The text highlights the need to integrate ethics into medical education to train professionals who are not only technically competent, but also morally responsible. It uses the figure of Ulysses in the Odyssey to illustrate the importance of resilience and introspection in times of adversity. It emphasizes that, although scientific and technical advances are crucial, they must be accompanied by solid ethical training to face the challenges of the current health environment. Medical ethics is not only based on theoretical principles, but also on the practice of virtues such as prudence and respect. In addition, the article underlines the importance of a curriculum that includes both formal training and the influence of the ‘hidden curriculum’, i.e. implicit learnings acquired through experience and interaction with mentors and colleagues.

The concept of “Mother Earth” has evolved from its mythical and cultural roots to become a contemporary symbol of the ecological crisis and planetary interdependence. Through an analysis of its archaeological and religious origins, the article examines how various traditions, including Christianity, have reinterpreted the maternal figure of the Earth. Its foundations in the Bible are explored, where the land that groans and cries out in the Hebrew prophets and St. Paul reveals a deep interconnection between humanity and creation. Finally, Pope Francis’ social thought, especially in Laudato si’, re-signifies this ecological responsibility and creaturely fraternity metaphor. Thus, the notion of “Mother Earth” reflects an ethical and prophetic call to care for the planet and is articulated with the science of the Earth system and planetary boundaries as a framework for environmental justice.

During adolescence, students experiencing emotional difficulties often face challenges with concentration, which can adversely affect their daily functioning. This is because our emotional state significantly influences our ability to focus. To effectively support attention and learning, it is essential to foster environments and relationships, both at home and in educational settings, that promote the emotional well-being of young individuals.
In Spain, and in Europe in general, research on racism and racialisation has mostly focused on foreign-born immigrants. Much less attention has been given to national ethnic minorities, in particular to Gitanos (Spanish Roma), the longest-established and largest ethnic minority group in the country, and also one of the most discriminated-against minority groups throughout Spanish history. This article presents research that has applied the study of mixedness (i.e., mixed couples and their descendants), a sociocultural phenomenon that is thought to “dilute” differences and destabilise social boundaries, to investigate the persistence of the social stigmatisation and racialisation of Spanish Roma. Drawing on extensive ethnographic fieldwork and 81 in-depth interviews with Roma/non-Roma couples, their descendants, and community representatives, this study, shows that even intermarried Gitanos and Spanish-born descendants of Gitano/non-Gitano mixed couples are stigmatised as being outsiders and experience everyday racism, as well as intragroup prejudices, all of which affect their identity choices, social interactions, and everyday lives. The study also concludes that individuals have different strategies for coping with racism and discrimination and that Gitano identity (romanipen) remains dynamic and resilient—strengthened, not weakened—through mixing, a finding that challenges essentialist understandings of ethnic identities and ethnic minority groups.
