Investigating the Impact of Exercise Intensity on Cardiovascular Health Parameters in Kenya
Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigating the impact of exercise intensity on cardiovascular health parameters.
Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries.
Findings: This study found that higher-intensity exercise generally leads to greater improvements in cardiovascular fitness compared to moderate-intensity exercise. Studies consistently showed that high-intensity exercise results in more significant reductions in blood pressure, improvements in lipid profiles, and enhanced endothelial function, indicating better cardiovascular health. Furthermore, higher-intensity exercise was associated with greater improvements in maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max), a key indicator of aerobic capacity and cardiovascular fitness.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Health-related physical fitness theory, dual-mode theory of exercise & metabolic equivalent theory may be used to anchor future studies on exercise intensity on cardiovascular health parameters. Based on empirical evidence, healthcare professionals should tailor exercise prescriptions to individual needs, preferences, and health status. Policymakers play a crucial role in promoting equitable access to exercise opportunities and resources, particularly in underserved communities
Analysis of Impact of Cremation on Water Quality of River Ganga at Digha Ghat in Patna, Bihar, India
Purpose: Water related ecosystems face numerous threats, including pollution, climate change and overexploitation. The extent of surface water bodies, such as lakes, rivers and reservoirs, are rapidly changing worldwide. Traditional belief holds that being cremated at the bank of Ganga River and immersing ashes cleans the sins of those who die and carry them directly to salvation. Cremation remains when combine with river water, directly or indirectly impact human health and harms aquatic life. The present study was carried out at cremation ground on the river Ganga at three sampling sites near Digha Ghat in Patna district of Bihar, India. The objective of the study was to investigate water quality and suitability of water of Ganga River for aquatic life, irrigation and drinking.
Methodology: Total twelve physiochemical parameters viz temperature, TDS, pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, total hardness, calcium hardness, magnesium hardness, DO, BOD, alkalinity, acidity, chloride, fluoride, phosphates, sulphates, sodium, potassium, iron were analysed by using standard methods described by APHA and the results were compared with water quality standards prescribed by Bureau of Indian standard (IS:10500).
Findings: The abundance of major ions trends indicating impacts of cremation activities on river water quality. Parameters, DO, BOD and phosphates were not recorded within permissible limit in water samples collected from cremation ground at Digha ghat. Higher values of turbidity at locations near cremation ghat may be attributed to addition of ashes bathing and other anthropogenic activities.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study suggests that deterioration of water quality at cremation ghat of river Ganga needs regular monitoring and conservation measures

Influence of Neglectful Parenting Approaches on Self-esteem of Teenagers Aged 13-19 Years in Selected Day Secondary Schools in Lari Sub County in Kiambu County, Kenya
Purpose: Parents play a critical role in influencing the self-esteem of teenagers. The main aim of the study was to investigate how neglectful parenting approaches influence the self-esteem of teenagers aged 13- 19 years in day secondary schools in Lari Sub County, in Kiambu County, Kenya.
Methodology: The researcher used a concurrent correlational research design. In this approach both qualitative and quantitative data collection strategies were used simultaneously to investigate the relationship between the variables. The target population was 4500 students. The sample size was 1280 participants. Questionnaires and structured interviews guides were used for data collection Stratified and Simple random sampling techniques were used to select the accessible study population. The qualitative data was collected using interview guides and presented thematically in narrative form. At the univariate level, the quantitative data was analyzed using (SPSS) software version 27 and presented in tables. At the bivariate level Pearson\u27s product moment correlation coefficient was used to obtain correlations and significance.
Findings: From the descriptive findings 38.7% of the teenagers from neglectful parents are experiencing unhealthy self-esteem.24.0% of teenagers from authoritative parents have a healthy self-esteem. 37.3% of the teenagers had moderate self-esteem. The results also indicate that out of 1200 respondents (371) 30.9% of respondents had good experiences with their parents. 117(9.8%) had moderate experiences with their parents and 712(59.3%) had antagonistic experiences with their parents. From the inferential findings a statistically significant relationship was also found between neglectful parenting approach and teenage self-esteem, (r =0.740, p =.000). From thematic findings presented in narrative mode from school and peer counsellors, it was evident that neglectful parenting dominates the Lari Sub County region since most of the clients had unfavorable experiences with their parents. Few have lovely experiences with their parents.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The research was guided by the Albert Bandura Social Learning Theory. The theory provides insight that during their initial interaction with their family children observe and learn from the actions and behaviors of caregivers or parents. Therefore, decent actions, words and behaviors from parent\u27s influence positively the self-esteem of teenagers. The teenagers feel good, secure and loved to be part of a warm and loving family which gives them confidence to explore their world and try new things. However, toxic words, actions and behaviors in parental relationships with teenagers influence negatively the self-esteem of many teenagers. The study recommended that policy makers in the state department of early childhood education in Lari Sub County should embrace programs to educate teenagers on healthy ways to adapt to unfriendly experiences with neglectful parents since they cannot change them but they can only build their individual self-esteem. It also recommends that parents to be educated on the need to embrace authoritative parenting strategies to cultivate health self-esteem of teenagers
Perceived Parenting Styles, Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Resolution Styles among Young Adults
Purpose: Parenting styles greatly influence the development of emotional intelligence and conflict resolution styles among young adults since the very early years of their lives. The understanding how parenting styles and emotional intelligence impact conflict resolution styles of young adults has become progressively urgent. The existing study purposes to inspect the relationship between perceived parenting styles, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution styles among young adults. The practical implication of this research will provide the future generations in better upbringing of their children that possess high levels of emotional intelligence.
Methodology: The study was carried out in a single phase. The study was quantitative, and it was conducted to assess the perceived parenting styles by young adults including assessing their emotional intelligence and identifying their conflict resolution style. The sample of the study was 280 (M=140, F=140) recruited from different universities in Islamabad, Pakistan. Three scales were used for assessment: The Perceived Parenting Styles Scale (PPSC), The Schutte Self Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and the Conflict Resolution Styles Inventory (CRSI).
Findings: The authoritative parenting style positively correlated with emotional intelligence (r = .47, p < .01) and positive problem-solving (r = .17, p < .01), while negatively relating to conflict engagement (r = -.31, p < .01) and self-protection (r = -.26, p < .01). In contrast, authoritarian and permissive styles were negatively related to emotional intelligence (r = -.13 and r = -.19, respectively) and positively associated with conflict engagement. Males scored higher on emotional intelligence (M = 121.96, SD = 13.73) than females (M = 118.35, SD = 15.87), and PhD students exhibited higher conflict resolution scores than Master\u27s and undergraduate students. These findings highlight the impact of parenting styles on emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills among young adults.
Unique Contributions to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study is guided by The Social Learning Theory by Bandura (1977) sets that young adults copy ways of behaving gained from their childhood, particularly from their parents. Parenting styles perceived during childhood and adolescence could impact how people approach conflicts and social interactions. Another theory which backs this study is Emotional Intelligence theory by Daniel Goleman suggests that individuals consist of a bunch of skills and abilities that would help them in recognizing, understanding and managing their own self emotions as well as emotions of other people. The study recommends that research be conducted in other demographic regions or on a broader level. The study also recommends that other variables such as personality traits and changes over tine should be considered as well for better outcomes
