The focus of this study is to investigate the extent of safety measures, in secondary school science laboratories in Abakaliki Education Zone of Ebonyi State. Two research questions and one hypothesis guided the study. The study employed descriptive survey design. This is to enable the researcher describe the extent of safety measures and make decisions based on empirical evidence. The researcher used a total number of seventy-two (72) public secondary schools, out of 78 public secondary schools in the zone. This is because, six secondary schools out of 78 public secondary schools in the zone do not have science laboratory at the time of this research data collection. The researcher did not sample since, the number of secondary schools in the zone was not high. A four-point scale structured questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to collect data on the safety measures. The instrument is made up of fourteen (40) items. Mean and standard deviation were used in answering the research questions while, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that the extent of safety measures in secondary school science laboratories in Abakaliki Education Zone of Ebonyi State was high. Based on the findings of the study, the researcher therefore, recommended that Government of Ebonyi State and school authorities should keep up the present level of laboratory safety measures in secondary school science laboratories in the state by collaborating with curriculum developers to review the existing curriculum and integrate the basic tenets of laboratory safety measures in the curriculum

MARIST EDUCATION STYLES IN THE LIGHT OF PATRISTIC EDUCATION: A CURRICULUM RESPONSE TO LEARNER CHARACTER FORMATION

Historical Overview of Marist Education Styles Marist education is a Christocentric and anthropological reality that informs, forms, and transforms the educand in the way of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ (Osuji & Oluoch-Suleh, 2017). The Marist educational tradition, founded by Saint Marcellin Champagnat in the early 19th Century, emphasizes a holistic approach to education (Marist Brothers, 2020). Marist schools have always prioritized the formation of the whole person, combining academic excellence with the cultivation of moral and spiritual values. Central to Marist education is the belief in the dignity of each student and the importance of nurturing a family spirit within the school community (Mendez, 2024). Drawing from the International Marist Education Commission (2023), the core principles of Marist Education, or what we refer to as Marist education styles include the following: Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, and in the Way of Mary. Marist educators are encouraged to be actively present in the lives of their students, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. The Marist approach values simplicity in teaching and learning, promoting honesty, humility, and authenticity. In family spirit, creating a sense of community and belonging is fundamental, with a focus on mutual respect and solidarity. Hard work and dedication are seen as essential to personal and academic growth. Then, emulating the virtues of Mary, the mother of Jesus, Marist education promotes compassion, care, and faith

MANAGEMENT OF SLOGANS AS STRATEGIC TOOLS FOR ENHANCING SCHOOL POPULARITY AND GROWTH THROUGH EFFECTIVE MESSAGING

In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, school administrators are increasingly embracing roles that extend beyond traditional leadership and curriculum planning. A major shift is occurring in how schools position themselves within a competitive market, with branding and strategic communication playing pivotal roles. One emerging trend in this dynamic is the integration of culturally resonant phrases and viral slogans into educational marketing strategies. The recent adoption of the term “Achalugo”—popularized through Omoni Oboli’s film Love in Every Word—serves as a compelling example. Initially gaining attention for its aesthetic and cultural significance, “Achalugo” quickly transcended entertainment to become a widely embraced symbol of beauty, prestige, and excellence. Educational institutions have capitalized on this cultural moment by incorporating the term into their branding campaigns, often featuring slogans like “Achalugo: Enroll Your Child Today” and “Raise an Achalugo at Our School.” This phenomenon highlights a significant shift in educational public relations practices, where branding is no longer limited to logos and mottos but is now responsive to real time cultural trends. The integration of such terms reflects a deeper strategic move to resonate with parents and students on an emotional and cultural level, ultimately reinforcing the institution’s image and values. This paper explores the implications of this branding evolution, examining how cultural relevance, viral marketing, and identity play vital roles in shaping modern educational management

This chapter will explore the key stages involved in creating an effective curriculum

IS FEMINISM AN INTELLECTUAL WASTE? A PHILOSOPHICAL DISCOURSE

The idea of feminism was centered on the concern for gender equality and the promotion of equal rights for men and woman; the expression of these concerns through theory or action, and the valuing of individuals for their contributions to society rather than their biological or sexual characteristics or roles. Women have played a lot of role in the development of the present society. In the society today yet unfortunately, women are seen as second-class citizens, hence leading to injustice. Using the analytic method of research, this paper makes an advocacy for the equality of men and women. In other words, granting equal right to both sexes enhances justice and development in the state. This paper concludes that, feminist’s argument is never an intellectual waste; hence women are important in the society and should be allowed equal opportunities in all capacities

The study investigated the relationship between health-seeking behaviour, marital stress, coping strategies and psychological well-being among secondary school teachers, one hundred and twenty (120) teachers were drawn using purposive sampling techniques as participants from five schools in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State. Marital stress inventory (MSI) by Omoluabi (1994), the Psychological well-being instrument by Ryff [1995], the brief-cope scale developed by Carver et al., (1989) and the Health Seeking Behaviour questionnaire (H-SBQ) by Franklin (2003) were used for data collections, a correlational research design was adopted and Pearson moment correlation coefficients were used for data analysis with the aid of SPSS, finding revealed that health-seeking behaviour r= .229* significantly correlated with marital stress, emotional focus r= .308** significantly correlated with marital stress and problem focus dimension of coping strategies r= .301 significantly correlated with psychological wellbeing. Hence school teachers are encouraged to adopt more problem-focused coping strategies in solving their problem because this method will bring about positive psychological wellbeing

PUBLIC FINANCE INSTRUMENTS AND POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN NIGERIA

In low-income countries like Nigeria, governments use the instruments of public finance to carry out their crucial function of promoting the well-being of their residents which includes poverty alleviation. However, they often find deciding on how to achieve that objective difficult owing to some challenges. This study investigates the impact of public finance instruments on poverty reduction in Nigeria using ex post facto as the research plan strategy. Specifically, it examines the impacts of public revenue, public expenditure and public debt on poverty incidence in Nigeria for 1981 to2024. Unemployment, inflation and GDP growth rates are introduced in the study as control variables. Descriptive, correlation matrix and hierarchical regression are employed to analyze data. The findings indicate that while the impact of public revenue and public debt on the rate of poverty are positive and weak, the impact of public expenditure on poverty rate is both adverse and non-significant. Also, the findings show that the variables all move together toward the same direction during the study period. The implication is that there are strong interrelationships among the variables and that any alteration in one may have ripple effects across the others. Consequently, governments are advised to fine-tune their public finance instruments to invigorate the economy, reduce income imbalance and reduce poverty level significantly
