Women and Dynamics of Food Security in Pre-Colonial Nigeria: A Historical Perspectives

different communities, kingdoms and empires to impact society. It is against
this backdrop that this paper attempts to unravel the inestimable contributions
of women to food security of their respective families and societies and to this
end Marxist/Socialist and Postmodernist theories were adopted. The paper
submits that women played active, beneficial, and positively influential roles
throughout Nigeria’s history in pre-colonial era, thus, this should motivate
present Nigerian to increase their engagements, productivity, and effectiveness
in the crucial mission of nation-building. Adopting primary and secondary
sources of data, the study employed historical method of analysis. The paper
recommends for lessons to be drawn from pre-colonial Nigerian women’s
efforts in ensuring food security for their society, particularly for the sake of
positive gender relations as well as gender equality
Government and Social Services Delivery, A Study of Enugu State Ministry of Health Response to World Health Organization Rules on Covid 19 Pandemic, 2020-2022
This study interrogated Government and Social Service Delivery; A Study of Enugu state Ministry of Health
Response to WHO rules on COVID 19 Pandemic,2020-2021: It examined how efficient was the Ministry of health in its response
to WHO rules on COVID 19 Pandemic in Enugu. This study anchored on structural functionalism by Gabriel Almond and it
presented the hypothesis: Enugu State Ministry of Health was more efficient in its response to WHO rules on COVID-19 pandemic
between 2020-2021. Documentary and Survey methods of data collection were adopted together with content analysis of data from
questionnaires. This study discovered that despite the challenges confronting the implementation of the District Health System in
Enugu State Ministry of Health, that the Enugu State government manifested all the indicators of efficient healthcare delivery to its
citizens via constructions of new structures, free gifts of nose masks, sanitizers and transformation of the state-owned health facilities
especially during the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic. This Study therefore recommends that Since the government has
constructed, re-habilitate and renovated many hospitals, Cottage, and isolation centers for COVID-19 patients within the state, he
should also deem it necessary to adopt maintenance culture, employ qualified/trained health personnel, equip all these healthcare
Centers and hospitals with modern medical instruments and subsidize the price of drugs/ bills
Eradicating Extreme Poverty Amidst Covid-19 Pandemic: A Focus on Sub-Saharan Africa
Destitution is regarded universally as a
serious issue that afflicts a significant
percentage of the universe. It presents
itself in diverse patterns like insufficiency
of earnings and high-yielding resources
as would guarantee maintainable means,
persistent starvation and
malnourishment, homelessness,
absence of durable goods, disease,
absence of clean water, deficiency of
education, low life expectancy, etc
(Ayoo,2022; Word Bank Development
Report Report, 1990,2001; Sneyd,2015).
Eliminating extreme poverty has been
identified as an imperative as it

A post-COVID-19 IDEA to strengthen research, innovation, and development in Africa
Globally, research, innovation, and the associated education and entrepreneurship are essential for youth and
socioeconomic development. Governments, universities, research institutions, and private sector play various
roles in the innovation value chain. The weak research and innovation systems in Africa are often linked to the
overarching challenges of poor financing, inadequate capacity, weak infrastructure, and processes. Many African
universities and research institutions are challenged to validate and transition their ideas and discoveries from the
laboratory to field evaluation, and downstream development, registration, and commercialization processes. The
critical discovery–development interface that is normally driven by the private sector is also not well developed.
Overcoming these constraints require concerted local and global partnerships, sharing of available resources
and assets, and training and use of suitable Information and Communications Technology and digital tools to
boost productivity. Importantly, this requires private sector engagement and development. We discuss how the
Innovation Development and Entrepreneurship Africa aims to use available assets in Africa to support institutions
and youths to stimulate innovation. Redoubling efforts toward African development in the post COVID-19 era, in
alignment with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals, will require investment
in support of these ideals. We offer some policy recommendations in this context

thousand five hundred and forty-two (1542), staff was used. The sample size of
308, using Freund and William's statistic formula at 5 percent margin of error.
The data were analyzed and presented in frequency and percentage tables.
Regression statistical tools was used to test the hypotheses with the aid of SPSS
Version 26. The results of the study revealed that green purchasing does have
significant effect on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Enugu state (f =
82.123, t = 19.062, p = .000 < 0.05) and that green packaging does have
significant effect on the revenue of manufacturing firms in Enugu state (f =

integration of environmentally sustainable procurement practices, firms are able
to streamline resource usage, reduce operational costs, and bolster efficiency. The
impact of green packaging on the revenue of manufacturing firms highlights that

Government Expenditures, Foreign Aid and Remittances: A Review of Income Inequality in Nigeria
Income inequality unequivocally is one of the foremost development challenges
facing developing economies. The contradictions bedevilling the reality where
rising government expenditures in Nigeria failed to reflect in narrowing income
inequality over time prompted this study. This study specified foreign aid and
remittances as other sources of expenditures along with government
expenditures and employed bounds testing autoregressive distributed lag
approach of cointegration to assess the impact they have on income inequality.
Findings revealed that, in the long run, capital expenditure has a negative but
insignificant effect on income inequality, whereas recurrent expenditure has a
positive and significant impact on income inequality, implying that government
expenditures in Nigeria have not been directed towards addressing inequality.
Foreign aid, in the long run, exhibits a significant negative impact on income
inequality. However, remittances did not conform to a priori expectations as it
increases income inequality. Recommendations suggest that sustained efforts
are required towards overcoming the existing impediments holding back
policies and programmes on narrowing inequality gaps

An Examination Of Age And Years Of Study As A Factor Influencing Attitude Of Nigerian Students Towards Death Anxiety
This study investigated age and years of study as a factors influencing attitude of Nigeria students towards
death anxiety. A total of 160 participants comprising 100 young students (56 fresh and 44 stale), and 60 adult
students (34 fresh and 26 stale) were recruited from the population of undergraduate student of Faculty of
Social Sciences Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka-Nigeria. They are between the ages of 17-32 years, with
a mean age of 20.8, and standard deviation of 2.3 years. They were drawn from different faculties of social
sciences, The Death anxiety Scale (DAS) developed by Templar (1970) and validated in Nigeria by
Adebakin (1990), Erinoso (1996) and Uzosike (1998). It is 15-item inventory designed to measure the
concerns, fears, apprehensions and forebodings people often have about dying. It was a survey design and
two-way ANOVA was employed for data analysis. Two research hypotheses were postulated: that age will
significantly influence the attitude of Nigeria students towards death anxiety and that years of study will
significantly influence the attitude of Nigeria students towards death anxiety. The findings indicated that
years of study and age as a factors yielded no statistically significant effect on the attitude of Nigeria students
towards death anxiety. The implication of this study show that age and years of study as factor yielded no
significant effect on attitude of Nigeria students towards death anxiety is that young students and fresh
students will express the same pattern of death anxiety like stale students will express the same pattern of
death anxiety like adult students. It implies that both young and older, fresh students and stale students
requires psycho-education on death and anxiety management training in order to cope with death and its
attendant anxiety to enhance their well being and academic performance. It is evident that, death anxiety is a
common social problem witnessed in similar way among university students. This requires attention of
university authorities and mental health professionals to enhance and promote the well-being of the student
and their academic performance
