Educational Management: A Key to Innovative Pedagogical Processes in the Post Covid-19 Pandemic World in Universities in Enugu State, Nigeria
Get PDFThis study investigated the extent to which educational management and leadership, function as a
key, to innovative pedagogical methods in the wake of the COVID 19 pandemic in universities in
Enugu State, Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study. Relevant literature were reviewed.
The study was theoretically hinged on the transformational leadership theory. In particular, the
study was conducted at Godfrey Okoye University in Enugu, which is a private institution in the
South Eastern part of Nigeria. For the study, a descriptive survey design was used with a population
of 25 employees from the university's faculty of education and 10 employees from the quality
assurance unit. Questionnaires were employed as tools for gathering data. The data was examined
using the mean and standard deviation. The result of the study among others was that the education
managers provided an enabling environment for teachers to use e-learning and innovative
pedagogical processes in teaching and learning in the post COVID 19 pandemic world. One of the
recommendations of this study is that lecturers and educational managers should attend in-service
training regularly. It was also recommended that classrooms should be adequately equipped with
ICT facilities for effective teaching and learning
Enhancing Educational Assessment in Smart Green Classrooms for the 4th Industrial Revolution

Threshold-based asymmetric reactions of trade balances to currency devaluation: fresh insights from smooth transition regression (STR) model
Get PDFThis study sought to ascertain relatively the asymmetric reactions of
trade balances to currency devaluation and non-devaluation
regimes in sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries between 1981 and
2021 using the smooth transition regression (STR) model. The outcome
indicates that, in Ghana, Malawi, and Mozambique, currency
devaluation as a change in policy has a major influence on the trade
balance; however, in Nigeria, Kenya, and Tanzania, this impact is
negligible. Nigeria had the highest gamma coefficient but insignificant,
suggesting that policy change has not significantly impacted
the country’s trade balance despite the high transition rate.
Findings from the devaluation regime revealed that, with the
exception of Ghana, all other nations’ real exchange rates are
inversely and significantly related to the trade balance.
Additionally, it displayed an average threshold parameter of
0.147, indicating that a devaluation of more than 14.7% within
a year will deteriorate the trade balance in SSA. The results indicate
that the devaluation effects hinge on the structure, macroprudential
policies, and infrastructural growth of the nation. The study
recommended amongst other things, (i) a robust structural transformation
in key sectors (ii) judicious investment in infrastructural
development to address the key bottleneck in the quality and
quantity of domestic production

