Supervised Ministry as a Pedagogical Tool in Theological Training of Baptist Student Pastors in Nigeria
Theological education is fundamental to the life of religious organizations. The ministry and service of any Christian denomination are a reflection of the quality of theological education given to its leaders. Pastors play significant roles in nurturing the faith and guiding their congregants which requires some special skills, and supervised ministry, a structured mentoring programme integrated into theological training of pastors to help them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world ministry settings is central in acquiring these skills. This study explores the significance of supervised ministry as a pedagogical tool in the theological training of Baptist student pastors in Nigeria, emphasizing its indispensability in impacting requisite skills in intending church pastors. It highlights the components of supervised ministry that contributed to the overall ministerial developments of student pastors in the Nigeria Baptist Convention theological institutions. The study adopts a systematic literature review of scholarly articles, journals, books, and other academic resources to explore the indispensability of supervised ministry as a pedagogical tool. The findings reveal that pedagogy is broadly connected with the theory and practice of imparting knowledge and the science of teaching. Supervised ministry served as a pedagogical tool through its comprehensive frameworks like experiential learning, reflection and integration, skill development, formation, and identity development, cultural competence and contextual awareness, professional accountability and ethics, pastoral care skills, feedback and evaluation, relationship skills, and spiritual and character formation. By using supervised ministry as a pedagogical tool in theological training, pastors in training are not only exposed to the practicals and complexities of pastoral ministry, it also allows them to develop a deeper understanding of their vocational ethics, enhance their commitment to serving their congregants within the contextual setting and with empathy and integrity. Supervised ministry should be seen as an extension of classwork in theological training of Baptist student pastors in Nigeria, and therefore should be awarded a course code and with reasonable course units every semester to emphasize its importance in ministerial training of pastors.
Preach and Heal: Mission Mandates for the Twelve in Luke 9:1-6, and the Twenty-First Century Mission Strategies of Selected Mission Agencies in Nigeria
Jesus was strategic in his earthly ministry by going to places to preach andheal. He went about proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and makingthe sick, afflicted, and oppressed whole again in their body, soul, and spirit. For continuity and the growth of the church, Jesus raised his disciples andgave them the mandates and strategies to go, preach and heal. This studyexplores the missionary mandates and strategies given to the Twelve in Luke9:1-6 and their relevance to contemporary mission strategies in the twenty-first century. The passage in Luke 9 outlines Jesus’ instructions to hisdisciples, emphasizing the dual mandate to "preach the kingdom of God" and"heal the sick." These foundational directives not only shaped the earlyChristian mission but also provide critical insights for modern missionaryendeavors. This researcher selected five prominent mission agencies inNigeria, reviewed their mandates and mission strategies to see theiralignment with Luke 9:1-6. This paper argues that while the missionstrategies in Luke 9:1-6 can be modified, the integration of preaching andhealing remains fundamental for effective mission work, as it addresses boththe spiritual and physical needs of people

Portrayal of Women with Postpartum Depression in Nollywood Movies
In 21st-century literary and cinematic productions, a notable fracture emerges through the voices of women grappling with the delicate balance between life and career. It surfaces through the imperative to confront issues like baby blues, postpartum depression, infanticide, and various conditions jeopardizing the mother-child relationship. Concurrently, representations of mental health issues, particularly postpartum depression in Nollywood films, tend to perpetuate existing myths, prejudices, misconceptions, and anxieties surrounding mental illness. Therefore, this study investigates the portrayal of women with postpartum depression in Nollywood movies. The study is guided by Framing Theory and employs a combination of quantitative and qualitative research designs, utilizing content analysis and key informant interviews. The non-human population sample comprises 10 Nollywood movies released in 2015, depicting women with postpartum depression. Key-informant interviews involve professionals from orthodox and alternative medicine, as well as the movie industry. Purposive and available sampling techniques were utilized, first selecting movies available on the Iroko TV app to ensure comprehensive representation. Subsequently, a Nollywood movie producer/director and experts from orthodox and alternative medicine were purposively sampled. Findings reveal that recent stressful life events are a major contributing factor to postpartum depression among women in Nollywood movies. The majority of afflicted mothers experience challenges in bonding with their infants. Content producers believe that counseling serves as a more effective alternative treatment for postpartum depression compared to science-based treatments. This study recommends engaging the media to promote mental health education, rectifying inaccurate perceptions often depicted by auteurs
