Professors’ Feedback Strategies for Correcting Syntactic Errors in EFL Students’ Writing: A Qualitative Study
Effective feedback is a cornerstone of second language writing instruction, particularly in addressing syntactic errors that hinder students’ linguistic development and communicative competence. This study investigates the strategies employed by university EFL professors to correct syntactic errors in students’ written compositions. Using a qualitative research design, semi-structured interviews were conducted with twelve EFL professors from diverse non-native English-speaking university contexts. Data were analysed using thematic coding in NVivo software, revealing four primary feedback strategies: direct correction and explanation, encouragement fostering autonomous learning, individualized feedback tailored to student needs, and varied feedback approaches. The study situates these strategies within the theoretical frameworks of interlanguage theory and error analysis, highlighting their effectiveness in promoting both syntactic accuracy and learner autonomy. Implications for EFL pedagogy, curriculum design, and teacher training programs are discussed, emphasizing the importance of adaptive, student-centered feedback practices

Analyzing the concept of incompleteness and ambiguity of norms in formal testing of laws at the constitutional court
The effectiveness, fairness, and legal certainty of Indonesia’s constitutional system are significantly undermined by the inadequacy and ambiguity of legislative standards. Deficiencies in legislative drafting, such as insufficient regulatory provisions and vague legal language, often contribute to this issue. This research examines the role of the Constitutional Court in addressing the incompleteness and ambiguity of legal norms through formal judicial review. By employing a normative legal research methodology with a descriptive-analytical approach, this study analyzes constitutional provisions and selected Constitutional Court decisions, including the judicial review of the Job Creation Law and the Revision of the Corruption Eradication Commission Law. The findings underscore the Constitutional Court’s pivotal role in safeguarding constitutional supremacy by providing interpretative guidance for unclear or incomplete legal standards. The Court has successfully identified procedural deficiencies in the legislative process that compromise transparency and public participation, as exemplified in Decision Number 91/PUU-XVIII/2020 concerning the Job Creation Law. However, this interpretative function frequently raises concerns about the limits of the Court’s jurisdiction. This study argues that legislative reform is imperative to minimize the occurrence of incomplete and ambiguous norms. It advocates for the enhancement of legislative drafting quality, the professionalization of legislators, and the reinforcement of public participation mechanisms. This research contributes to the broader discourse on the Constitutional Court’s function in mitigating systemic legislative deficiencies and fostering a more inclusive, responsive, and constitutionally grounded legal framework
Comparative Study of Chinese and Western Cultural Heritage Reporting: A CDS Perspective
As an important field for cross-cultural communication, the discourse construction of cultural heritage news reporting plays a not inconsiderable role in reflecting the value orientation and cultural concepts of different civilizations. The present study aims to conduct a comparative study of Chinese and Western cultural heritage reporting by exploring the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western media in terms of thematic content, discourse subjects and communication purposes, based on the framework of cultural discourse studies, while also analyzing the underlying cultural and historical factors as well as their engagement in international communication. The study adopts a quantitative and qualitative combined method, and data are collected from the heritage-related news reports in such influential media as China Daily, The New York Times, and the British Broadcasting Corporation during a time span from 2020 to 2025. Results show that while both Chinese and western media pay attention to the sustainable development of cultural heritage, Chinese media tend to combine cultural heritage with national identity, traditional festivals and tourism development, emphasizing cultural continuity and national pride, and the communication strategy is dominated by official narrative; on the other hand, western media pay more attention to the global sharing, modern application, and market value of cultural heritage, and their communication strategies highlight diversified narratives and individual experiences. Those similarities and differences in discourse construction patterns are deeply influenced by their respective cultural and historical backgrounds. The study offers some insights for the different discourse patterns between Chinese and Western media in cultural heritage reporting, providing new theoretical support and practical inspiration for the international communication of cultural heritage
