Assessment of Attitude, Practice and Barriers to Pharmaceutical Care Among Community Pharmacists in Ibadan
Impact of Anthropogenic Activities on Vegetation Cover and Mammalian Herbivores in Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary, Cross River State, Nigeria
Despite the popular perception of protected areas, forest resources are still subject to many forms of anthropogenic activities such as logging, hunting and burning. This necessitates the study on the impact of anthropogenic activities on vegetation cover and mammalian herbivores in Afi mountain wildlife sanctuary. Four communities around the study area namely; Ebok, kakukob, Esekwe and Olum were selected based on proximity to the sanctuary. Data on socio-economic characteristic and anthropogenic activities of the communities were determined using questionnaire. A total of sixty (60) copies of questionnaire, 15 each were distributed to the four communities. Dynamics in vegetation cover for 1985, 2000 and 2021 was determined using landsat imagery. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index. The result revealed that, males (65.0%) were the dominant respondents. The study respondents were in the age bracket between 41-50 years (51.6%) and majority (51.7%) can at least read and write. The result also indicates a drastic decrease in the forest cover as from 1985-2021, owning to increase in activities such as settlement, logging and farming within the sanctuary. Major threats to the vegetation cover and mammalian herbivores survival were farming, logging and illegal hunting. Conservation of the remaining forest resources should be given top priority
The relationship between adult literacy programme and practical skill of learners
The human capital resources of a country can function only within the limit of their literacy level. Illiteracy has been recognised as a world problem that hamper development projects especially in developing countries of Africa of which Nigeria is a part. The goal of this programme was to ensure that participants acquired literacy and numeracy skills. The nation-wide campaigns did not yield many results, especially in the rural areas because there were fewer adult education centres, coupled with inadequate staff and funds. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between adult literacy programme and practical skills of leaners.
The study adopted descriptive survey design of Ex-post facto type. Simple random sampling will be used to select 20 of the instructors and 100 adult learners out of the total population from the department of adult Education. University of Ibadan. The sample size will therefore be 120. The research instrument for this study will be a structured questionnaire made up of 20 items.
The result revealed that there was significant relationship between adult literacy programmes and adult learners practical skills (r = -0.253, n= 120, P < .05). The Null hypothesis is rejected.
The adult literacy programmes had significant influence or leaners’ practical skill

Energy decay for a viscoelastic wave equation with space-time potential in Rn
In this paper, we consider the following viscoelastic wave equation with space-time dependent potential and where the initial data u0(x), u1(x)have compact support. Under suitable assumptions on the relaxation function g and the potential b, we obtain a more general energy decay result using the perturbed energy method
Corporate rescue as sustainable mechanism for strengthening companies in Nigeria?
Company, upon its incorporation becomes a legal personality or “legal abstraction” with powers to act for it with respect to formation of contract, right to sue and be sued (a juristic personality), right to own properties (real properties and chattels) among others. However, the characteristic that distinguishes companies from other forms of business organization is that aside from the companies being different from its members, it has the capacity for perpetual existence. The exit of its members will not necessarily ‘terminates’ the life of the company, since at best such member reserves the right of transfer his/her shares. This legal attribute of a company has however not been true of many companies that found themselves in the “murky waters” of bankruptcy and may therefore have to go through the winding up process, which usually ultimately “terminates” the life of such companies. However, with the dwindling fortunes of companies in the 21st century, and many having to wind up’ business activities as a result of insolvency, it becomes imperative that attempts be made to rescue the company from ‘dying’ rather than wait to give same ‘decent burial’ by way of liquidation and winding up process. This new concept is referred to as “Corporate Rescue
Exploratory analysis of core soft s for employability in Nigeria’s higher education
In: Adeosun, A. O., Olojede, K., Okudo, A. R., Ezeudegbunam, E. D. (eds.) Education for Multidimentional Skills and Literacies: A Book of Readings, pp. 214-231The study did an exploratory analysis of core transferable soft skills for employability in higher education programmes in Nigeria. Transferable soft skills for employability are of more importance in recent times. This is because the practical world requires both relevant knowledge and skills for human survival and productivity. Lots of rivalries abound due to the growing population of potential degree holders with the absence of consummate competencies in accordance with employment opportunities in the highly competitive labour market. This has caused unemployment on a huge scale and has further amounted to other rippling problems. Higher education is evolving and getting diversified but lacks the required competence of the 21st-century world of jobs which is necessary for employability and wealth creation. Several studies have affirmed that higher education in Nigeria has been fundamentally flawed with a wrong learning model. The need for core and transferable soft skills such as research and study skills, self-, time- and people-management, capacity building for managing interpersonal relationships, leading, and influencing others, Information and Communication Technology, financial literacy, and effective decision-making, is of paramount importance. It is a necessity required in higher education for the world of job survival. However, higher education is more vital than most people think because the more highly educated a country is, the more prosperous it becomes. The paper recommended the need for the curricular experience to accommodate the identified core transferable employability soft skills, as well as their application, in life situations
Therapeutic interventions for the management of social communication disorders among school-aged children
All over the world, social communication and interaction are fundamental aspects of everyday life. From infancy, humans are social beings, gazing at other people and turning towards voices, grasp a finger and even smiles. For social relationship to become possible there is a need to take into consideration the thoughts and feelings of another person. Essentially, it is the understanding that others' thought is different from one's thought that makes social interaction possible. However, some children experience difficulties with successful social communication and this inability or deficit is termed social communication disorder (SCD). This impaired social language use creates communication difficulties, thereby causing significant impact on academic, adaptive and psychosocial functioning. Additionally, children with SCD has been under identified over time due to its co-occurrence with other conditions which leads to wrong diagnosis, inappropriate therapeutic considerations and non-effective communication as well as poor interpersonal relationship. Thus, this paper, focuses on the causes, incidence, assessment, impact and therapeutic interventions of social communication disorder
Human–Bat Relationships in Southwestern Nigerian Communities
Knowledge on the behavioural pattern of fauna species help to maintain good relationship with captive animals. Chimpanzee behavioural pattern differs in many ways with human interactions. The research focused on the effects of tourist participation on Chimpanzee behavior in a captive environment. Fifty copies of Semi-structured questionnaire were administered to the tourist. Chimpanzee activities and interactions with tourists was carried out using standard focal sampling method at 5 minutes interval for 2 days per week for two months. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mantel-Haenszel χ2 and Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel (CMH) M2 test. The study reveals that majority of the respondents were males (60%) and were first timers who came for the purpose of relaxation and research. The probability of return visit by the respondents was low, due to poor rating of the Zoo. Most of chimpanzee time was spent resting, sitting and standing (29.5%, 23.2% and 17.0%), respectively. The locomotive and display behavioural pattern were statistically significant (p-value = 0.042 and 0.042) at contact and non-contact level. However, there was no statistically difference with the relieve behavioural pattern exhibited by the Chimpanzee, which indicates that, the relieved behaviour observed was independent of non-contact and contact between the Chimpanzee
