Non-STEM Engineering Bridging Program through the Lens of ABCD Evaluation Model
Higher institutions offer bridging programs to address challenges experienced by senior high school graduates. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the bridging program for non-STEM Engineering students in terms of its process and operations, results, and impact using Ochave’s ABCD Model. This study utilized a descriptive-evaluative design involving Engineering students selected using convenience sampling. The quantitative data were gathered through a questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean. On the other hand, a semi-structured interview was employed to collect qualitative insights and further analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings revealed that the students are satisfied with the learning resources, curriculum, and instructional strategies employed during their bridging program. Furthermore, data show that the bridging program is perceived to be good in relation to the students’ knowledge acquired, skills developed, and perceived readiness. Moreover, the bridging program has a positive impact on the satisfactory performance of the students in their Engineering courses as well as on the department’s increasing retention rate. To further optimize the program's effectiveness, this study recommends updating learning resources, managing instructional pacing, and expanding the duration of the bridging program
An Assessment on the Intercultural Sensitivity of Students: A Convergent Parallel Study
The purpose of the study is to describe the level of cultural sensitivity and the lived experiences of students in a local college in developing intercultural sensitivity. Moreover, it aims to investigate the approaches their students take in attempting to enhance their intercultural sensitivity relating to academic work within 166 participants. This study employs a mixed method design. The results indicate high levels of intercultural sensitivity, cultural competence and cultural identity. Additionally, there are important associations between cultural identity and intercultural sensitivity, culture competency and cultural identity, and lastly between intercultural sensitivity and cultural competence. Furthermore, the research indicates that cultural identity acts as a partial mediator on the relationship between intercultural sensitivity and cultural competence. In simpler terms, teachers with stronger cultural identities tend to have greater levels of intercultural sensitivity and multicultural competencies. Students who possess strong well-developed cultural identities can better appreciate diverse cultures and interact thoughtfully with students from different backgrounds
An Ecolinguistic Study on the Winning Answers of Miss Earth Candidates: Language Use in Focus
The purpose of this study was to examine the morpho-semantic features and ecological ideologies embedded in the winning responses of Miss Earth candidates. Specifically, it aimed to analyze how language is used to promote environmental advocacy through structured speech. This study employed a qualitative research design using discourse analysis as its primary method. The data consisted of 51 responses from Miss Earth candidates, which were analyzed to identify linguistic patterns and ideological content. The findings revealed that the candidates' responses exhibited a range of morphological and semantic features, such as affixation, compounding, conversion and the use of abstract environmental terms, which contributed to the clarity and persuasiveness of their advocacies. Furthermore, three categories of ecological ideologies emerged from the analysis: acquired ideology (influenced by personal and cultural background), expressed ideology (conveyed explicitly in their statements), and propagated ideology (intended to influence others). These ideologies reflected not only the candidates’ environmental beliefs but also their alignment with global sustainability narratives. In conclusion, the study demonstrates how the strategic use of language in beauty pageants like Miss Earth can serve as a powerful tool for communicating environmental awareness and inspiring global action. The results underscore the importance of examining advocacy discourse to better understand how language shapes public engagement with ecological issues
A Mixed- methods Approach on Second Language Motivational Self- system among English Major Students
This study aimed to explore the lived experiences and second language motivational self- system (L2MSS) of English major students at a local college in Kapalong, Davao del Norte. Employing a convergent parallel mixed-methods design, the study involved quantitative and qualitative data gathering. Of the 185 students taking up the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English, they were randomly chosen for the survey, and conducted interviews and focus group discussions with 14 purposively chosen participants. Quantitative results revealed a generally high level of second language motivation among participants. Thematic analysis of qualitative data uncovered key themes, including personal and professional growth through language learning, the influence of psycho-social factors, and common challenges such as fear of making mistakes, grammar difficulties, and limited practice opportunities that hinder confidence. The alignment between quantitative and qualitative findings reinforced the reliability of the results. Findings informed the recommendation of workshops as an intervention strategy, along with practical suggestions for future implementation

A Mixed-Methods Study on the Teaching Style of KCAST Mathematics Instructors from the Perspective of Education Students
This study aimed to identify the perception of education students about the teaching styles of mathematics teachers in terms of learning experiences and engagements at KCAST. For this analysis, a concurrent parallel mixed-method design was adopted, with the integration of quantitative and qualitative data. The Likert-scale questionnaire used had already been validated to measure five teaching styles: authority, delegator, demonstrator, facilitator, and hybrid. From the quantitative analysis, all teaching styles were rated highly, though the hybrid teaching style received the highest mean score, followed by facilitator and demonstrator styles. This attests to the flexibility in the way mathematics teachers deliver lessons, using one method or another depending on the time and the situation. Themes that emerged in the qualitative findings through FGDs and IDIs were adaptive learning strategies, enhanced student engagement, and optimization of teaching methods to attain appropriate classroom interaction. Merging the two sets of findings shows that the diversity and adaptability of teaching styles facilitate the students' active participation, collaboration, and critical thinking. In the end, the study concludes that good mathematics teaching requires a balance of structured, teacher-centered activities with interactive, student-centered learning to highlight meaningful and independent learning processes