How Does Online News Affect Women\u27s Political Participation in Sub-Saharan Africa? À Meta-analysis of Research from 2009- 2023
Despite the presence of various international frameworks and commitments to achieving gender equality, the underrepresentation of women a significant portion of its population- in its political leadership has endured within sub-Saharan Africa. There is already evidence from scholars that show that traditional news media content serves to simultaneously underrepresent women in politics, while also reinforcing stereotypes against them through discourse. However, as channels and processes of mass communication, including through news get increasingly digitalized, there is not much insight into the effects that online news media have in shaping the perceptions of female politicians and their participation in politics on a regional level. This study applies Feminist (Media) Theory. Conducting a meta-analysis of 20 research papers published between 2009 and 2023, this study provides insight into the effects of online news media on the perceptions of female politicians and their participation in politics in the sub-Saharan Africa context. The findings of the study expand the understanding of the relationship between gender, news media and politics in a digitalized world. They also highlights areas for improved regulation and/or legislation of news.
Framing the National Question: The Role of Nigeria\u27s Media and Political Elites
The study focused on the role of the media and political elites in framing the National Question in Nigeria. The research adopted the survey design format predicated on the use of primary sources of data. The population of this study comprised of politicians, their media advisers and government press officers; media gatekeepers, (e.g. political news editors and the columnists); political/media scholars and informed members of the public. The first stage of the sampling technique involved the use of a structured questionnaire to elicit information on the attitude of Nigeria\u27s media and political elite to the National Question. The second stage included selected interviews while the final stage focussed on triangulation and analysis. The findings revealed that Nigerian politics has become increasingly reliant on the media in recent years, thereby making the media an essential and unavoidable tool for communicating and promoting political messages and activities. It also revealed that most of the issues and arguments about the National Question are largely framed and shaped on media platforms which the political elites have found to be veritable marketplaces of ideas and contestations. Findings also demonstrated the importance of the role of media elites in defining the long-term political and democratic culture in Nigeria since they offer their political counterparts the avenue for articulating their notions and understanding of national questions. Another critical result was the nuanced yet unmistakable evidence of a significant divergence of attitudes to the national question among members of the northern elites when compared with their southern counterparts. The study, therefore, recommends that further scholarly efforts should be invested in continuously interrogating the role and impact of the media in shaping the character of politics in Nigeria, so as to monitor and mitigate the potentially deleterious effects of mediatization of politics on the democratic structure and health of the Nigerian society.

Nigeria\u27s public service has traditionally been characterised by bureaucratic processes, paperbased documentation, and limited integration of technology. Hence, the need to embrace digital transformation has become a critical element for public services to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and citizen satisfaction. However, inadequate infrastructure, limited digital skills among public servants, resistance to change, and cybersecurity concerns have become concerns. In view of this, the study examined digital transformation and organisational change in the Lagos State Ministry of Health. The study employed the pragmatism philosophy and quantitative approach in data collection and analysis. A survey research design was used. Seventy-seven (77) out of ninety-eight (98) instruments administered for the study were found usable. The content analytic approach was used in analysing the collected data. Findings revealed that the Ministry of Health\u27s embrace of digital transformation has streamlined organisational processes, reduced bureaucracy, improved data management, enhanced service delivery, and increased citizen engagement. Additionally, it enables the government to leverage data analytics for evidence-based policymaking and resource allocation. Conclusively, the successful implementation of digital transformation necessitates more than just technological advancements. It requires a fundamental shift in organisational culture within the public service, as it has the potential to become more efficient, citizen-centric, and responsive to the evolving needs of Lagosians. The study recommended stakeholder engagement, capacity building, and the development of robust policies to ensure inclusive and accountable digital governance.
