a center for heartfulness Indore
Spirituality is one of the most significant experiences that can be communicated via architecture. These experiences and the places they are expressed in, are essential to human survival. Hence, they are encountered in multiple beliefs and customs, more or less similarly. Architecture offers a place of worship where worshipers can flee daily life’s stress, pain, and commotion while transforming it into calm, harmony, strength, and happiness. In this research, I plan to study spiritual spaces in a center, their need and practice of creating such a space. This will also include an understanding of the influence of the space around us when practicing heartfulness by conducting in-depth research on the matter using various parameters. Through this research, I will be able to determine how and where we can create impactful centers . Several studies have supported the role of spiritual practices to improve mental and physical health. The present study focused on the effect of Heartfulness (also known as Sahaj Marg) spiritual practice comprising meditation and related processes (like Cleaning and Prayer) on health indicators
Parameters of assessing public transport accessibility for Indian cities
With the increasing need for sustainable and just cities, urban public transport (PT) is pivotal as it has greater carrying capacity, improved economic and public health indicators, and the environment. But it has been observed that simply providing PT is not enough to encourage people to choose the public mode. Therefore, it is important that the service be equally accessible to all. Accessibility can be measured using various tools, one of which is PTAL (Public Transport Accessibility Levels). The PTAL tool, developed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, is being used as a standard method for assessing existing PT systems across the world. It uses only 4 parameters: Point of Interest, Service Access Points, frequency, and walk network. However, literature suggests that there are a number of factors that influence PT accessibility: time, fare, land use, building density, universal accessibility, availability of infrastructure, level of comfort, safety, cleanliness, etc. A number of researches have been carried out on the application and accuracy of the tool. A similar study was performed for the Melbourne region, which suggested that there is a difference between expected and observed PTAL. This study is envisaged to assess that addition of parameters might minimize this gap between expected and observed PTAL. However, in the Indian scenario, the majority of PT users are captive users. And still, PTAL assessments have been done for a few million plus cities. So, the study aims to identify the parameters influencing accessibility of public transport for comparatively smaller Indian cities. This study has been carried out in Rewa, Satna and Singrauli city in Madhya Pradesh, India, to not only test the accuracy of the tool at a smaller scale but also investigate the significance of additional parameters. However, the study includes only intra- connectivity using both PT and IPT (Intermediate Para Transit). This has been assessed, excluding socioeconomic parameters. For evaluating the same, surveys have been held to evaluate the existing condition of PT and IPT systems along with people’s perception on the same. It has been analysed that there is a difference between people’s preference for choosing PT and IPT. PT is opted due to its’ low fares while IPT for its’ easy boarding/ alighting facility from anywhere along the route. PTAL when developed using conventional method for all the areas showed very poor accessibility for the majority of areas which does not match with the on- ground reality. To improve accuracy, further layers have been added for the revised version of PTAL which include build cover, IPT stands, building density, and land use. As an addition, the revised tool is also capable of identifying priorities along with proving accessibility of the areas. This work can be used in the profession by developing a plugin for Geographic Information System (GIS)

Senior living for retired artists
The Elderly are a vital part of the society who deserve respect and equality like any other section of the society. Concerns related to the elderly have been surfacing over the years, even more so as the ‘young old’ section of society is exponentially increasing due to increased life expectancy. It is integral to focus on the needs of the senior citizen as aging is an inevitable and continuous process. The studies have demonstrated a strong association between the artist's intangible art and their tangible-built environment, which is central to their efficient working and living environment. Artists are not known for retiring at the age of 60, however they undergo the physical and mental transformation like all. This calls for design interventions, to create spaces that assist their livelihood and support the transition into old age with minimum barriers. This Thesis is a design solution to the proposal put forward for retired artists in Goa. It focuses on the holistic development of the user group and the necessity of spaces that keep the ‘motivation to create’ alive in them parallelly achieving healthy aging through architecture

