Ils permettent de cartographier la pauvreté économique. Pour cette seconde planche sur la pauvreté à l’échelle de l’Aire d’Attraction de la Ville et de la ville d’Angers, nous proposons une typologie des carreaux avec plus de 18% de pauvreté dans l’aire d’attraction et la ville angevine: cela représente le double de la moyenne départementale en 2020 et 15% des carreaux du département

Asbestos exposure, pleural plaques and digestive cancers
No full textInternational audienceBackground: The aim of this study was to analyse the incidence and mortality from various digestive cancer sites and their potential link with pleural plaques, in a French cohort of workers previously occupationally exposed to asbestos.Methods: We conducted a 10-year follow-up study in 13,481 male subjects, included in the cohort between October 2003 and December 2005, for whom asbestos exposure was assessed by calculation of a cumulative exposure index (CEI) in equivalent fibres.years/mL for each subject. We conducted an incidence study and a mortality study. Complementary analysis was restricted to men who had performed at least one chest CT-scan (N = 4,794). We used a Cox model with age as the time axis variable, adjusted for smoking, time since first exposure (TSFE), CEI to asbestos and the existence of pleural plaques on CT-scan.Results: In the incidence study, a significant dose-response relationship was observed between CEI to asbestos and oesophageal cancer (HR 1.03, 95% CI [1.01-1.06]) in the entire cohort after adjustment for TSFE and smoking status. In subjects undergoing CT-scan, a significant association between pleural plaques was observed for oesophageal cancer incidence (HR 2.80, 95% CI [1.09-7.20]) and in the mortality study, multivariate analyses showed a significant dose-effect response between CEI to asbestos and death from oesophageal cancer (HR 1.03, 95% CI [1.00-1.05]) in the entire cohort.Conclusions: This large-scale study confirms results concerning a likely relationship between asbestos exposure and oesophageal cancer, and the association between this cancer and pleural plaques after adjustment on CEI to asbestos

Although efforts to identify the effectors of its unique pathogenic behavior have been insightful, the role of the high-osmolarity glycerol (HOG) pathway in this context remains unexplored. The study by Shivarathri and co-workers (R. Shivarathri, M. Chauhan, A. Datta, D. Das et al., mBio 15:e02748-24, 2024, https://doi.org/10.1128/mbio.02748-24 ) sought to address this gap. This report indeed advances our understanding of the critical role of the HOG pathway in C. auris pathogenicity by emphasizing its involvement in skin colonization, biofilm formation, and evasion of phagocyte attack

Structural analysis and sequential resolution for estimation of guaranteed horizons in Partially Observable Petri Nets
No full textInternational audienceIn Partially Observable Petri Nets, a necessary parameter is the guaranteed horizon, which allows the modelling of the estimation problem with the counter form and can be exploited in estimation for any linear criterion: a problem is the online estimation of the guaranteed horizon, which is a maximum sequence length relevant to a sliding horizon or a receding horizon starting from the initial marking. Considering large scale Petri nets, the objective of this paper is to facilitate the resolution by the construction of a triangular form guiding a sequential resolution of the problem based on substructures. This study shows that the classical Dulmage-Mendelsohn decomposition can be applied to a class of Petri nets where the unobservable induced Petri Net is mainly Forward Conflict Free. An extension of this result to any Petri net based on the building of an associated Petri net is made.</div
