Despite the efforts of African countries\u27 governments and foreign countries\u27 governments, there are cautions between the people of Africa and the people of other countries. The cautions are based on the ideology of misconception, which comes from the narratives about Africa and African people and other people. Film is a mass medium of educating people about people in foreign countries they have never been to. Negative or misconceived narratives of a people by another people will affect the relations between the peoples, notwithstanding the politics of their governments. Using the popculture medium of film as a diplomatic tool will promote mutual understanding and respect among people of different countries, and this will change the negative narratives between the peoples

The negative consequences of global warming have debilitating effects on human and environment. Due to some unfavourable practices that are associated with livestock productions, the world is experiencing worsening air quality, rising temperatures and increased frequency of extreme weather events. Despite its inimical health consequences on human and environment, the preceding studies focused mainly on knowledge, attitude and practices of global warming, with little attention on behaviours that can increase the risk of experiencing global warming, particularly among livestock farmers. Hence, this study investigated knowledge, attitude and at-risk behaviour towards global warming among livestock farmers inOyo State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional research design was employed in this study, while livestock farmers were the population. The disproportionate stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select a total of one hundred (100) respondents. A self-developed questionnaire was used for data collection. The descriptive and inferential statistics of Pearson Product Moment Correlation were used for data analysis. The results revealed that the level of knowledge of global warming was high (weighted mean=1.79) among livestock farmers in Oyo State, attitude (weighted mean=2.65) was positive; while at-risk behaviour (weighted mean=1.64) were negative. Moreover, there was a significant positive relationship between knowledge and attitude towards global warming (r=0.897) among the livestock farmers; while knowledge had negative relationship with at-risk behaviour (r=-0.800) among the respondents. It was established that, the level of knowledge of global warming was high among livestock farmers in Oyo State; attitude was positive; while their at-risk behaviour was negative. Knowledge had a significant positive relationship with attitude, but had a negative relationship with at-risk behaviour of the farmers. The Oyo State Ministry of Environment should ensure that periodic health education is organised for livestock farmers to improve their attitude and behaviour that could contribute to global warming.&nbsp

The importance of higher education to sustainable national development cannot be overemphasized. In Nigeria, tertiary education is planned and organized among others to; contribute to national development through high level manpower training and to provide accessible and affordable quality learning opportunities in formal and informal education. However, it has been observed that achievement of these goals in Nigeria is becoming increasingly difficult in the face of the current ICT and technologically driven global economy. This paper explored the relationship among higher education, innovative research and sustainable manpower development in Nigeria. The paper equally examined the myriads of problems militating against innovative research and sustainable manpower (in the nation’s tertiary institutions) and make suggestions on strategies that could be adopted to ameliorate the problems. The paper concluded that the provision of quality manpower resources is crucial and strategic for all round development of the nation and that higher education plays a prominent role in this regard. Hence, innovative research which is the fulcrum of today’s knowledge economy should be encouraged in the higher institutions of learning. This can be achieved by providing adequate fund, integrating digital technology, skill acquisition and computer literacy into the curriculum among others, and ensuring high standards in the quality of facilities and resources supplied to the higher institutions

It has been demonstrated that using birds to identify priority sites for conservation action and mitigation measures is an effective method. Between March and June of 2022, a field survey of birds was carried out in the Awba and Eleiyele dams in Oyo State, Nigeria, to ascertain the species diversity, abundance, and feeding guilds. The Line Transect Approach was used to acquire the data. Based on the species, migratory or non-migratory status, and feeding guild of the birds observed throughout the survey, different groups of birds were identified. The two dams\u27 respective mean bird densities were calculated and compared using a t-test, and PAST software was used to examine species diversity indices. A total of 2,152 birds from 59 species (33 families and 12 orders) were counted, with 1,286 (59.76%) of them at Awba Dam and 866 (40.24%) at Eleiyele Dam. Vanellusspinosus was the species with the highest abundance in the Awba dam (n = 72; 8.31%), whereas Oriolusnigripennis had the highest abundance in the Eleiyele dam (n = 204; 15.86%). There was no discernible difference between the bird densities at Awba Dam (51.44 birds/km2) and Eleiyele Dam (30.95 birds/km2) (t value=1.679; p=0.097). Black-winged orioles were more numerous (8.16 birds/km2) at Awba Dam than Spur-winged lapwings were at Eleiyele Dam (72 birds/km2). Awba Dam has a higher Shannon diversity index and evenness score than Eleiyele Dam (3.102 and 0.654 vs. 3.702 and 0.862, respectively). In Eleiyele and Awba dams, the birds were divided into 10 and 8 feeding guilds, respectively. Insectivores (27, 33%) and carnivores (15, 19%) were the most commonly reported species. Two dams could potentially serve as locations for avian tourism and conservation due to their high avian richness if they are properly managed. In order to ensure the ecosystem\u27s survival, it is advised that a strategy for avian conservation be implemented into the dam management programme.&nbsp
