No full textInternational audienceLes émotions, on s’en doute, ne sont pas des phénomènes biologiques figés. D’origine physique et psychique, elles sont enchevêtrées dans des dynamiques sociales, culturelles et historiques. Si l’on peut parler de crainte ou de joie, c’est dans un langage façonné en profondeur par l’histoire et la culture.Ce livre propose une exploration de cette « généalogie émotionnelle », à travers l’évolution des mots qui désignent nos états affectifs : de la joie à la colère, de l’amour à la peur, en passant par le mépris et la fierté. En retraçant leur étymologie, l’auteur nous invite à repenser leur complexité, leurs liens, et leur caractère changeant. How to Manage Venous Thromboembolism Risk during Pregnancy in Patients with Inherited Antithrombin Deficiency?
No full textInternational audienceInherited antithrombin deficiency (ATD) is associated with a high risk of venous thromboembolic complications. Association of ATD with other conditions such as pregnancy obviously increases thromboembolic risk and may require anticoagulant therapy for prevention. Although there are several/heterogenous international guidelines regarding thromboprophylaxis in pregnant patients with ATD, data on anticoagulant prophylaxis in this context are scarce in the literature. Thus, this situation remains a challenge both in the antepartum period and during delivery. Physicians from the French Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (SFTH) performed a review of the literature to suggest propositions regarding the management of thrombosis prevention based on anticoagulation and antithrombin substitution in ATD pregnant women. In this review, after reporting the thrombotic risk associated with ATD, the indication of anticoagulant therapy, its dosing regimen and monitoring, and the indication of antithrombin concentrates during pregnancy and the postpartum period are discussed as well as peripartum management. Finally, this work confirms the complex management of thrombotic prevention in pregnant patients with ATD. Indeed, it requires to take into account a multiplicity of features cited in our propositions that will hopefully provide some help in this field. This work also highlights the importance of multidisciplinary discussions for pregnant women with ATD who should be counseled in an expert center including hematologist, obstetrician, and anesthetist to optimize their management
Assessing writing practices in higher education: Characterizing self-reported practices and identifying their determinants
No full textInternational audienceResearch on academic writing has highlighted a number of factors that play important roles in writing in higher education. However, there is no consensus as to which of these factors are taken into consideration by university teachers when assessing their students’ writing. Thus, the present research is aimed at characterizing university teachers’ assessment practices for writing and their determinants, focussing on two specific contexts in South America. Based on data from questionnaires we carried out, we first identify teacher's profiles with respect to certain assessment criteria, and secondly determine individual (i.e., conceptions of writing, level of experience in teaching) and contextual (i.e., genre of texts) factors that might predict the variations in the teacher’s profiles. Cluster analysis followed by regression analysis revealed that two significantly different teacher profiles exist which are determined by the teachers’ conceptions and the genre of texts

Mental fatigue impairs endurance performance in a time-to-exhaustion handgrip task: psychophysiological markers of effort engagement dynamics
No full textInternational audienceA growing body of literature showed that mental fatigue induced by an effortful task leads to an impairment in a subsequent physical performance. The principal aim of this experimental study was to reproduce the effect of mental fatigue on endurance performance while investigating the effort deployment in the fatiguing and control tasks that precede the physical task. Methods Participants performed the following task sequence in a between-subjects design ( N = 16 in each group): a time-to-exhaustion handgrip task at 13% of maximal voluntary contraction, a 30-min mental task (Stroop task or documentary watching task) and the handgrip task again. Psychophysiological data were recorded on a continuous basis during the whole experiment. Results Mental fatigue was induced successfully: behavioral and psychophysiological data suggest gradual disengagement of effort in the fatiguing task but not in the control task (increased reaction time and error rate as the function of time in the Stroop task; higher mid-frontal theta during the Stroop task compared to the control task; decreased stimulus-locked theta rhythm over time during the Stroop task; increased low frequency heart rate variability during the Stroop task). In addition, performance decrement in the time to exhaustion handgrip task was larger after the Stroop task than after the documentary viewing task ( d = 0.818). Conclusion This study highlights the importance of assessing both performance and effort engagement to understand mental fatigue. Despite signs of effort disengagement during the Stroop task, mental fatigue still impaired the subsequent physical performance
Une consultation de santé sexuelle dédiée aux femmes en péri- et post-ménopause pourrait-elle devenir une des missions des infirmier(e)s délégués en santé publique dans le cadre du dispositif « Action de santé libérale en équipe » ? Enquête menée dans le Poitou-Charentes
No full textContexte : La santé sexuelle des femmes ménopausées reste largement taboue et insuffisamment prise en charge, malgré ses impacts majeurs sur la qualité de vie. Le dispositif ASALÉE, qui permet aux infirmier(e)s d’intervenir en prévention au sein des cabinets médicaux, pourrait constituer un levier pour combler cette lacune.Méthode : Une étude observationnelle, descriptive et transversale a été menée auprès des infirmier(e)s ASALÉE de la région Poitou-Charentes via un questionnaire en ligne anonyme. L’objectif principal était d’évaluer l’intérêt et la faisabilité d’une consultation dédiée à la santé sexuelle des femmes ménopausées. Résultats : 63 infirmier(e)s ont répondu (taux de réponse 50 %). 81 % estiment que la santé sexuelle des femmes ménopausées pourrait faire partie de leurs missions. Toutefois, 36 % ne se sentent pas à l’aise avec le sujet, citant un manque de connaissances ou de légitimité. Une très large majorité (92 %) réclame une formation préalable. Les thèmes jugés prioritaires : symptômes de la ménopause, sexualité, prévention des IST et des violences. 82 % déclarent avoir accès à un réseau pluridisciplinaire, et 46 répondants sont favorables à des supports pédagogiques (dépliants, applications).Conclusion : La santé sexuelle des femmes en péri- et post-ménopause est un enjeu de santé publique. Les infirmier(e)s ASALÉE sont en position idéale pour initier des consultations dédiées, à condition de bénéficier d’un accompagnement adapté

Si la résilience de l’estuaire de la Seine s’explique d’abord par l’importance et le dynamisme du bassin économique et démographique parisien, dans le cas de Marseille les causes sont plus complexes. Prediction of head losses for clogged inclined narrow bar rack system
No full textInternational audienceThe increase in energy production requirements with the urgent need to limit climate change and protect biodiversity has led to a continuous upgrade of hydroelectric stations. The implementation of new systems that ensure downstream migration may result in production losses caused by accumulation of small debris on the inclined bar rack system. To anticipate these losses, experimental measurements were conducted for a wide range of inclined bar racks and clogging surfaces by using artificial surfaces to mimic natural clogging. The evolution of head loss, as influenced by various parameters, has highlighted the significance of clogging effects. A novel physical approach has been developed to predict the losses using deviation of the flow causing by partial clogging and an association of losses. The analytical formulation improves the predicted results for all the tested configurations. This works will assist in the comprehension and anticipation of losses for such systems
