An application based on the concept of gamification to promote cultural tourism in the municipality of San Diego in the department of Cesar, Colombia

    No full text
The Department of Cesar is a highly important tourist attraction in Colombia where most of its visitors go on vacation, recreation, and leisure. Despite being positioned as a high tourist attraction, it has been possible to identify that there is a lack of public-private articulation, as well as the participation of the academy in the development of projects with a greater regional impact, weaknesses in the working capital of the sector, little entrepreneurship, and innovation around the generation of new tourism products. That is why it is necessary to strengthen and expand the coverage of national or regional programs, projects, and initiatives on these routes, corridors, and infrastructure projects proposed, the development of information systems that allow assertive decision-making, as well as the pertinent regulation by the sustainability framework. One of the sectors that require support and strengthening is the tourism sector which requires support to strengthen and boost the economy. The purpose of this article is to show the development of an application based on gamification that allows the cultural strengthening of the region, which allowed appropriation processes to be generated in the community that is the object of intervention of the department and economic revitalization

An intelligent approach to determine component volume percentages in a symmetrical homogeneous three-phase fluid in scaled pipe conditions

    No full text
Over time, the accumulation of scale within the transmission pipeline results in a decrease in the internal diameter of the pipe, leading to a decline in efficiency and energy waste. The employment of a gamma ray attenuation system that is non-invasive has been found to be a highly precise diagnostic technique for identifying volumetric percentages across various states. The most appropriate setup for simulating a volume percentage detection system through Monte Carlo N particle (MCNP) simulations involves a system consisting of two NaI detectors and dual-energy gamma sources, namely 241Am and 133Ba radioisotopes. A three-phase flow consisting of oil, water, and gas exhibits symmetrical homogenous flow characteristics across varying volume percentages as it traverses through scaled pipes of varying thicknesses. It is worth mentioning that there is an axial symmetry of flow inside the pipe that creates a homogenous flow pattern. In this study, the experiment involved the emission of gamma rays from one end of a pipe, with photons being absorbed by two detectors located at the other end. The resulting data included three distinct features, namely the counts under the photopeaks of 241Am and 133Ba from the first detector as well as the total count from the second detector. Through the implementation of a two-output MLP neural network utilising the aforementioned inputs, it is possible to accurately forecast the volumetric percentages with an RMSE of under 1.22, regardless of the thickness of the scale. The minimal error value ensures the efficacy of the proposed technique and the practicality of its implementation in the domains of petroleum and petrochemicals

Integrated automation and control system (IACS) based on the discrete events control using Petri nets (PN) that encompasses the design, analysis, and validation of models of industrial pumping systems are not commonly used. Our case study is the design, simulation, and initial implementation of a supervision system using GHENeSys PN and EROS software at the "San Juan" Pumping Station in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. These tools allow describing the models of the states of the local automatic process and the operation of the Supervisor to consider the functions of Preventive Maintenance and Alarm Treatment. The IACS starts from the MatLab simulation of main control loops and later uses the GHENeSys extended hierarchical net to model a modularly structured integrated automation system that responds to synchronized functional demands. This methodology has the advantages of full hierarchical modularity from local control to production management, various modular verification and validation tools, and full IEC61131 compatibility. This reduces design errors and implementation time with increased integration efficiency

Design of a supply chain-based production and distribution system based on multi-stage stochastic programming

    No full text
Supply chains are one of the key tools in optimizing production and distribution simultaneously. However, information uncertainty is always a challenge in production and distribution management. The main purpose of this paper is to design a two-echelon supply chain in a multi-cycle state and in conditions of demand uncertainty. The task includes determining the number and location of distribution centers, planning capacity for active distribution centers, and determining the amount of shipments between different levels so that the total costs of the chain are minimized. Uncertainty is applied through discrete scenarios in the model and the problem is formulated by multi-stage stochastic programming method in the form of a mixed integer linear model. The results acquired using two indicators called VMS and VSS demonstrated that modeling the supply chain design problem with the multi-stage stochastic approach can result in significant costs reduction. Plus, utilizing mathematical expectation can generate misleading results, therefore resulting in the development of supply chain designs incapable of satisfying demand due to its overlooked limitations

Critical rare earth metal adsorption onto expanded vermiculite: accurate modeling through response surface methodology and machine learning techniques

    No full text
The circular economy of rare earth metals (REM), such as dysprosium, is essential for a sustainable future in clean energy and high-tech fields. Adsorption has gained attention to recover and reintegrate REM into the productive chain; however, accurate modeling of adsorptive processes still needs to be addressed, which delays further scale-up studies. Thus, this paper studied the adsorption of Dy on expanded vermiculite and applied novel empirical methods, such as artificial neural networks (ANN) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS), and the classical response surface methodology (RSM) for modeling of dysprosium recovery as a function of adsorbent size, mass, and pH of the solution, variables often ignored in the mathematical modeling of adsorption. In our work, the effect of each operational parameter on Dy removal efficiency was examined by the RSM approach, in which only the adsorbent dosage and pH were the significant factors. So, ANFIS with two input membership functions (Gaussian type) was the most accurate procedure to predict and model the dysprosium removal efficiency (R2 = 0.99681). Also, vermiculite removed dysprosium with high efficiency (99.2%) under the best experimental conditions, at pH around 3.5 and adsorbent mass of 0.64 g, indicating an effective process optimization. The loaded vermiculite, after the adsorption, was characterized by textural and thermal properties that confirmed the stability of the material. Thus, according to basic operational parameters, accurate modeling of the Dy adsorption on expanded vermiculite (a low-cost, available, and non-toxic material) can improve adsorption technology's maturity to reconcentrate and recover rare earth metals

