ABUSO SEXUAL ECLESIÁSTICO EN CHILE. SIGNIFICADOS DE UN EXREPRESENTANTE DE LA INSTITUCIÓN.: UN ESTUDIO DE CASO.
Get PDFThe aims of this study was to learn how representative of the Catholic Church interpreted situations of sexual abuse committed by his peers. A study was conducted with a qualitative methodology through a single case study design. The participant was a lay adult former representative of the Chilean Catholic Church, who served as priest, priest and vicar within the institution. An in-depth interview was conducted, and a thematic analysis was carried out based on the content of the interview. Five emerging categories were revealed in the results obtained: the institutional structure of the church; the abuse of power and conscience; the pedestalization of the clergy; the survivor\u27s experience; and the church\u27s reaction to the crisis. These structural and institutional elements were described as significant factors in the reproduction and maintenance of church sexual abuse. Indeed, from the analysis of the results it can be concluded that these elements could contribute to harboring and maintaining sexual crimes within the Catholic Church; causing an defficient response to the crisis; and generating significative harm to the victims. Implications for the study and management of the Catholic Church to address the institutional crisis are discussed.El propósito de esta investigación fue conocer cómo un ex representante de la iglesia católica significaba las situaciones de abuso sexual cometidas por sus pares. Se realizó un estudio con una metodología cualitativa a través de un diseño de estudio de caso único. El participante fue un adulto laico ex representante de la iglesia católica chilena, que cumplió cargos de sacerdote, cura y vicario dentro de la institución. Se realizó una entrevista en profundidad al participante, y se realizó un análisis temático a partir del contenido de la entrevista. En los resultados obtenidos se revelaron cinco categorías emergentes (la estructura institucional de la iglesia; el abuso de poder y de conciencia; la pedestalización del clero; la experiencia del superviviente; y la reacción de la iglesia frente a la crisis). Estos elementos estructurales e institucionales se describieron como factores significativos para la reproducción y el mantenimiento del abuso sexual eclesiástico. En efecto, a partir del análisis de los resultados se puede concluir que estos elementos podrían contribuir a albergar y mantener los delitos sexuales al interior de la iglesia católica; ocasionando una respuesta ineficiente ante la crisis; y generando un daño irreparable en las víctimas. PEREZHIVANIE COMO UNA UNIDAD DE ANÁLISIS TEÓRICO-METODOLÓGICA NO ESCISIONISTA PARA LA PSICOLOGÍA
Get PDFThis theoretical article analyzes the relevance of establishing units of analysis as theoretical-methodological positions in general and, in particular, proposes perezhivanie as a non-divisive unit of analysis for psychological science. This is proposed as a way to overcome the dualistic matrix and the philosophy of splitting that keeps traditional psychology analyzing and generating knowledge in a fragmented and reductionist way. In this sense, based on the Vygotskian historical-cultural approach, which positions theory and methodology as a dialectical unit that must abandon functionalist and fragmentary perspectives, an approach is proposed from the units of analysis as complex and integral constructions, capable of assuming the totality of psychic phenomena. In this context, the historical-cultural evolution of perezhivanie is analyzed, and it is proposed to use it as a unifying theoretical-methodological unit of analysis in current psychology.Este artículo teórico analiza la relevancia de establecer las unidades de análisis como posicionamientos teórico-metodológicos en general y, en particular, propone la perezhivanie como una unidad de análisis no escisionista para la ciencia psicológica. Lo anterior se propone como una forma de superar la matriz dualista y la filosofía de la escisión que mantiene a la psicología tradicional analizando y generando conocimiento de manera fragmentada y reduccionista. En ese sentido, con base en el enfoque histórico-cultural vygotskiano, que posiciona la teoría y metodología como una unidad dialéctica que debe abandonar las perspectivas funcionalistas y fragmentarias, se plantea un abordaje desde las unidades de análisis como construcciones complejas e integrales, capaces de asumir las totalidades de los fenómenos psíquicos. PROCEDIMIENTO DE REPARACIÓN A VÍCTIMAS DE ABUSO SEXUAL POR REPRESENTANTES DE LA IGLESIA CATÓLICA EN CATALUÑA
