Apart from that, the factors that affect the quality of services for Class IIB Amuntai Prison visits are the driving factors, namely clear, timely information and no fees for the service process. While the inhibiting factors are insufficient budget funds and the lack of number of employees. The suggestions put forward by the researchers were for the Head of Amuntai Prison to evaluate the making of a dividing partition between visitors and WBP, for Amuntai Lapas employees to add office infrastructure to support ease of service, for visitors to always comply with the rules in Amuntai Lapas

Simulacra and the Collapse of Truth in Camus' The Misunderstanding: A Study through Baudrillard's Lens

This article seeks to study the complex association between simulacra and the collapse of truth in Albert Camus' play The Misunderstanding, in light of the theoretical paradigm of Jean Baudrillard. By inspecting the themes of perception, reality, and identity in the text, the present study discusses how the characters’ conversations are inundated in misunderstanding and illusion, resulting in disastrous consequences. Baudrillard's concept of simulacra, where symbols and imageries displace real experiences, delivers a standpoint through which to identify the intermission between the characters' outlooks and the central truths of their life. The research also asserts that Camus' representation of existential despair and the quest for purpose is in harmony with Baudrillard's claim that the present society is more and more characterized by a disinterest in reality, where signs and symbols regulate our understanding. Through a systematic inspection of significant scenes and character associations, this article reveals how the characters' incapacity to comprehend the authenticity of their relations finally results in a sense of distancing and misfortune

Theoretical and Legal Problems of International Cooperation in Combating Corruption Crimes

This article delves into the complex theoretical and legal challenges involved in tackling transnational organized crime and corruption. The main goal is to better understand what defines a corruption crime and how international cooperation can be strengthened to address it effectively. Drawing from both legal theory and real-world case studies, the paper explores the different types of transnational crimes—such as human trafficking and regional corruption—and the signs that help identify them. By examining a range of international legal frameworks, including treaties and conventions, the research highlights the gaps in current systems of enforcement and cooperation between states. These gaps often hinder the effective prosecution of crimes that cross borders. The paper also stresses the importance of national legal systems in supporting global efforts, while recognizing the challenges posed by differing laws and approaches from one country to another. The study finds that while there has been notable progress in international cooperation, there are still significant hurdles to overcome—especially when it comes to harmonizing laws and ensuring consistent enforcement. In conclusion, the paper calls for more robust legal frameworks, better coordination between countries, and the creation of stronger enforcement mechanisms to combat corruption and other cross-border crimes. The paper also suggests that further research is necessary to address emerging threats, such as those posed by cybercrime and the growing use of digital platforms for criminal activities

Political Rhetoric and Sectarian Agitations: An Analysis of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Speeches in Handling The Abduction of The Chibok School Girls

Since 2009, the Federal Government of Nigeria has been engaged in war against Boko Haram terrorists. A high point of the war was the kidnapping of about 276 girls from Government Secondary School, Chibok by Boko Haram terrorists on 14th April, 2014. Political rhetoric has been found to play a key role in countering acts of terror, managing terrorism and its aftermath, seeking support from both citizens and the international community and building citizens’ confidence in a nation’s government and its military. It is against this backdrop that this study set out to undertake a rhetorical analysis of selected speeches by Goodluck Jonathan in handling the abduction of the Chibok School girls. The study was anchored on Austin (1962)’s speech act theory and the Neo-Aristotelian method of rhetorical criticism. Findings revealed that the rhetorical canons of inventio, disposito and memoria were effectively used by Goodluck Jonathan to highlight the devastating effect of Boko Haram’s acts of terror on the Nigerian populace and to make a plea for a unified front in tackling the menace.  Pathos, a rhetorical proof, was significantly employed to draw support from the audience. The recommendation was on the need for the government to have a robust rhetorical strategy in place that can cater for sectarian agitations and exigencies such as the Boko Haram insurgency

The Impact of Remittances on Household Consumption in Central Asia

Remittances serve as a critical financial lifeline for households in developing countries, often surpassing foreign direct investment and official development aid, yet their long-term developmental role remains debated. In Central Asia, and particularly in Uzbekistan, remittances flow predominantly through regional migration corridors, influencing household consumption patterns in ways that diverge from other migration contexts. While the poverty-alleviating effects of remittances are documented, less is known about their relationship to broader macroeconomic indicators such as GNI growth, inflation, unemployment, and domestic credit in Central Asia. This study investigates the correlation between remittance inflows and household consumption growth in five Central Asian countries from 2006–2022, with a focus on Uzbekistan. Findings reveal significant cross-country differences: Uzbekistan exhibited the highest average consumption growth (13.5%) despite the highest remittance volatility, while Kazakhstan had high remittance growth but the lowest consumption growth. In Uzbekistan, consumption growth strongly correlated with GNI growth (0.872) and remittances (0.809), while inflation negatively correlated with both. Domestic credit showed strong positive links with GNI and remittances. The study highlights Uzbekistan’s relative resilience to remittance volatility, suggesting structural or alternative income sources that buffer household spending from external shocks. The results underscore the need for policies that stabilize income, control inflation, and expand access to credit to enhance the welfare and economic stability of remittance-receiving households, while future research should employ causal models to refine understanding of remittance-driven consumption dynamics

This study examines the role of Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs) in enhancing international trade and investment, with a specific focus on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). RTAs have become pivotal in shaping global trade dynamics by reducing trade barriers, harmonizing regulations, and fostering economic cooperation among member countries. The analysis highlights how RCEP facilitates market access, streamlines trade procedures, and encourages investment, thereby promoting regional economic growth and stability. This case study also sheds light on the challenges and opportunities presented by RCEP, offering insights into the broader implications of RTAs in the global trade landscape

The History of Irrigated Farming in Central Fergana Deserts (On The Example of 1951-1970)

Irrigation has historically played a pivotal role in transforming arid regions into productive agricultural zones, particularly within the Soviet Union’s strategic development plans across Central Asia. The Central Fergana desert region of Uzbekistan witnessed extensive irrigation efforts between 1951 and 1970, aimed at supporting cotton cultivation as part of the USSR’s broader economic agenda. Despite the importance of these interventions, comprehensive historical analyses of the organizational structures, financial mechanisms, and infrastructural advancements behind the Central Fergana irrigation projects remain limited. This study aims to examine the Soviet Union’s irrigation and land reclamation strategies in Central Fergana by analyzing archival materials and historical records, with a focus on the establishment and evolution of the Inter-Collective Farm Council and the construction of key water infrastructure. The findings reveal that the development of irrigation in Central Fergana was largely driven by collective farm investments and coordinated through specialized institutions such as “Ferganavodstroy.” The initiative progressed in three phases, culminating in the construction of the Great Andijan Canal, which significantly enhanced the irrigation capacity for over 140,000 hectares of land. This research highlights the Central Fergana irrigation campaign as a unique case where decentralized labor and financial resources from collective farms were mobilized for large-scale state-directed agricultural modernization. The study offers valuable insights into the socio-economic and institutional dynamics of Soviet-era land management, providing a historical precedent for current and future irrigation strategies in similarly arid and resource-dependent regions