No full textThe Covid-19 pandemic awakened the need for virtual classroom in Godfrey Okoye University Enugu, Nigeria.
Students continued their lectures uninterrupted despite the shutdown of schools as a result of the outbreak of the pandemic.
The creation of an effective learning management system by the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) unit
of the University made it easier for students to study from their homes and interact freely with their lecturers online. Lecture
attendance was mandatory and roll calls taken. After the compulsory shutdown of schools, the university immediately
adopted a blended learning system – physical and virtual. This study establishes how collaborative pedagogical approach
enabled the lecturers to sustain students’ active participation in a virtual classroom. The course for the study was EDU 421:
Curriculum and Instruction II. Three lecturers handled the course. The lecturers had an intact class of 50 final year Education
students in a natural virtual classroom setting. The lecturers taught the students 8 major topics within 14 weeks. Class
attendance, assignments, and mid-semester examination were taken seriously, and they made up the continuous assessment
of 30%. In the end, there was end of the semester examination of 70%. The summary of the result show that out of the 50
students, 7 got As, 31 got Bs, 6 got Cs, 3 got Ds and 3 got Fs. This study concludes that students’ active participation in
class earned them positive learning outcomes. Therefore, the need to engage students fully in a virtual class cannot be
overstressed. This is because sustaining students’ interest enhances their academic performance in a virtual classroom
Entrepreneurial innovation in accounting profession: the African experience
No full textThere is a universal belief that enterprising education ought to be directed towards practical teaching and re-training of students. The essence of such education is to expand the entrepreneurial know-how of students
towards originality and innovativeness. For professional accounting students, entrepreneurial education ought
to create in them such proficiencies that would enable them to evolve feasible business plans upon graduation
and qualification. This becomes more apposite in African nations as employment prospects among qualified
accountants are becoming progressively competitive. Also, the job openings have remained limited while
recruitment opportunities in the private sector decrease day- by-day. Added to this worrisome situation are the
drift of job subcontracting in accounting and consultancy firms, the employment of casual labor and the
phenomenon of rightsizing of labor among big firms and multinational companies in African countries. It is
against this backdrop that this research intends to investigate the degree to which entrepreneurial
innovativeness has been infused into the accounting occupation in African countries, particularly the Sub-Saharan Africa(SSA).The study embraced the historical research approach. It concluded that the entrepreneurial
adaptation that is lacking presently should become the epicenter of the progress of accounting profession in
Africa
Achieving Sustainable Cities: The Role of Government in Providing Green Public Spaces in Nigeria
No full text: This paper is titled achieving sustainable cities: the role of government in providing green public spaces in Nigeria. The aim is to ascertain Nigeria’s efforts toward adapting to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 7. The specific objectives are to; determine what makes a city sustainable and to examine the policies of Nigeria Government directed to achieving sustainable cities in Nigeria. The paper is anchored on Sustainable Regeneration approach. It is a qualitative research which relies mainly on content analysis of secondary data. Findings from the study reveal that going green can help make Nigerian cities become places where people want to live and work, and where the environment is respected. It is therefore concluded that a city that fails to meet the core expectations of governance by maintaining order, making and carrying out collective decisions, and providing basic services will not be able to sustain the ecological, social, and economic aspects of the concept of sustainability. The paper recommends among others that there is need for government to make policies that help to make it easy to get around without a car by creating paths, bike bridges and sidewalks, and encouraging citizens to walk, ride, or commute via metro trains or buses so as to;decrease congestion, reduce harmful emissions, enhance air quality,and improved health and wellness. Also there is need to improve water conservation and waste management through sustainable urban planning. Government can also adopt programs to minimize waste by recycling and composting. Similarly, it is high time government began to implement green architecture as an innovative ways to reduce resource use and lower greenhouse gas emissions
Perceived Challenges of Effective Implementation of Secondary School Education Curriculum in Post Covid-19 Pandemic Nigeria
Get PDFThe COVID-19 pandemic like a dream took Nigeria and the rest of the world by surprise and gave rise to the shutting down of educational and other socio-economic activities worldwide. The students were asked to return to their homes to avoid staying and working in groups. The traditional
talk/chalk approaches were no longer helpful and solution, to the problem on ground due to social distancing measures adopted at the time. Using ICT (information and communication technology) in education has now made for a paradigm shift in curriculum implementation process. The
implementers of curriculum can now employ different platforms like WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype
Virtual Classrooms, and Facebook etc. to deliver lectures to students in their comfort zones. The
challenges of innovative pedagogical approaches in curriculum implementation like limited
funding of schools, inadequate supply of school facilities, poor motivation of teachers, noncompliance of majority of students and teachers among others. This paper presented the
conceptual meaning of the key variables, secondary school Education, Effective Curriculum
Implementation Sustainable Development. The challenges of Innovative Pedagogical approaches

Innovative Pedagogical Approach on Students’ Achievement and Retention in the Post Covid-19 Pandemic World in Senior Secondary School Mathematics in Enugu State, Nigeria
Get PDFThis study investigated creative pedagogical technique for senior secondary school student academic retention and success in Mathematics in the post Covid-19 pandemic world in Enugu State. The study used a quasi-experimental research design with non-equivalent controls, pre-tests, and post-tests. . The population of 34 312 (SS2) students used in the research. Using a simple random sampling approach, 395 students (230 males& 165 females) for the study. A geometry achievement exam and a geometry retention test were the study's testing methods. The data were evaluated with standard deviation and mean usage in order to respond to the study's queries and assess the hypotheses. When teaching mathematics, especially geometry, utilizing computer assisted education, there is a considerable difference in both the students' achievement and their capacity to retain information. The researchers recommended that math instructors employ the CAI method, which was found to be more effective and gender-neutral, among other things, when instructing students in arithmetic in schools
