    Get PDF
This paper discusses the production and distribution of music as a catalyst for socio-economic changes affecting the environmental sustainability in Nigeria. The various stages in the development of Nigerian music ecosystem, particularly as it concerns the ecological role of producer-agents (human and mechanised agents such as the use of AI in music creation), managers, singers, distribution agencies (record labels, musicians and producers, and various streaming platforms) and the copyright palaver are also significant subjects of examination here. The investigation tries to understand not only the historical path of the development of the music industry in Nigeria but also the different change phenomenon occurring today in the world with regard to the digitalization technology in music creation and dissemination and how these changes affect the environment negatively or positively. Issues raised in the paper include, how the Nigerian music industry can square up with the current world’s trend of creating a sustainable environment for human development. What are the challenges music production and marketing in Nigeria face and what are the prospects for a sustainable environment

Developmental psychologists prioritize personal growth as one of the issues that demand the attention of scholars. This study investigated family social support and emotional regulation as predictors of personal growth among serving Corps members in Owerri Metropolis. Using a random sampling technique two local government areas were selected out of nine Local Government Areas in Imo East Senatorial District. Four hundred and fourteen (414) respondents participated in the study. Regression result showed that only ethnic group was a significant predictor of personal growth among serving corps members in Owerri metropolis (β = -.27, t = -2.29, p< .05); while gender was not a significant predictor of personal growth among serving corps members (β = -.03, t = -.29); age was not a significant predictor of personal growth among serving corps members (β = .02, t = .14); marital status was not a significant predictor of personal growth among serving corps members (β = -.18, t = -1.44); religion was not a significant predictor of personal growth among serving corps members (β = -.12, t = -.91). The paper found that social support significantly predicted personal growth. Based on the study’s findings, corps members need sufficient family support and excellent emotion regulation skills as these would enhance their well-being and ability to achieve Nigeria's National Youth Service Corps' aims and objectives

Food poisoning can be caused by a wide range of substances including but not limited to the presence of pathogenic microorganisms in food e.g. salads. However, there is no report on the occurrence of pathogenic microorganisms in the salads sold in a private University campus and as such the research was performed in order to determine the food safety levels as well as probable sources of contaminants of the salads in the university. The purpose of this research, was to determine the frequency of occurrence of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Staphylococcus aureus in salads sold in the cafeteria on the campus. A total number of 13 samples of salad were obtained and screened for the possible presence of pathogenic bacteria. Identified bacteria isolates were then tested for virulence traits such as antibiotic resistance, motility, biofilm and possession of blaTEM and blaCTX-M genes. All the sought for organisms were found in all collected samples. The total heterotrophic count ranged from 0.74 ± 1.3 ×103 cfu/g to 28.2 ± 1.75 × 103 cfu/g. The frequency of occurrence of these microorganisms in the salads from the cafeteria stalls ranged from 0(0%) to 5(41%). S. aureus and E. coli had the highest occurrence at 34%. The result of the antibiotic susceptibility test showed complete resistance of all isolates to amoxicillin clavulanate and cefotaxime and complete sensitivity to gentamycin and ofloxacin. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and S. aureus isolates showed multi-drug resistance. Multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index ranged from 0.16 to 0.83. Out of all the isolates, only one E. coli of all the E. coli isolates showed the ability to produce biofilm. Amplification of the ESBL genes (blaTEM and blaCTX-M genes) in S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa isolates showed that they possess the gene which encodes for their resistance to cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, penicillin and cephalosporins. The presence of these organisms in ready to eat salads is a cause for concern as these organisms have been associated with serious foodborne infections

This study was designed to assess the multiple-choice and multiple true-false test items on Upper Basic (UB) students in Christian Religious Studies (CRS) in Delta State. The study compared two teacher-made multiple choice and multiple true-false CRS test items. The purpose was to determine which testing mode would result to greater achievement in CRS. Two research questions and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The population of the study comprised 2,207 Upper Basic students in Oshimili South LGA of Delta State. A sample of 200 UB2 students drawn from four of the public secondary schools in Oshimili South LGA formed the subjects of the study. The sample was obtained through simple random sampling technique. The students were randomly assigned to multiple-choice group and multiple true-false group. A comparative research design was used. 25 CRS Multiple-Choice (CRSMC) and 25 CRS multiple true-false (CRSMTF) items were developed, validated and used by the researcher in the study. A trial test was carried out in two of the schools within the Aniocha South LGA, to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Kuder-Richardson 20 (K-R 20) was used to establish the reliability of the CRSMC and CRSMTF test items. The reliability coefficients were 0.85 and 0.72 respectively. The data generated from the study were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. Hypotheses were tested using ANOVA and Independent Samples T-test. The result of the study showed that students who were examined with multiple-choice achieved higher than students who were examined with multiple true-false items. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended that multiple choice items with the application of the six levels of the cognitive domain (Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating and creating) is more adequate to test students at the Upper Basic level