Get PDFChild sexual abuse committed by representatives of the Catholic Church is a historical problem in the institution. The Catalan Ombudsman created at the beginning of 2019 an independent and interdisciplinary Commission that had the mandate to respond to the needs of truth, justice and reparation of adult victims of unprosecutable cases of child sexual abuse by the Spanish Catholic Church. Through an interview with the alleged victim and the collection of complementary information from the Church we present the characteristics of the abuse, the perpetrator, the silence imposed on the victims, the psychosocial consequences and the impact on the family context, as well as the demands of reparation. The sample was composed of 13 adults (10 men and 2 women) who were between 5 and 17 years old at the time the abuses were committed. The results show what has been obtained in other previous international studies regarding the violation of the trust of the victim and their family by the perpetrator, who acted with total impunity within the institution, the serious consequences of the abuse in the victim’s development and in their family context, the maintenance of secrecy by the institution, and the need for moral reparation that the Spanish Church, in general, has neither assumed nor facilitated.El abuso sexual infantil cometido por representantes de la Iglesia católica es un problema histórico en la institución. El Síndic de Greuges de Cataluña creó a principios de 2019 una Comisión independiente e interdisciplinaria que tenía el mandato de dar respuesta a las necesidades de verdad, justicia y reparación de las víctimas adultas de casos de abuso sexual infantil por parte de la Iglesia católica española ya prescritos. Mediante una entrevista a las personas afectadas y la recogida de información complementaria de la Iglesia, se presentan las características de los abusos, el victimario, el silencio impuesto a las víctimas, las consecuencias psicosociales y el impacto en el contexto familiar, así como las demandas de reparación de 13 casos (10 varones y 2 mujeres) que comparecieron en la Comisión y que tenían entre 5 y 17 años en el momento en que se cometieron los abusos. Los resultados muestran lo que ha venido obteniéndose en otros estudios internacionales previos respecto a la violación de la confianza de la víctima y su familia por parte del victimario, que actuó con total impunidad dentro de la institución, las graves consecuencias de los abusos en el desarrollo y en las relaciones familiares, el mantenimiento del secreto por parte de la institución, y la necesidad de reparación moral que la Iglesia española, en general, no ha asumido ni facilitado
LA POSICIÓN DE LA IGLESIA CATÓLICA ANTE EL ABUSO SEXUAL ECLESIÁSTICO: ANÁLISIS TEMÁTICO DE CARTAS DE OBISPOS Y SACERDOTES CHILENOS AL VATICANO EN UN CASO DE ABUSO SEXUAL ECLESIÁSTICO
Get PDFChild sexual abuse is a phenomenon that has been gaining relevance as a social problem that threatens the rights of children and young people and that generates bio-psychosocial severe consequences. Sexual and conscience abuse in ecclesiastical contexts has had relative visibility given the weight of religious institutions in societies in cultural transition like ours. Although these forms of abuse share characteristics with other forms of violence, they have specificities given the ecclesiastical structure and culture. Considering this, we analyze the arguments that bishops, priests and academics elaborated through 22 letters sent to the Vatican in defence of a priest in a case of public connotation during the canonical process whose result was the expulsion of the clerical state. Through Thematic Analysis, we identified four themes referring: the relational contexts between the priest, his defenders and his victims; the purpose for the elaboration of the letters; The extraordinary personal attributes of the priest and the characteristics of the complainants as an argument would make abusive situations impossible; A set of arguments that explaining the complaints. These issues allow us to discuss both the defence logics that are present in situations of ecclesiastical abuse. In addition, what is identified as the position of the third party, spectator or incumbent who deploys actions and narratives that can potentially become protective agents or, as in this case, could have generated actions of secondary victimization, impunity, and silencing.El abuso sexual infantil es un fenómeno que ha ido tomando relevancia como problema social que atenta contra los derechos de niños, niñas y jóvenes y que genera graves consecuencias bio psicosociales. El abuso sexual y de conciencia en contextos eclesiásticos ha tenido una visibilización relativa dado el peso de las instituciones religiosas en sociedades en transición cultural como la chilena. Si bien estas formas de abuso comparten características con otras modalidades de violencia, posee especificidades dada la estructura y cultura eclesiástica. Considerando esto, analizamos los argumentos que obispos, sacerdotes y académicos elaboraron a través de 22 cartas enviadas hacia el Vaticano en defensa de un sacerdote en un caso de connotación pública durante el proceso canónico cuyo resultado final fue la expulsión del estado clerical. A través de Análisis temático identificamos cuatro temas referidos a: Los contextos relacionales entre el sacerdote, sus defensores y las víctimas; El propósito para la elaboración de las cartas; Los atributos personales extraordinarios del sacerdote y las características de los denunciantes como argumento que haría imposible el hecho de las situaciones de abuso; Un conjunto de argumentos que explican las denuncias. Estos temas nos permiten discutir tanto sobre las lógicas de defensa que están presentes frente a situaciones de abuso eclesiástico como de lo que se identifica como la posición del tercero, espectador o incumbente que despliega acciones y narrativas que potencialmente pueden convertirse en agentes protectores o como en este caso podrían haber generado acciones de victimización secundaria, impunidad y silenciamiento.  
