This study investigated the role of AI-powered translation apps in cross-linguistic communication among senior secondary school students in Enugu State, Nigeria. Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the study adopted a descriptive survey design with a sample of 250 students drawn from Godfrey Okoye University Secondary School, College of Immaculate Conception, and St. Patrick Secondary School, Emene. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed with mean and standard deviation, using 2.5 as the decision benchmark. Findings revealed that students moderately use AI-powered translation apps, particularly for group assignments and peer communication across diverse linguistic backgrounds. Results further showed that the apps enhance academic collaboration, inclusivity, and peer interaction, though challenges such as cultural inaccuracy, overreliance, and poor internet access persist. Empirical evidence from related studies affirmed that AI translation tools foster communication but require balanced use alongside language learning. The study concludes that AI-powered translation apps have significant potential in promoting inclusivity and effective communication in multilingual classrooms. Educational implications include training students on responsible use, while recommendations were made for policymakers, administrators, teachers, parents, and developers to strengthen the integration of translation technologies in schools

exus of Tradition and Transition: Hybrid Governance and Succession in Igbo Family-Owned Businesses

In Southeast Nigeria, where family-owned businesses (FOBs) serve as pillars of local economies, succession often unfolds not as a managerial handover but as a culturally charged negotiation between legacy and leadership. This study interrogates why many Igbo FOBs struggle to transition beyond the first generation, identifying how kinship norms, patriarchal authority, and institutional voids inhibit formal governance. Drawing on Institutional Theory and Stewardship Theory, and using a qualitative-dominant, mixed-method case study of 25 firms across commerce, manufacturing, and agriculture, the research reveals three central challenges: symbolic resistance from “retired” founders, primogeniture-driven leadership selection, and fragmented ownership structures. In response, the study introduces the Family Governance Charter—a hybrid model that integrates Igbo kinship protocols with modern governance tools, including digital oversight, dual council-board structures, and staged succession. Findings show that firms adopting such hybrid mechanisms demonstrate higher intergenerational continuity. By conceptualizing succession as institutional labour rather than a discrete managerial event, the paper advances African business theory and proposes a framework of institutional bilingualism—where cultural legitimacy and formal accountability co-exist. Policy recommendations include two-tiered regulatory frameworks and family business academies tailored to African governance realities

This study examined the availability and utilization of educational resources in implementing the Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum in public early childhood centers in Enugu Education Zone. A descriptive survey research design was employed, with a sample of 1,604 respondents, including 143 headteachers and 1,461 teachers, selected through stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and a checklist, ensuring validity through expert reviews and reliability via a Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.76. Findings revealed that while some resources, such as classrooms and textbooks, were moderately available, critical learning materials like art supplies, educational games, and visual aids were insufficient. Additionally, teachers’ utilization of available resources was found to be low. Hypothesis testing using independent sample t-tests showed no significant difference between male and female teachers' responses on resource availability and utilization. The study concludes that inadequate educational resources hinder the effective implementation of the ECE curriculum. It recommends increased funding, improved resource allocation, and teacher training to enhance curriculum delivery. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in optimizing early childhood education in Nigeria

INDUSTRIALIZATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH IN NIGERIA

The process of industrialization quickens the rate of structural change and economic diversification, which in turn allows a country to make better use of its natural resources and rely less on imports of finished goods and raw materials. The study design is largely descriptive and analytical with anecdotal evidence gleaned from a qualitative and relevant literature on technology, society and industrialization. Economic progress cannot be achieved without industrialization. It encourages growth in other areas of the economy. The frequency of fluctuations causes harm to machines and other equipment. Consequently, most companies depend on generators to provide their own energy, which drives up production costs and makes them less competitive when compared to rivals throughout the world. Improving the industrial sub-sectors can't start till the policies are correct. To transform these policies from being just theoretical to being applicable and feasible, an active industrial framework supported by strong political will is required. Supporting domestic producers by purchasing goods manufactured in Nigeria is one way to foster an environment that is conducive to economic growth and job creation
