    Education as a Fundamental Right and Its Role in Societal Progress

    Socioeconomic status (SES) is a critical factor influencing access toquality education, a fundamental component of social mobility andsocietal equity. In many societies, SES shapes not only the financialresources available to individuals and families but also their ability toaccess quality learning environments, which, in turn, has profoundimplications for their educational outcomes. This paper delves into thecomplex relationship between SES and educational opportunities,exploring how various dimensions of SES, including income,geographic location, and cultural capital, shape learning experiencesand outcomes across diverse populations. Through the lens of globaldata and case studies from different regions, the analysis uncoverssignificant systemic disparities that contribute to unequal access toeducation, disproportionately affecting children from low-income andmarginalized backgrounds. Historical, social, and institutional barriersoften perpetuate these disparities that hinder efforts to achieve trueeducational equity. The paper examines the role of income as a keydeterminant of educational access, highlighting the challenges faced byfamilies in lower-income brackets who struggle to afford privateeducation, supplemental learning resources, and necessary schoolsupplies. It also explores the geographic divide in education, whererural and remote areas often face limited access to quality schools,teachers, and infrastructure, further compounding educationaldisadvantages. Additionally, the concept of cultural capital, asintroduced by Pierre Bourdieu, is explored, illustrating how parentaleducation, social networks, and the transmission of cultural knowledgeimpact a child’s educational success. The paper emphasizes that theseintersecting factors of SES work together to create a cycle of inequality,where disadvantaged students face multiple barriers to success.Drawing on these insights, the paper highlights a range of effectivepolicy interventions aimed at addressing these disparities andpromoting educational equity. These include recommendations forequitable school funding, ensuring that all schools, regardless of theirstudents\u27 socioeconomic backgrounds, have access to high-quality resources, facilities, and trained teachers. The importance of investingin early childhood education is also stressed, as it has been shown toprovide foundational skills and support that can set children on a pathto long-term academic success. Furthermore, the paper highlights theneed for targeted initiatives to bridge the digital divide, ensuring thatstudents from low-income families have access to the technology andinternet connectivity necessary for modern learning environments.These strategies, among others, are designed to close the educationalachievement gap and ensure that education remains a universal humanright, accessible to all, regardless of their socioeconomic status.Ultimately, the paper calls for a concerted effort from policymakers,educators, and communities to address the systemic barriers thatperpetuate inequality in education. By implementing comprehensivestrategies to address the diverse factors that impact SES andeducational opportunities, societies can create more equitableeducational systems that offer every child the chance to succeed.Achieving this goal is not only a moral imperative but also a necessarystep toward building a more just and inclusive societ

    217 Instructional Scaffolding Teaching Approach on Senior Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement in Financial Accounting in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State

    This study examined the effect of Instructional Scaffolding approach on theacademic achievement of senior secondary school students in FinancialAccounting in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State. Apretest, post-test, control group, quasi-experimental design was used with a3x2 factorial design. The sample size consisted of 114 SS2 commercialstudents from three schools within the Local Government Area. PurposiveSampling Technique was used in selecting the schools and an intact financialaccounting class was adopted. Data collection tools include questionnaire andachievement test, with a Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI) package developed by the researchers. T-test at a significance level of 0.05 was used to test thehypotheses. Results revealed a mean difference of 19.23, indicating higherperformance scores for students in the experimental group. InstructionalScaffolding approach exhibits a differential effect on academic achievement.Gender differences were observed, with a slight advantage favoring femalestudents in the mean difference of Instructional Scaffolding Teaching Method(1.03). However, male students outperform their female counterparts underconventional teaching methods with a mean score of 13.69. Recommendationsinclude the implementation of this method in financial accounting curricula toenhance students’ engagement and foster improved academic achievement

