foreign policy objectives in regions adjacent to Afghanistan. States with vested
interests in Afghanistan are broadly divided into two camps, each conditional. On
the one hand, a group of Western states faces challenges in engaging with and
recognizing the Taliban government; on the other hand, regional powers are
attempting to fill the strategic vacuum left by the United States and its allies by

Relationship of Nursing Students’ Academic Resilience and Performance in Nursing Prerequisite Courses
No full textThis study explored the relationship between academic resilience and performance of first-year nursing students enrolled in prerequisite courses at a state university extension campus in Bulacan. It focused on three dimensions of resilience—perseverance, adaptive reflection, and emotional response—and examined students’ performance in anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, and theoretical foundations of nursing. A descriptive-correlational design was utilized, with universal sampling applied to include all 87 first-year nursing students. The results showed that students demonstrated very high levels of perseverance and adaptive reflection, coupled with low negative emotional responses. Academic performance was strongest in the theoretical foundations of nursing, where most students attained higher grades. Analysis revealed no significant differences in academic resilience and performance when grouped by sex. However, a moderate positive correlation emerged between academic resilience and performance, indicating that stronger resilience is associated with better academic outcomes. The findings highlighted that resilience, particularly perseverance and adaptive reflection, contributed meaningfully to nursing students’ academic success. While sex-based differences were not observed, the study underscored the importance of resilience-building programs as a strategy to enhance student well-being and educational achievement in nursing
Dimensions of Academic Buoyancy Contributing to Mathematical Competency among Freshmen University Students
No full textThe study assessed the extent of manifestation of academic buoyancy of students in the course Mathematics in the Modern World. Descriptive-correlational research design was utilized in describing academic buoyancy and mathematical competency. The respondents of this study were a total of 732 composed of 368 college students from public state universities and colleges plus 364 from private colleges in Oriental Mindoro. This study used survey questionnaires as the main tool in data gathering. Descriptive statistics such as weighted mean, standard deviation and a four-point rating scale were employed in treating the data gathered. Regression was used in determining how dimensions of academic buoyancy that predict mathematical competency. Regression analysis revealed that academic buoyancy variables such as commitment, composure, coordination, and confidence were all significant predictors of mathematical competency. Demystifying Sorrows and Pain: Lexico- semantic Analysis of Philippine Songs in English about Death
No full textThis study conducted a comprehensive lexico-semantic analysis of Philippine songs in English that are thematically centered on death. Using a qualitative corpus-based approach, the research aimed to examine the morphological and semantic elements, explore the literary features, and identify the prevailing themes embedded in the song lyrics. A total of twenty-five (25) songs were carefully selected and analyzed to uncover deeper meanings and patterns within the language used. The findings revealed that these songs utilize a variety of morphological processes, such as affixation, compounding, and inflection as well as semantic strategies that shape how words are formed and how meaning is constructed and conveyed. In addition to these linguistic elements, the study also highlighted the presence of literary techniques, including imagery, symbolism, metaphor, and repetition, which enrich the emotional and stylistic expression of the lyrics. While grief emerged as a dominant theme, the songs also conveyed powerful messages of comfort, faith, resilience, and hope. These themes are particularly significant as they provide a meaningful avenue for artistic and emotional expression. These songs are important because they offer an opportunity for artistic creativity and create important support for people experiencing all aspects of loss and grief, and additionally contribute to the varied content of Filipino music
Grade Six Minds at Work: A Dual- approach Study on the Cognitive Efficiency of Fast Learners Section
No full textThis study explored the cognitive efficiency of Grade 6 fast learners, examining how engagement, effort, and persistence contribute to their academic performance. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach with a convergent parallel design, the research integrated quantitative data from 67 respondents who completed structured questionnaires and qualitative insights from 14 participants, including 7 in-depth interviews and 7 focus group discussions. The results indicated that fast learners demonstrate cognitive efficiency in their ability to focus on the task, persevere through the task, and be engaged while they learn. In addition, fast learners could still enter a sustained flow of cognition even while environmental disturbances occurred and lessons moved too fast through the curriculum space. The study identified the need for buildÉd learning environments that are statistically efficient in motivating fast learners via self-directed learning styles and strategies. Best practices identified in the literature review include teacher support, engagement strategies for fast learners, and use of metacognitive strategies to enhance fast learners' learning experiences
