populations. Real-time datafrom wearable devices and sensors enhances decision-making, especially during emergencies ordisease outbreaks, where timely responses are critical. Big data analytics also enableshealthcare systems to address social determinants of health, such as socioeconomic status,housing, and education, which are pivotal to understanding and reducing health inequities. Byanalyzing these drivers, public health systems can implement population-wide interventions thattackle the root causes of disparities. Cognitive analytics, powered by artificial intelligence (AI),deepens these insights by modeling complex scenarios and offering innovative strategies forintervention. Despite its vast potential, challenges such as data standardization,interoperability, privacy, security, and governance frameworks hinder the widespread adoptionof big data analytics in PHM. Addressing these barriers is essential to ensure high-quality,accurate, and comprehensive datasets that yield meaningful insights for decision-making.Applications of big data analytics in PHM are evident in initiatives like chronic diseasemanagement, reducing hospital readmissions, and public health campaigns. For example,during the COVID-19 pandemic, analytics played a pivotal role in monitoring infection rates,informing public health policies, and managing vaccine distribution effectively. In conclusion,big data analytics is reshaping population health management by enabling precise, efficient,and equitable healthcare delivery. While challenges persist, advancements in data science andanalytics technologies hold the potential to address these barriers and unlock the fullcapabilities of big data. This transformation positions healthcare systems to deliver improvedhealth outcomes for populations globally