HACIA UNA ÉTICA DE LEALTAD A LO VISIBLE: REPLANTEAR LA EDUCACIÓN INTERCULTURAL EN EL CONTEXTO DE LA MIGRACIÓN TRANSFRONTERIZA
Get PDFAccording to recent history, education in the bordering areas of our country today faces an evident cross-border migration that reconfigures the contiguous space, leading us to a context of humanitarian emergency. From now on, the crossing of hundreds of people and families of Venezuelan origin in the Tarapacá region through the unauthorized Colchane crossing is a relevant issue in the field of border studies. This leads us to reflection from an interdisciplinary approach, where intercultural education, ethics, and critical geography come together in the inescapable presence of the migrant. In this sense, we consider it necessary to reconsider intercultural education from a new subject without leaving aside the fundamental acts that an ethic of loyalty to the visible offers as an alternative to an ethic of the border founded so far on inequality and difference to the detriment of the migrant. Although this research is presented as a philosophical reflection, there is no hesitation in resorting to the study of documentary sources in the regional written press, including informative notes on different virtual platforms to demonstrate the local consequences of an "irregular" migration that has the migrant Venezuelan as its main protagonist.De acuerdo con la historia reciente la educación en las zonas limítrofes de nuestro país se enfrenta hoy a una evidente migración transfronteriza que reconfigura el espacio contiguo llevándonos a un contexto de emergencia humanitaria. Desde ya el cruce de cientos de personas y familias de origen venezolano en la región de Tarapacá por el paso no habilitado de Colchane es un tema relevante en el ámbito de los estudios fronterizos. Esto nos lleva a la reflexión desde un enfoque interdisciplinar, en donde la educación intercultural, la ética y la geografía crítica se reúnen en la ineludible presencia del migrante. En ese sentido, consideramos necesario replantear la educación intercultural desde un nuevo sujeto, sin dejar de lado los actos fundamentales que una ética de lealtad a lo visible ofrece como alternativa a una ética de la frontera fundada hasta el momento en la desigualdad y diferencia en detrimento del migrante. Si bien esta investigación se plantea como una reflexión filosófica, no se duda en recurrir al estudio de fuentes documentales en la prensa escrita regional, e incluso a notas informativas en distintas plataformas virtuales para evidenciar las consecuencias locales de una migración "irregular" que tiene al migrante venezolano como su principal protagonista
EL DISCURSO ASOCIADO AL SISTEMA DE CREENCIAS RELIGIOSAS COMO FACILITADOR DEL ABUSO SEXUAL EN LA IGLESIA CATÓLICA
Get PDFBeliefs are a fundamental part of human existence. They provide us with a worldview, a place in the world, an identity, as well as belonging. This scenario has many times served priests, religious people or active members of the Church, to use these beliefs and the discourse behind them to facilitate abuse, be it of conscience, sexual or spiritual. The abusive practices the Church currently has, are not only part of a structure, but they are supported by the narrative that emerges from several interpretations of the institution’s truths of faith, generating submission, blind obedience and invisibility of crimes committed against children, adolescents and vulnerable adults. It becomes necessary to identify concepts or ideas underneath the discourse on beliefs, creating a domination factor that prevents, not only questioning the institution and the way we look at it today, but also prevents dissenting, confronting power structures and the empowerment of new voices allowing to break with the discourses of domination.Las creencias son una parte fundamental de la existencia humana. Estas nos proporcionan una cosmovisión, un lugar en el mundo, una identidad, así como pertenencia. Todo este escenario muchas veces ha servido para que sacerdotes, religiosos/as o miembros activos de la Iglesia, utilicen las creencias y los discursos asociados a ellas para propiciar el abuso, sea de conciencia, sexual o espiritual. Las prácticas abusivas que hoy posee la Iglesia, no sólo son parte de una estructura, sino que están avaladas por esos discursos que brotan de una serie de interpretaciones acerca de las verdades de fe que esta institución instala, generando sumisión, obediencia ciega y la invisibilidad de los crímenes cometidos contra los niños, niñas, adolescentes y adultos vulnerables. Se vuelve necesario identificar los conceptos o ideas que están integradas en los discursos sobre las creencias y que ejercen un factor de dominación que impide, no sólo el cuestionamiento a la Institución y la forma en que esta hoy se nos presenta, sino que impide el disenso, la confrontación con las estructuras de poder y el empoderamiento de nuevas voces que permitan desinstalar los discursos de dominación
DISEÑO Y EVALUACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA DE INTERVENCIÓN EN COMPETENCIAS PARENTALES APRENDER A CRECER