    As a critical component of the national economies, the need for an efficient and effectiveproperty management cannot be overemphasized. The real estate sector which propertymanagement is part of, has significantly contributed and still contributing to the national growthin terms of employment, economic growth and investment development. The current globaltransformational changes in the sector due to the evolving technologies has further exposes theneed for the integration and the likely potentials of the emerging technologies to revolutionizesthe country’s real estate sub-sector that could engender transparency, and operational efficiencyleading to customer satisfaction and national growth. Hence, this study investigates theperceptions of property managers on the readiness of the sub-sector to embrace PropTech andpropose strategies for its successful integration in Osogbo property market, Osun state, Nigeria.As a perceptional study, inferences were drawn from both the existing literatures and theperceptions of the respondents. It highlights the transformative impact of PropTech on propertymanagement practices and its applicability in the state. Findings revealed its nascent adoption inthe state with significant challenges around lack of expertise, infrastructural deficits, highimplementation costs among others. The research concluded that despite these barriers,opportunities exist in the form of government initiatives, and the unabated national urbanizationrate. It underscores the need for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to foster a technology-driven real estate sector that enhances service delivery and promotes sustainable growth

    Impact of Foreign Direct Investment and Interest Rates on Nigerian Economic Growth

    Despite numerous efforts by the government to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into the economy, the flow of FDI still remains abysmal in Nigeria. This paper investigates the impact of foreign direct investment inflows and interest rates on the economic growth of Nigeria for the period 1978–2019. The study employed secondary data extracted from the World Bank Development Indicator. The auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) technique was used to examine both the short-run and long-run relationships between the variables.The results indicated that FDI has no positive impact on the growth of the Nigerian economy, while gross fixed capital formation has a positive and significant impact. However, interest rates and inflation rates have a negative but insignificant influence on economic growth. The study recommends that there is a need for a thorough analysis of the institutional and economicfactors that enable the beneficial influence of FDI inflows on developing nations, and efforts should be made to strengthen these factors

    This study examines Information Systems and Cyber Security for Sustainable Development in Nigeria. Increased internet penetration has brought with it challenges such as cyber security and digital privacy issues. Addressing these issues in a way that protects the tremendous economic and social values that information technology presents, without stifling innovation, requires a fresh look at the enhanced sustainable development goals of the United Nations. The study made use of a survey research design in which 105 respondents who were IT professionals and cyber security experts were administered questionnaires.Data analysis was done using SPSS version 25.0. The findings showed that cyber-security, data regulation and sustainability are the key to the digital transformation processes in the coming years. Also, further findings revealed that the development of environmental technologies along with their cyber-security is one of the aims of the realization of sustainable production and domestic security concepts. The study recommends the need for improved cyber-security strategies, policies, and programs

    Artificial Intelligence; A computational and Linear Programming approach

    Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a potent tool for resolving complicated issues in a variety of fields. This study investigates how computational and linear programming approaches, in particular, may be used to solve practical problems. The computational side of AI includes creating models and algorithms that replicate human reasoning and decisionmaking processes. A branch of mathematical optimization known as "linear programming" tries to maximize or minimize a linear objective function while taking into account a number of linear constraints. Combining these strategies will enable us to maximize efficiency, increase decision-making, and better allocate resources across a variety of industries, including banking, logistics, healthcare, and manufacturing. The theoretical underpinnings of computational and linear programming approaches are examined in this study, and case studies showing how they have been successfully used in practical scenarios. The results highlight the effectiveness of AI-driven computational and linear programming approaches in tackling complex problems, ultimately leading to improved outcomes and increased productivity. As AI continues to advance, further research and innovation in these areas hold great promise for solving even more intricate challenges in the future.&nbsp

    Comparative Study of Selected Minerals and Vitamin C Content of Sun-Dried Okra, Oven- Air Dried Okra and Fresh Okra