Automobiles, motorcycles, buses, among other means, represent a way of transporting in and out of cities, because they reduce travel times from one place to another. Not only of human beings, but of all types of cargo, becoming a way to solve the transfer of all types of merchandise, facilitating trade and industry, among other areas of the national economy. The means of land transportation, and consequently the transporters, can be both individual and massive, as well as private or public, they are even a means of subsistence for millions of Colombians who are dedicated to the transport of passengers or cargo. In a country like Colombia, with almost 50 million inhabitants, land transport is essential, especially in cities with many inhabitants, within which most of the public passenger transport is concentrated, as well as the largest number of private vehicles dedicated to transportation. That is why institutions are required to be in charge of establishing and enforcing traffic regulations that allow greater and better circulation, as well as the reduction of accidents and accidents that daily claim the lives of many citizens. Every person who drives a land transport vehicle must go through a driving course according to the category of the vehicle and subsequently obtain a driving license that accredits him as a competent person for this function. The purpose of this course is not only to learn to drive a vehicle, but also to know all the traffic regulations designed with the purpose of protecting the life of the driver, his passengers and those of other individuals, whether they are passers-by or other drivers. and passengers. However, many of these people are reluctant to comply with these regulations, which is why they cause accidents on a daily basis that unfortunately take the lives of many people. That is why the officials of the different traffic control entities in the country have been trained to contain this type of situation, through various means, such as the imposition of subpoenas and different punishments for those who do not comply with the rules, as well as preventive measures on road safety. In the present work, different forms of prevention and their effectiveness on this problem are analyzed, as well as possible solutions that allow to encourage road culture in the city of Barranquilla, in the search for the formation of citizens aware of the need to protect their own lives. and foreign through road safetyLista de Tablas y Figuras 12—Introducción 14-- Planteamiento del Problema 15-- Objetivos 24-- Objetivo General 24-- Objetivos específicos 24-- Estado del Arte 25-- Marco Teórico 31-- Herramientas multicriterio para tomas de decisiones 31-- Técnica AHP (Proceso Analítico Jerárquico) 32-- Quality Function Deployment (QFD) 34-- Señales de tránsito 37-- Comparendos 41-- Cultura Vial 43-- Marco Legal 46-- Materiales y métodos 47-- Descripción de la población de estudio 47-- Alcance de la investigación 47-- Enfoque de la Investigación 47-- Técnicas e Instrumentos 47-- Resultados 51-- Análisis diagnóstico sobre los comparendos de tránsito en la ciudad de Barranquilla.

An artificial bee bare-bone hunger games search for global optimization and high-dimensional feature selection

    No full text
The domains of contemporary medicine and biology have generated substantial high-dimensional genetic data. Identifying representative genes and decreasing the dimensionality of the data can be challenging. The goal of gene selection is to minimize computing costs and enhance classification precision. Therefore, this article designs a new wrapper gene selection algorithm named artificial bee bare-bone hunger games search (ABHGS), which is the hunger games search (HGS) integrated with an artificial bee strategy and a Gaussian bare-bone structure to address this issue. To evaluate and validate the performance of our proposed method, ABHGS is compared to HGS and a single strategy embedded in HGS, six classic algorithms, and ten advanced algorithms on the CEC 2017 functions. The experimental results demonstrate that the bABHGS outperforms the original HGS. Compared to peers, it increases classification accuracy and decreases the number of selected features, indicating its actual engineering utility in spatial search and feature selection

A review of the antibiotic ofloxacin: Current status of ecotoxicology and scientific advances in its removal from aqueous systems by adsorption technology

    No full text
It is estimated that the growth of the population, the augmented expectancy of life, and the emergence of new pandemics will significantly increase the consumption of pharmaceutical drugs in the coming years. Due to its high efficiency, the group of fluoroquinolones, where the antibiotic ofloxacin hydrochloride (OFL) is found, is widely used to combat bacterial infections in humans and animals. The big problem is concentrated in the effluents generated by industries and hospitals. Additionally, most of the drug is not absorbed by the body and is released directly into domestic effluents. On the other hand, treatment stations have removal limitations for small concentrations. This review analyzed all adsorbents developed and used in OFL removal, listing the main parameters influencing the process. In the end, the other existing technologies in the literature and the gaps and future prospects were described. OFL adsorption in most studies occurs under basic conditions (pH between 6.5 and 8). The increase in concentration provides an increase in adsorption capacity. The adsorbents analyzed showed moderate kinetics, reaching equilibrium before 250 min for most studies. The pseudo-second-order model showed the best statistical fit. In most of the studies, the increase in temperature (313, 315, and 328 K) favored the adsorption of OFL. The Langmuir monolayer model represented most of the isothermal studies. The adsorption capacity varied from 3702 to 0.3986 mg g−1. In this aspect, factors such as OFL concentration and textural characteristics of the adsorbent exerted great influence. The thermodynamic parameters were compatible with the isothermal data, where the endothermic nature of the studies was confirmed. Physical interactions (π-π stacking, H bonding, hydrophobic and electrostatic interactions) governed the main adsorption mechanism. Although some studies stated that chemosorption occurred, thermodynamic parameters cannot validate the same. Coexisting ions in the solution can positively and negatively influence OFL adsorption. The listed studies are all applied to batch processes, where fixed bed studies should be better explored. From this review, it can be concluded that adsorption is a promising technique for OFL removal. However, it is extremely necessary to break the laboratory scale barrier and analyze possible conditions for applying these materials in treating real effluents together with combining technologies
