Information Operations as a Question of Law and Cyber Sovereignty

The transmission of information content in the digital space, or its restriction, obstruction or distortion, is an extraordinary tool in the information age. States can be targets of information operations, regardless of their political system. For this reason, the ability and capacity to counter operations in the information space are fundamental issues for any state with a modern defence system. Information operations are, therefore, a necessary tool for the self-defence of sovereign states in the 21st century. However, the question arises as to what legal and institutional framework can provide an appropriate basis for information operations in such a way that the framework does not react to ad hoc events but ensures a systemic response in the long term while upholding the fundamental values of the state. The paper aims to contribute to understanding this problem by reviewing different nation-state solutions and providing a conceptual framework that synthesises legal, political, military and intelligence aspects

Striking a Balance: EU Law, National Security and Procedural Guarantees in Hungarian Immigration Procedures and the Lessons of the GM Case

In the GM case, the Court of Justice of the European Union condemned the Hungarian legal practice of restricting the right to know the reasons for a decision when national security is at stake. The case emphasises individual rights in relation to state interests, highlighting the challenges in legal remedies involving classified data. EU integration requires mutual respect between Member States and the EU, balancing law, public order and national security. While Member States possess procedural autonomy, their rules must align with EU law’s principles of equivalence and effectiveness. The balance between national security and procedural safeguards in immigration decisions is a broader issue. The involvement of secret services and restricted access to case files raise fairness concerns in other Member States as well. The decision in the GM case is a landmark judgment that clarifies the obligations of EU Member States when handling asylum cases involving national security concerns. It underscores the necessity of maintaining the balance between national security and the protection of fundamental rights, thereby ensuring that asylum seekers have access to a fair and transparent legal process. The GM case illustrates a general problem with Hungary’s immigration procedures. In any case, practices that compromise constitutional principles are considered unconstitutional, regardless of the implications associated with the EU

    Kétnyelvűség a tudományban: Út a jogi-közigazgatási terminológiastratégiához

The study aims to review and summarize the changes and trends in the field of law and administration that have an impact on the terminology and the language of the field, and to assess the state of the art of the language and its characteristics. It will address academic and technical language and the needs of lay language users, alike. An important principle of terminological work is that terminology is inseparable from professional information, so it is essential that linguists and professionals work together, and that terminological analyses are based on the professional conceptual system. The study presents the current status of legal and administrative language, the most important information about the corpus, and the main terminological issues. It is evident that in the last fifteen years the language use in the academic publications has become bilingual, Hungarian and English. Consequently, it is essential to record Hungarian terminology and conceptual systems in both Hungarian and English within the field of law and public administration. A terminology database is the most suitable tool for this purpose. Once the work on the Hungarian national terminology database is underway and a framework for its operation is established, it would be appropriate to join.

If we have a look to the data recorded by the Invalsi tests and the OECD Pisa surveys, what emerges is the significant difficulties among young people in approaching  written texts, especially if they are literary works. How can Italian schools respond to this emergency? An answer seems to start from an analysis of youth slang. Only by starting from the world of the new generations it may be possible to plan educational activities that are capable of activating the attention and motivation of learners and of stimulating an active and effective learning process that gradually leads students towards the horizon of literary texts and their language. As evidenced by the data recorded by the Invalsi tests and the OECD Pisa surveys, young people seem to struggle with significant difficulties in approaching written texts, especially  literary works. How can Italian schools respond to this critical situation? A first step in finding the answer could be an analysis of the language use of the youth. Only by starting out from the world  of the new generations can we create educational activities that are capable of motivating young learners and promoting an active and effective learning process which can gradually guide them towards the horizon and language of literary texts. If we have a look to the data recorded by the Invalsi tests and the OECD Pisa surveys, what emerges is the significant difficulties among young people in approaching  written texts, especially if they are literary works. Fire, Wolves, and Antichristt: Representing Lutheranism in the Works of Johannes and Olaus Magnus

    No full text
The Swedish brothers Magnus (Johannes, 1488–1544 and Olaus, 1490–1557) are best known as the authors of two enormous works on Swedish and Scandinavian history. They spent a considerable part of their lives in the shadow of the advent of Lutheranism in Sweden, which was a crisis on a political, religious, and personal level for the brothers, being devout Catholics.  Johannes arrived in Sweden in 1523 and was soon elected archbishop of Uppsala. Only three years later, however, he left Sweden and never returned, and Olaus joined him. The brothers were to spend the rest of their lives abroad, in Poland and in Italy. The entire time they kept trying to convince the Pope and the cardinals to help them reinstate Catholicism in the northern countries, and to make the Swedish king, Gustavus Vasa, mend his Lutheran ways. These two campaigns of persuasion both involved representing the advent of Lutheranism as a crisis, which is visible in Johannes Magnus’ extant letters and the works of both brothers. The aim of this article is to demonstrate how the brothers represent crisis in their works and writings and how their depiction relates to that found in a few other works from the Reformation period
