Derivation pairs on rings and rngs
Full text linkWe generalize a classical result about derivation pairs on function algebras. Specifically, we describe the forms of derivation pairs on rings and rngs (non-unital rings) which are not assumed to be commutative. The proofs are based on knowledge of the solutions of the sine addition formula on a semigroup. Examples are given to illustrate the results

No full textIn this essay we want to investigate the methods as well as the typologies of literary representations relating to the Massif Central, starting from the writers who have chosen this portion of the middle French mountains as the context to set their novels. These are literary works that have the peculiarity of representing the territorialization actions of the inhabitants as well as their ways of life, relationships, and production – of yesteryear or contemporary – of this portion of France starting from the end of the nineteenth century. The enhancement of local literary heritage has contributed to creating new dynamics of local development in the marginal areas of the mountain region in question, such as literary itineraries, literary cafés, writers’ houses, etc.In this essay we want to investigate the methods as well as the typologies of literary representations relating to the Massif Central, starting from the writers who have chosen this portion of the middle French mountains as the context to set their novels. Są to dzieła literackie, które w szczególny sposób przedstawiają działania związane z terytorializacją mieszkańców, a także ich styl życia, relacje, twórczość – dawną i współczesną – na tym obszarze Francji, począwszy od końca XIX wieku. Promocja lokalnego dziedzictwa literackiego przyczyniła się do powstania nowej dynamiki rozwoju lokalnego na obszarach peryferyjnych wspomnianego regionu górskiego, takich jak szlaki literackie, kawiarnie literackie, domy pisarzy itp

No full textThe principle of making forests accessible is a special regulation of Polish law. It allows anyone to enter the forest and obtain forest floor products. This solution should be assessed positively. It is of significant value in terms of making environmental resources accessible. However, many existing solutions require rapid and profound changes to the law. The reason for this state of affairs is that the existing regulations date back to the previous political system. They do not properly take into account property rights. It is also necessary to strengthen the relevant procedures.Zasada udostępniania lasów jest szczególną regulacją prawa polskiego, która pozwala każdemu na wstęp do lasu i zbieranie płodów runa leśnego. Rozwiązanie to trzeba ocenić pozytywnie. Stanowi ono znaczącą wartość w zakresie udostępniania zasobów środowiska. Wiele obowiązujących rozwiązań wymaga jednak szybkich i głębokich zmian prawa. Przepisy te bowiem pochodzą z czasów poprzedniego systemu politycznego i nie uwzględniają w należyty sposób prawa własności. Konieczne jest również wzmocnienie odpowiednich procedur

No full textThe purpose of the article is to provide guidance in identifying the circumstances that the International Criminal Court (ICC) should consider when imposing the sentence for ‘in any other way contributing to the commission of a crime by a group of persons acting with a common purpose’, as provided for in Article 25(3)(d) of the Rome Statute. The proposed exemplary circumstances are not actus reus elements of the concept of joint criminal enterprise (JCE), however they relate to them. Border Crossings and Polar Bears: How Indigenous Hunting Rights in Canada Become Part of a Transnational Economy
No full textThis article considers a specific, highly complex, and contentious case study, the uniquely Canadian phenomenon of the sale of hunting rights by First Nations Canadians to non-Indigenous, non-Canadian trophy hunters who want to hunt polar bears in Canada. These hunters, largely of European ancestry, come mainly from the United States and, more recently, from Western Europe as well. Ultimately, this analysis demonstrates both the necessity and the utility of anchoring transnational analyses in a more-than-human world because access to and protection of living non-human beings plays a crucial role in defining nations and communities. The essay addresses questions such as “What can we understand about the role of the Canadian state, the national government, the US-Canadian border, the philosophical constitution of a more-than-human world in both Indigenous and European-derived epistemologies, and the politics of Indigeneity in the international marketplace, through this one case study focused on human-animal relations?
The Canada/US Border: An International Boundary as Continental Cross-Section
No full textThis Editor’s Note opens the present issue of RIAS through a meditation on the Canada-US border not simply as a line of division but as a dynamic cross-section—one that can reveal the entangled geographies, cultures, and histories of North America. Drawing insight from across the disciplines of geography, literature, history, and environmental studies, it proposes the east-west border as a methodological lens through which to apprehend regional continuities and local specificities alike. Exploring a number of examples, the essay considers the border as simultaneously separating and connecting the two countries, paying special attention to vernacular landscapes that defy simplistic geopolitical readings. The essay further considers the symbolic and contested role of the Haskell Free Library and Opera House in Vermont, recently politicized by US authorities, as a lived space of permeability and intercommunity resilience. Ultimately, the border emerges here as a site where the global and the local, the political and the personal, intersect— offering a uniquely instructive vantage point on the interdependent realities of modern North America

No full textIn this article, I will analyse Monika Lubińska’s volume nareszcie możemy się zjadać (we can finally eat each other) in the context of Jack Halberstam’s idea of “working with collapse.” I will aim to trace how Lubińska’s poetry responds to the ecological crisis and capitalist overproduction: I will focus on how this poetry conceptualises human relations with the non-human world, especially the rubbishy and the polluted. Attention will also be given to how the poet creates trash assemblages, both thematically and formally. Additionally, the analysis examines how Lubińska depicts the transcorpor(e)ality of the world and subverts dichotomies such as interior-exterior, subject-world, and purity-pollution.W artykule tym podejmę się lektury tomu nareszcie możemy się zjadać Moniki Lubińskiej w kontekście zaproponowanej przez Jacka Halberstama idei pracy z rozpadem. Moim celem będzie prześledzenie tego, w jaki sposób poezja Lubińskiej ustawia się względem ekologicznego kryzysu i kapitalistycznej nadprodukcji: skupię się na tym, jak w tomie skonceptualizowane zostały relacje ze światem pozaludzkim, zwłaszcza zaś z tym, co śmieciowe i zanieczyszczone. Przyjrzę się stosowanej przez Lubińską – zarówno w warstwie formalnej, jak i tematycznej tomu – strategii tworzenia śmieciowych asamblaży.
