Exploring Gender Roles and Stereotypes in Literature: An Analysis of Contemporary Works
Purpose: This study aims to explore the representation of gender roles and stereotypes in contemporary literature. The analysis was conducted using secondary data from a variety of literary works published in the past decade. The study aimed to investigate how gender dynamics are portrayed and whether traditional gender roles and stereotypes are reinforced or challenged.
Methodology: A comprehensive literature review was conducted to select appropriate works for analysis. A total of 30 novels and short stories were selected across different genres, including fiction, drama, and science fiction. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify common themes and patterns related to gender roles and stereotypes.
Findings: The findings of the study revealed a complex depiction of gender roles in contemporary literature. While some works challenged traditional gender norms and portrayed more fluid, non-stereotypical characters, others reinforced traditional gender roles and stereotypes. Additionally, the study found that the portrayal of gender roles varied across genres, with science fiction and fantasy literature often presenting more progressive and diverse gender representations. The study also identified several common stereotypes associated with gender, such as the nurturing and caring nature of women and the dominance and aggressiveness of men. However, it is important to note that these stereotypes were not universally present, and many works depicted characters who deviated from these norms. Overall, this study contributes to our understanding of how gender roles and stereotypes are represented in contemporary literature. It reveals the complexity and diversity of gender dynamics portrayed in literary works, highlighting both the presence of traditional gender roles and stereotypes and the emergence of more fluid and non-stereotypical characters.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The findings suggest that literature has the potential to challenge and redefine gender norms and that the portrayal of gender roles varies across genres. This study provides insights for scholars, educators, and readers interested in understanding and discussing gender representation in literature and encourages further exploration of gender dynamics in contemporary literary works

Role of Media Representation in Shaping Public Perceptions of Crime in Tanzania
Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the role of media representation in shaping public perceptions of crime in Tanzania.
Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries.
Findings: Media representation plays a significant role in shaping public perceptions of crime in Tanzania by influencing how crime is perceived and understood by the general population. Sensationalized reporting and frequent coverage of violent crimes create a heightened sense of fear and insecurity, often leading to a distorted view of the prevalence and nature of crime. This can result in public demand for stricter law enforcement and punitive measures, sometimes disproportionately affecting certain communities.
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Research on the role of media representation in shaping public perceptions of crime in Tanzania highlights several key points. Media coverage often emphasizes sensational or high-profile crimes, which can inflate public fear and skew perceptions of crime rates. Sensationalism and biased reporting contribute to distorted views, reinforcing stereotypes and increasing public anxiety. This media influence also affects policy and law enforcement responses, as crime coverage can shift political priorities and lead to reactive measures. Social media exacerbates these effects by spreading unverified information rapidly, adding to public concern
Role of Gig Economy Participation in Shaping Worker Economic Security in Indonesia
Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the role of gig economy participation in shaping worker economic security in Indonesia.
Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. Sero-prevalence and Associated Factors of Major Respiratory Diseases (Avian Influenza, Newcastle Disease, Infectious Bronchitis, and Mycoplasma Gallisepticum) in Layers Farms in Dakar and Thiès, Senegal
Purpose: This study aimed to identify associated factors and the prevalence of major avian respiratory diseases, including Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Influenza H9, Infectious Bronchitis (IB), and Newcastle disease in poultry farms in the Dakar and Thiès regions of Senegal.
Methodology:A cross-sectional observational study was conducted on purposively selected farms with over 1000 birds exhibiting respiratory symptoms. Blood samples (400) were collected for serological analysis, and post-mortem examinations were performed to assess disease prevalence. Additionally, data on biosecurity, vaccination, medication practices, general management, and farm infrastructure were obtained through direct observation. Student t-tests were used to analyze the association between different farming practices and respiratory infections.
Findings: The results indicated that proximity to neighboring farms, non-compliant buildings, mixed-age groups, and lack of farmer training were associated with respiratory diseases in the surveyed farms. Serological analysis revealed a high prevalence of Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Influenza H9, each detected in 50% of the farms. Infectious Bronchitis was found in 40% of the farms, while Newcastle disease was detected in 35%. Co-infections were common, with the combination of H9 influenza and Mycoplasma gallisepticum being the most prevalent (33%).
Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study emphasizes the need for targeted interventions, including improved biosecurity measures, vaccination strategies, and farmer training, to control respiratory infections. Strengthening biosecurity protocols and enhancing farmer education will help reduce disease
Land Tenure Policies and Property Rights Affecting Livestock Production in Bangladesh
Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate land tenure policies and property rights affecting livestock production in Bangladesh.
Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection.