Get PDFThe lack of interventions focused on parenthood and based on evidence of families in trial for child abuse/endangerment, in Chile, inspired the design and evaluation of the results obtained by the Program "Aprender a Crecer" regarding parenting capabilities and stress, in families at psychosocial risk in the Región de Los Rios. A mixed design of concurrent triangulation was carried out with pre (T1), post (T2), and follow-up (T3), no control group, which was complemented with a qualitative study. PSI 4SF and E2P tools were applied to 34 guardians and organized 3 focal groups. After the implementation of the Aprender a Crecer program, parental stress in general diminished significantly and per domain, meanwhile parental capabilities improved in all areas, visualizing itself (the program) as a relevant form of intervention for guardians in trial for child abuse. La escasez de intervenciones centradas en la parentalidad y basadas en evidencia en familias judicializadas por maltrato infantil, en Chile, instó a diseñar y evaluar los resultados del Programa Aprender a Crecer en cuanto a estrés y capacidades parentales, en familias en riesgo psicosocial en la Región de los Ríos. Se realizó un diseño mixto de triangulación concurrente con pre (T1), post (T2) y seguimiento (T3). Se aplicaron los instrumentos PSI 4-SF y E2P a 34 cuidadores y se realizaron 3 grupos focales. Tras implementar el programa, descendió significativamente el estrés parental general y por dominios, mientras que en competencias parentales mejoraron todas las áreas, visualizándose como una propuesta atingente de intervención para cuidadores judicializados por malos tratos
IDEACIÓN SUICIDA, ANSIEDAD E INSOMNIO: UN ANÁLISIS DE MEDIACIÓN EN ADOLESCENTES
Get PDFSuicidal ideation problems during adolescence have been linked to an increased risk of insomnia symptoms, but little research has examined the factors that may explain this association. The current study aims to determine the mediating role of anxiety in the relationship between suicidal ideation and insomnia in Peruvian adolescents from the general population. The research proposes an associative strategy of explanatory design with latent variables, with a quantitative and transversal approach, based on a model of structural equations. 237 adolescents participated (57.4% were women, ME age = 14 years old, SD = 1.51) from two public educational institutions that voluntarily responded to the Inventory of Frequency of Suicidal Ideation (IFIS), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-2 (GAD-2) and the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). The results of the mediation model demonstrated that anxiety plays a partial mediating role between suicidal ideation and insomnia. Consequently, anxiety symptoms may be the main target in psychological therapy to reduce the severity of suicidal ideation and insomnia symptoms in Peruvian adolescents from the general population.Los problemas de ideación suicida durante la adolescencia se han relacionado con un mayor riesgo de síntomas de insomnio, pero escasas investigaciones han examinado los factores que pueden explicar esta asociación. El estudio actual tiene como objetivo determinar el rol mediador que presenta la ansiedad en la relación entre la ideación suicida y el insomnio en adolescentes peruanos de la población general. La investigación plantea una estrategia asociativa de diseño explicativo con variables latentes, de enfoque cuantitativo y transversal, basado en un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales. Participaron 237 adolescentes (57.4% eran mujeres, edad ME = 14 años, DE = 1.51) de dos instituciones educativas públicas que respondieron voluntariamente el Inventario de Frecuencia de Ideación Suicida (IFIS), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-2 (GAD-2) y la Escala de Insomnio de Atenas (EIA). Los resultados del modelo de mediación demostraron que la ansiedad desempeña una función de mediación parcial entre la ideación suicida y el insomnio. En consecuencia, los síntomas de ansiedad pueden ser objetivos principales en la terapia psicológica para reducir la gravedad de la ideación suicida y los síntomas de insomnio en adolescentes peruanos de la población general
SOBRE EL ENTIMEMA E INCONMENSURABILIDAD COGNITIVA
Get PDFThe thesis of incommensurability (IT), which fueled discussions in the philosophy of science for years, seemed to have been buried. Advances and developments in the philosophy of language showed an overcoming of the initial dilemmas posed by Kuhn (1962) and Feyerabend (1962). However, one of its reappraisals came through a so-called cognitive reading proposed by Alexander Bird (2005, 2008). The conceptual core of the latter is to understand IT as resting on the cognitive practices of disciplinary agents instead of locating its origin in the theories and concepts themselves. This paper analyzes this theoretical branch, even though it argues against Bird regarding the role of enthymematic reasoning (enthymemes) in the generation of incommensurability. In opposition to his project, it is argued that enthymemes are significant generators of cognitive incommensurability, both at the disciplinary and inter-disciplinary levels.La tesis de la inconmensurabilidad (TI), que alimentó las discusiones en filosofía de la ciencia durante años, parecía haberse sepultado. Avances y desarrollos en filosofía del lenguaje mostraban una superación de los dilemas iniciales planteados por Kuhn (1962) y Feyerabend (1962). Uno de sus rescates, no obstante, vino a través de una lectura denominada cognitiva, propuesta por Alexander Bird (2005, 2008). El núcleo conceptual de esta última es comprender la TI como descansando en las prácticas cognitivas de los agentes disciplinares, en vez de localizar su origen en las teorías y conceptos propiamente tal. En este artículo se analiza esta rama teórica, aun cuando se arguye contra Bird en lo concerniente al rol que cumplen los razonamientos entimemáticos (entimemas) en la generación de inconmensurabilidad.