    Okra is an economical important vegetable crop that serves as food and medicine as they are vital sources of vitamin and minerals. Dry season affect the availability and consumption as cost of vegetable increases. However, appropriate preservation process would ensure their all year availability. This study evaluates selected minerals & vitamin content in fresh, sundried,oven-air,andcooked samples of okra. Raw & fresh okra was purchased in a local market in Ibadan and was taken to the Dietetics kitchen for preparation &later taken through analysis for proximate and minerals content. Results of the study shows that the moisture content of fresh okra, in its raw and cooked form was significantly higher than other samples (82.35%) and (66.72%) respectively. Raw oven-air dried okra has the highest value of crudefiber(4.39%),NFE(57.86%) and total ash (2.85%), raw sun-dried has the highest value in crude protein (9.37%) and dry matter (82.82%),NFE (63.83)and has the highest value in crude fat (3.57%). The mineral content of okra in raw oven-air dried has the highest value in potassium (921.6mg), iron(3.14mg)and calcium(10.41mg), raw sun-dried okra has the highest value in phosphorus(157.86mg),cooked sun-dried okra has the highest value in calcium & iron (11.42mg)( 6.30mg)respectively, while the raw fresh okra has the highest value for vitamin C (31.28mg) but lower in the cooked.     Impact of Urban Mining Towards Sustainability of Lagos Mega City

    Urban mining is a concept that involves the extraction of valuable materials from waste generated in cities. Lagos Mega City is facing a significant challenge in managing its waste, with a significant portion being disposed of in landfill sites, leading to environmental degradation and health hazards. This research aims to assess the impact of urban mining towards sustainable development in Lagos Mega City. This research adopted a quantitative research design method with a random sampling technique used in administering a survey questionnaire to residents of Lagos Mega City to assess their familiarity and knowledge of urban mining and its impact on sustainable development. The data collected from the survey were analyzed using statistical tools. The study identified respondents\u27 familiarity, level of knowledge and the challenges of urban mining practices in Lagos Megacity. The result showed that 60no (49.6%) are familiar with the urban mining concept while 27no (22.3%) are not familiar and 34no (28.1%) are neutral, also the level of knowledge 37no (30.6%) are not knowledgeable, 49no (40.5%) are knowledgeable while 35no (28.9%) are neutral, lack of awareness constituted 75.2% of the challenges/drawback. The study recommended that efforts should be made by all stakeholders to raise awareness of urban mining especially among the young age to maximize the benefits of urban mining especially waste management strategy to achieve sustainable development in Lagos Mega City

    Knowledge of Global Warming and Associated Factors among Crop Production Farmers in Oyo Zone, Oyo State, Nigeria

    Global warming is a serious environmental and economic issue confronting the world. It is a threat multiplier that worsens health conditions. Correspondingly, crop production is a significant contributor to anthropogenic global warming and reducing crop production emissions. In spite of the agriculturalrelated challenges associated with global warming, previous studies focus on its knowledge across different population, with little concentration on crop production farmers. This study therefore, examined knowledge of global warming and associated factors among crop production farmers in Oyo Zone, Oyo State, Nigeria. Cross-sectional research design was used; registered crop production farmers of Oyo State Agric-business Development Agency were the population; while multistage sampling procedure was used to select a total of eighty seven (87) respondents. The result revealed that the level of knowledge of global warming was high (weighted mean=1.74) among crop production farmers in Oyo Zone. Furthermore, there was a significant gender difference in knowledge of global 2 warming (t=3.29, df=85, p<0.05). Also, age (÷ =27.07, df=3, p<0.05) and educational qualification 2(÷ =34.89, df=3, p<0.05) had significant association with knowledge of global warming among the farmers. It was concluded that the knowledge of global warming was high among crop production farmers in Oyo Zone; of which male farmers had better understanding than their female counterparts. Also, age and educational qualification had significant association with knowledge of global warming among the farmers. The State Ministries of Health and Education should therefore intensify efforts to jointly organise periodic sensitization programme on knowledge of global warming specifically for crop production farmers.&nbsp
