    No full text
This study critically examined the underlying factors driving this migration trend and its socio-economic implications. The study adopted mixed methods research design. Population comprised all youths in Southwestern Nigeria. The multi-stage sampling procedure was adopted. From each of the state simple random sampling was used to select three Local Government Areas (LGAs) each. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 35 participants from each of the LGAs making a total of 315 participants. The participants were purposively selected based on some criteria which are - he/she must have migrated to current location, must be within the age range of 30 and 49 years old; must be willing to participate in the study. In-depth interviews were conducted with key participants (two per LGA). Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Findings showed that youths have positive orientation towards rural-urban migration and are not aware of potentials in rural areas; the Lack of infrastructure development in rural areas, lack of, support system and healthcare were rated as factors predisposing rural urban migration. It is also discovered that there was persistent decline in the population of the host communities, even the available ones comprise of aged men and women, people are running away from farming. Results show various plausible solutions however, recommended that youths need to explore rural wealth with modern technological approach. There is need for critical investments in rural community for multiple wealth creation and development

The poverty experienced by youth is commonly linked to childhood deprivation and parental poverty which have implications across an individual’s life-course including life aspiration. This study therefore investigated the effects of household poverty on life aspiration of youth in Kwara state. Systematic sampling technique was used to select 180 respondents for the study. Data was collected through structured questionnaire and analyzed using frequency counts, percentages mean Chi-square, Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC), and T-test. Results revealed that 50.0% of respondents were male and female, with mean age of 22.2±3.5. and mean household size of 7± 2.6 people, while the primary occupation of most of the respondents’ parents was trading (27.2%). Prayer (x=1.08), ranked first as the coping strategies against poverty. Household poverty was high (51.1.4%) likewise life aspiration (54.4%). Aspiration categories such as personal growth (x=14.07), wealth (x=13.0) community contribution (x= 10.8) were the most important life aspirations of the respondents. Parents’ Primary occupation (/2= 25.415, p=0.000), Age (i=-0.153, p=0.041) and household poverty (r=0.338, p=0.000) had significant relationship with level of aspiration. There was also a significant difference in life aspiration of urban and rural youth (t= 3.218, p=0.003). The study concluded that household poverty had significant effect on life aspiration of youth. Governmental interventions should encourage a mentorship programme that will target young people from poor households

Data was gathered from 150 participants through structured surveys and interviews. Analysis of the data showed a significant association between faith and social work interventions (r2~0.62l; n=IOO; P<01), highlighting the pivotal rote of faith in improving treatment outcomes. Furthermore, the study identified that faith has a substantial impact on social work intervention treatment outcomes (F (99) =3.697; P<01. Recommendations stemming from the study encompass integrating faith into social work practices, raising awareness among social work professionals regarding the efficacy of faith-based approaches, and advocating for further research into the impact of faith on treatment outcomes

The two instruments used were reading comprehension achievement test (r = 0.76) and teacher commitment to teaching questionnaire (r = 0.81). Three research questions were answered using frequency counts, percentage, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The findings revealed that teacher commitment to teaching is low, students achievement in reading comprehension is low, teacher commitment to teaching has no significant relationship with students achievement in English reading comprehension (r=.205). Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers of English Language should be more committed to teaching for effectiveness

Weather forecasting using deep learning and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average model

A number of industries, including mining, agriculture, transportation, and disaster relief, rely heavily on weather forecasting. Time-series trends have been well-captured by conventional forecasting models like SARIMA (Seasonal Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average). Deep learning methods have become effective instruments for identifying complex patterns and raising predicting precision in recent years. This paper suggests a method to improve the accuracy of weather forecasting by utilizing SARIMA models and deep learning. To capture spatial and temporal correlations in meteorological data, the integration of the SARIMA model and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks of deep learning architecture is investigated. The Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) provided 20 years' worth of temperature, humidity, wind, and rainfall data for this study. According to the evaluation results, the LSTM had an RMSE of 41.00 for the features of the training dataset, whereas the proposed SARIMA had RMSEs of 0.59 for rainfall, 23.99 for temperature, 1.23 for wind, and 24.47 for relative humidity. This demonstrates unequivocally that SARIMA outperformed the LSTM model

This work analyzes one of the important roles of the body which is to conserve or memorialize, to keep practices for future references and use. Using the qualitative research method and participant's observation as tools, this paper explains the importance of dance in human society, that is, the social function of dance as a human activity. Although most people see dance as what everyone can do, dance in the real sense goes beyond bodily movements that human beings engage in every day. This research looks at two selected Nigerian dances: Fishermen and Ikede dances as they embody some specific cultural practices without neglecting the fact that culture is not static. The Ikede dance is a traditional dance of the Ebira people of Kogi State which portrays the art of local weaving. Although it is created and performed within Ebira context, it is a practice that is common to some other people in Nigeria like the Tiv, Egons, and Yorubas etc. These two dances form the basis of analysis in this study. The analysis is based on the performance of these dances by the Kogi State Troupe