India's remarkable economic growth has resulted in increased purchasing power and mobility among its population, leading to a surge in the automotive market. However, this growth has come at a cost: high carbon emissions and energy consumption, making India the third largest greenhouse gas emitter globally. This has serious implications for the country's vulnerable population in the face of climate change. To address this issue, India needs a sustainable solution that can reduce carbon emissions while ensuring energy security. The increasing energy demand and environmental concerns associated with public transport systems have impelled the exploration of sustainable energy solutions. This study focuses on the implementation of solar energy for the public transport system, specifically electric buses (E-buses), in Hyderabad, Telangana. The background of the research highlights the rapid growth of urbanization and transportation in Hyderabad, leading to a surge in energy consumption and pollution. The need for sustainable alternatives, such as solar energy, is evident. A comprehensive literature review and case studies have been conducted to understand the feasibility and benefits of solar energy in public transport systems (E-buses). Primary and secondary surveys were conducted to assess the energy demand of the Hyderabad State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) E-buses. The findings indicate an exponential increase in energy demand by 2035, resulting in significant environmental challenges and higher energy costs. To address these issues, a proposal for a solar photovoltaic (PV) farm near the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has been put forward. The solar farm is designed to meet the energy demands of 7,500 E-buses projected for 2035. The implementation plan involves the execution of the solar PV farm in three phases. Each phase demonstrates substantial returns and contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions. Furthermore, the project showcases the potential for revenue generation through lower tariff costs. Hyderabad, being a major city in Telangana, presents an ideal context for the integration of solar energy in public transport systems. The city's geographical location provides ample sunlight, which is 5.5 kWh/ sq mt/ day making it conducive for solar power generation. Additionally, vii Hyderabad faces pressing environmental challenges, such as air pollution and requires sustainable solutions to mitigate these issues. This research proposes a viable and economically feasible approach to utilizing solar energy for the public transport system in Hyderabad also findings, supported by data and facts specific to Hyderabad, underscore the potential of solar energy in transforming the public transport system. The proposed solar PV farm near RGI Airport presents a practical and sustainable solution to address the escalating energy demands of the TSRTC E bus fleet while concurrently reducing pollution levels and generating economic benefits. By implementing a solar PV farm, the city can address the increasing energy demand of E-buses while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions and generating revenue through cost-effective operations. The findings of this study contribute to the advancement of sustainable practices in the transportation sector and offer valuable insights for policymakers, urban planners, and energy stakeholders in Hyderabad and beyond. In conclusion, this thesis provides an in-depth analysis of the solar energy potential for the public transport system e-buses in Hyderabad. The proposed solar PV farm epitomizes an effective approach to meet the energy demands of the growing Ebus fleet while encouraging environmental sustainability and financial viability. The research findings acme the significance of solar energy integration in public transport e-buses as a means to foster a greener and more sustainable future for Hyderabad and similar urban areas

Reimaging of banganga settlement Bhopal
The Banganga settlement, located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India, is the focus of a re-imaging project aimed at transforming the area into a sustainable and inclusive community. The site is characterized by diverse topography and natural features, but has suffered from haphazard development, encroachment, and neglect. The rationale behind the project is to address these issues and create a neighborhood that is functional, aesthetically appealing, and preserves its natural environment. The project requirements include the development of a comprehensive plan that takes into account the site's topography, existing infrastructure, and community needs. The plan incorporates a linear housing pattern, green spaces, community gathering areas, and improved connectivity through a walking trail along the nala. Commercial spaces, religious areas, and essential infrastructure such as water storage facilities are also included. Significant features of the project include the creation of a neighborhood that fosters community interaction, provides economic opportunities, and enhances the quality of life for residents. The integration of green spaces and public gathering areas promotes social cohesion and improves the overall livability of the neighborhood. The inclusion of commercial spaces and essential infrastructure meets the needs of the community and contributes to its economic development. The project aims to revitalize the Banganga neighborhood, preserving its natural beauty while creating a sustainable and inclusive community. By addressing the site's challenges through thoughtful design and incorporating essential features, the project strives to improve the quality of life for residents and serve as a model for urban redevelopment in the region. The re-imaging project in the Banganga settlement of Bhopal, India, involves a meticulous site planning process that includes the selection of a specific patch within the neighborhood for housing unit design. Hasnat Nagar has been identified as the focus area, and the design of housing units in this patch is tailored to the specific needs of the residents after a thorough analysis of the area.
