    Get PDF
In response to the absence of a module for academic writing courses in a multicultural classroom context and the problems of starting to write and finding ideas for academic writing, this research aims to develop an academic writing module that meets the teachers' and undergraduate students' needs and voices. This study employed ADDIE model of R&D carried out through some steps: need analysis, drafting, developing, implementing, and evaluating. In the steps of need analysis, students claimed that reading contributes to getting ideas and building background knowledge of a certain topic for writing. Brainstorming is another voice they proposed to solve the problems. Moreover, they believe that writing essays can be the starting point for writing journal articles. Accordingly, by considering all findings in the initial step, the products of this R&D comprise students’ and teachers’ books. The product's specific characteristics are reading preceding essay writing, brainstorming, the syllabus, the scoring rubric with a detailed description, and academic honesty. The study revealed that integrating active reading into academic writing modules can be pedagogically implemented and enhance both students’ reading and writing skills. The following studies on developing a module for other levels of education can be carried out to further contribute to reading-writing pedagogy

    Get PDF
Zakat and waqf are vital tools for poverty alleviation in Islamic countries. However, their management often fails to keep pace with technological advancements, so legality and good governance cannot be seen directly by the muzakki. In Indonesia, the largest Muslim-majority country, the digitalization of zakat and waqf has emerged as a significant reform, supported by regulations to improve transparency, accountability, and efficiency. This study examines the integration of corporate governance principles in digital zakat and waqf management, focusing on the regulatory framework that governs these practices. Employing normative legal research, this study analyzes Indonesia’s Zakat Management Law (No. 23 of 2011) and the Waqf Law (No. 31 of 2004), alongside case studies of digital zakat and waqf platforms. The findings highlight that these regulations mandate technology to enhance monitoring, reporting, and fund distribution. Adopting corporate governance frameworks, including digital fundraising, real-time tracking, and performance audits, has substantially increased public trust and participation in zakat and waqf. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as regulatory gaps in monitoring non-compliance and integrating private sector innovations. This research underscores the importance of strengthening regulatory oversight and adopting global best practices to optimize the socio-economic impact of zakat and waqf in Indonesia

This study aims to analyze the Islamic pedagogical strategies employed by IRE teachers in addressing students' low self-esteem at SMP Daarul Aitam Palembang. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. Research informants consisted of PAI teachers, class advisors, and students selected purposively until data saturation was achieved. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis techniques. The research results identified three main roles of PAI teachers: (1) as educators who instill Islamic values through tadabbur Al-Qur'an and internalization of Islamic self-concept; (2) as mentors who provide emotional guidance and informal counseling based on a spiritual approach; and (3) as role models (uswah hasanah) in religious behavior that builds a supportive environment. This research uses the type of field research with data collection methods through observation, interviews, and documentation and analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the “Outingclass Places of Worship” project became a bridge in building harmony of religious diversity in schools. This visit not only enriches students' insights but also strengthens the moderation values of tasamuh (tolerance), tahadhdhur (civilized), and musawah (equality). In addition, the role of religious teachers is inseparable in guiding students, providing role models, and ensuring the sustainability of moderation values in the project so that this research can be a reference for other schools in implementing religious moderation policies through the P5 program to create an inclusive, harmonious and tolerant school climate

    Get PDF
This study investigates how character education values are communicated and internalized through digital Islamic preaching on TikTok, focusing on the sermons of Gus Iqdam, an influential Indonesian preacher whose content resonates with millions of young followers. While his videos are widely consumed and celebrated for their humor and relatability, many audience members engage with the content passively, without translating the moral messages into real-life behavior. This research aims to explore the core character values conveyed in his digital sermons and assess their impact on audience comprehension and behavioral change. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through systematic content observation of selected TikTok sermons, semi-structured interviews with 50 active followers, and content analysis of the values embedded in the sermons. The findings reveal that Gus Iqdam promotes key moral values such as honesty, patience, empathy, respect, and responsibility through storytelling, humor, and everyday analogies. His casual language and culturally grounded delivery style serve as a bridge that connects moral lessons with the lived realities of young audiences. Interview data indicate that many followers felt personally influenced to reflect and act upon these values, although not all engagement led to transformation. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how digital religious content can function as a medium of informal moral education, offering valuable insights for educators, preachers, and digital content creators aiming to reach and impact today’s digital-native generation

This research aims to analyze the educational strategies implemented at Al-Kautsar Islamic Boarding School in shaping future leaders based on Islamic values. The main focus of this study includes three aspects: strengthening foreign languages, integration of religious and general subjects, and a contextual approach through evaluation and self-development of santri. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with caregivers, teachers, and santri, as well as observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which consists of three main steps, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that foreign language strengthening is carried out through language zone programs and international student exchanges. Santri are accustomed to using Arabic and English actively in daily life, which aims to form self-confidence and global da'wah abilities. This strategy creates an immersive environment that encourages natural and contextualized language use. The integration of religious and general studies is implemented by inserting Islamic values in science and technology materials, so that students are able to see science as part of the signs of Allah's greatness. Meanwhile, the contextual approach and evaluation system based on Islamic values are carried out through weekly muhasabah, moral evaluation, and continuous character building. This strategy plays an important role in shaping the personality of students who are disciplined, responsible, and have good character

    Get PDF
A peer group is an environment where people of the same age and status interact intensively and regularly. This environment can influence their academic achievement in both positive and negative ways. This also applies to 2nd-grade Tarbiyatul Mu’allimat al-Islamiyah (TMI) who often disturb their peers or talk too much during study hours, resulting in decreased concentration and unsatisfactory learning outcomes, with grades still below the passing standard. This article aims to determine how peers influence the learning outcomes of second-grade Tarbiyatul Mu’allimat al-Islamiyah (TMI) students at Al-Ikhlash Female Modern Islamic Boarding School. The research method used is quantitative, with a sample of 24 students from a total population of fewer than 30 students. Saturation sampling was used for sample selection, which is more appropriate in cases where the population is relatively small, specifically less than thirty. Data was collected through interviews using questionnaires. The research results show that peer influence is 53.7%, the coefficient of determination indicates an R Square value of 0.537, which indicates an influence of 53.7% between the peer variable (X) and the learning outcome variable (Y)
