    No full text
Introducction: Self-regulated learning is the student’s ability to take control of their own learning, through the conscious choice of cognitive and metacognitive strategies. In virtuality, this competence becomes a determining factor to achieve autonomy that can improve student interactions in virtual learning environments. Objetive: evaluate the effectiveness of self-regulation of learning in virtual environments in undergraduate and graduate programs from a Colombian university. Methodology: quantitative with descriptive and correlational statis- tics applied to three moments of the training event and three phases of self-regulation of learning. The sample was eight teachers and 533 students from six virtual academic programs. Results: A rupture was found in the three moments of the training event, which limited the development of the self-regulation cycle of learning. The variables: foresight, execution, self-reflection was significant for measurement and those with the greatest influence on self-regulatory processes were related to the level of training in three undergraduate and three postgraduate degrees. For the university studied, the Self-Efficacy Index had a value of 0.31. Conclusions: There is evidence of a pro- blem in educational management associated with pedagogical, tech- nological, communicative and/or management factors, which reduce the formative intention so that the student achieves autonomy. It is important to holistically investigate and measure the self-regulation of learning in virtual environments, as a process and formative act. The self-efficacy index is applicable in other investigations in virtual learning environments

The non-alcoholic beverage industry stands out as one of the fastest-growing agroindustrial sectors, despite the difficulties generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, with optimistic projections in the coming years. Its importance lies in the economic, productive, and social contribution and the social responsibility programs companies carry out for their interest groups. However, the industry faces challenges such as competition, government restrictions related to the environment, quality and safety of products and processes, and product diversification due to changes in consumer demand for more natural products. Therefore, companies in the non-alcoholic beverage sector must establish and implement appropriate strategies to maintain the quality of their products, optimize costs, and satisfy continuous and changing customer requirements. The present study presents the application of the Lean Manufacturing methodology as a philosophy of continuous improvement aimed at achieving early victories in terms of quality and productivity. It costs through three-phase methods, which consisted of 1) diagnosis of the current state of the production line, 2) identification of the types and sources of waste that affect the efficiency and quality of the process, 3) Action Plan and implementation of appropriate Lean Manufacturing techniques and, 4) Evaluation of the impact of the improvement proposal on time, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction indicators. The case study is presented in the process of changing the flavor of a non-alcoholic beverage company, which is of high value in Latin America and is part of one of the largest companies worldwide. The results evidenced significant improvements in time lost due to flavor change, which went from 234 min to 170 min, decreased costs due to a reduction in time lost in flavor change went from USD 258,750 to USD 203,500, and improvement in a corporate culture focused on quality and continuous improvement, with an impact on reducing non-value added times or waste time

A hypoplastic model for pre- and post-liquefaction analysis of sands

    No full text
This article proposes an extended constitutive model for liquefaction analysis of sands. The proposed model is formulated based on the hypoplastic model for granular soils by von Wolffersdorf (1996), enhanced with Intergranular Strain Anisotropy by Fuentes et al. (2019), which is usually referred to as ISA-hypoplasticity. The proposed extended model includes some modifications that are indispensable for the correct prediction of liquefaction-related analysis: (i) a new Lode-angle-dependent function for post-liquefaction shear strain accumulation, (ii) a modification for fabric change effects, (iii) the theory of the so-called semifluidized state. The first modification allows the model to predict shear strain accumulation in extension and compression during cyclic mobility. The second and third modifications, were initially developed by Liao et al. (2022) for hypoplasticity with conventional intergranular strain based on the pioneer work by Barrero et al. (2020) for Sanisand, and enable the model to reproduce fabric change effects upon loading reversal, and stiffness and dilatancy degradation at low effective stress levels, respectively. With the consideration of the new Lode-angle function, the proposed model realistically predict the increasing shear strain accumulation in both extension and compression without adopting a circular critical state surface, as adopted in Liao et al. (2022). The proposed model was carefully calibrated and validated based on a series of monotonic and cyclic triaxial tests on Zbraslav and Karlsruhe fine sands, considering various testing conditions. The comparison between experimental measurements and numerical predictions of undrained cyclic tests suggests that the proposed model accurately describes the pre- and post-liquefaction stages, as well as the stress attractors
