Phonological Analysis of Digital Advertising Campaigns in Nigerian Media Platforms and their Implications for Sustainable Consumer Education
This paper does a phonological analysis of the spoken English employed in advertising campaigns by Nigerian digital marketers. By answering four research questions, it provides insights into the phonological resources and linguistic strategies used by Nigerian digital marketers, their impact on audience engagement, and alignment with sustainable education objectives. The study employs a mixed-methods research design, with a qualitative phonological content analysis of language use in advertising campaigns and a quantitative analysis of data gathered from 100 responses to a digital questionnaire on audience perceptions and responses to the identified phonological features and linguistic themes. The study fills the gap in knowledge regarding how language can be leveraged to achieve the goals of advertising campaigns and sustainable consumer education. The study found Code-mixing, Pronunciation Variations, Alliteration, and Wordplay were among the strategies that gained the most customer engagement across platforms and resulted in behaviour change. It also found that messages about sustainable education goals were not very prominent in the campaigns. Based on the findings, the paper makes recommendations on how various phonological strategies can be employed to enhance the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and promote sustainable education. The study is hinged on Howard Giles\u27 (1973) Accommodation Theory; Petty and Cacioppo’s (1986) Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), and Mezirow\u27s (1991) Transformative Learning Theory. The findings contribute to existing knowledge in the field of Nigerian English phonology, effective digital marketing strategies, and language resources that promote sustainable consumer education
Fiscal and Monetary Policies on Small-Scale Construction Enterprises (SSCE) in Imo state Nigeria: The Pecuniary Glitch
Along with the COVID-19 pandemic saga, business operations in the Nigerian state have severely deteriorated in the past two years. The country\u27s economy has benefited from the small-scale industry, with the construction industry playing a significant role. However, a significant hindrance that is clearly assessed in this study is the availability of fast and enough money to support the operations of the stakeholders in this industry. Using a well-structured questionnaire and a systematic sampling strategy, data were gathered from small-sized construction businesses in the Imo state. Utilizing frequencies, percentages, and mean analysis, the data was examined. It was revealed that commercial and microfinance banks are among the top financiers of the identified small-scale construction enterprises. However, the level of financial aid accessible to them is quite low with (18.75%) of the small contractors been limited to 500,000-1m; (31.25%) have access to 1.5m-2m and 2.5m-3m respectively, (12.5%) are limited to 3.5m-4m and 6.25% are limited to 5m and above which establishes the fact that the lower the range of financial aid requested the higher the rate of access given. Interest rates, with a mean value of 4.43 and government policies with a mean value of 4.41 are two elements that have an enormous influence on the availability of these financial help. Government regulation of fiscal and monetary policies, as well as encouragement of the minimization of interest on loans available to these firms, are all recommended in order to improve service delivery in small-scale construction enterprises in Nigeri
Impact of Green Cement on Sustainable Development of Lagos Megacity
Cement production is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions globally, and Lagos Mega City is not exempted from the impact of this industry on its environment. Green cement, a more sustainable alternative to traditional cement, has been proposed as a solution to reduce the carbon footprint of cement production. This study assessed green cement for promoting sustainable development in Lagos Mega City. A quantitative research method was used in the form of a survey questionnaire administered to Building Industry professionals (BIPs) in Lagos Mega City to investigate the level of awareness of green cement, its potential and barriers to sustainable development. 121 responses gotten was coded and analyzed using statistical techniques for Social Sciences (SPSS). The study identified the potential economic, social, and environmental benefits of green cement for Lagos Mega City alongside challenges and barriers to its adoption. The finding revealed that the level of awareness of what green cement is seems to be foreign to professionals in the built environment with over 76% acknowledging little or no knowledge of the term. However, despite the low awareness level, and difference in opinion on impact, a close look suggested acceptance of his positive environmental benefits to Lagos Mega City’s sustainable development. This result provides evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and industry experts on how green cement can be integrated into the construction industry of Lagos Mega City to achieve sustainable development
Impact of Internet Usage on Students’ Academic Performance in Some Selected Senior Secondary Schools in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State
This Study looks into the usage of the internet and its impact on the academic performance of students in some selected Senior Secondary Schools in Epe Local government Area of Lagos State. A questionnaire was used to gather data from 105 SS I and SSII students through random sampling and was then analysed using descriptive statistics and an independent samples t-test. The result revealed that Internet outlets for SSS I & II students include school ICT labs, mobile phones, Internet facilities for families, and public cyber cafes. Also, internet access influences academic growth among students, as those with internet access have shown a higher improvement in academic performance than those without, while different internet use, on the other hand, has no impact on academic performance, as shown in the results. Similarly, the presence of several sources of internet connectivity does not guarantee immediate access to all of them. Therefore, it was recommended that all the Heads of schools, sessions, etc. should liaise with other stakeholders (i.e. Educational district, SUBEB, PFA, etc.) to provide internet facilities with management support. It was also recommended that to support student practical classes, the School ICT Laboratories should be well equipped with internet facilities and students should be taught how to use search engines to search online for academic materials. This is vital because the provision of school internet facilities plays a very important role in enhancing academic performance

Change in Value System: Undermining Academic Integrity and Innovative Research
Innovative research is an extension of quality education through academic integrity, and academic integrity is a product of societal value systems. In this study, academic integrity is examined, as it relates to global society. The value system of society is the key factor in building academic integrity, which will, in the long run, affect the quality of education for sustainable development. The question is, to what extent society affects academic integrity? This study applies the Virtue Theory of Ethics in a qualitative methodology of an evaluation research design, using a thematic analysis instrument to answer the question. In any society, certain things are compromised once the value system changes. To imbibe the culture of academic integrity, societal values must promote a system for such to thrive. If not, everyone wants things for the wrong reasons. This leads to a dearth of ability to perform, even innovative research. Then, all the values of academic integrity become scarce commodities, and it becomes difficult to cope with the required values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage whether as students, teachers, researchers, workers, or leaders; this affects the quality of education for innovative research and sustainable development. To imbibe the culture of academic integrity in everyone, societal values must change from just having a certificate to having the ability to perform duties innovatively as demanded by whatever the work requires
