    The French origins of the De La Salle Christian Brothers made Memphis in May's 1990 tribute to France of particular interest. A flag reading "Christian Brothers University ... Avec les Freres" flew over Buckman Quadrangle for a Paris Street Fete. The flag partially obscures the replica Eiffel Tower built by Engineering students.     Dr. Pu-Ning Sun in His Office

    Dr. Pu-Ning Sun was chairman of the Mechanical Engineering department at Christian Brothers College in 1964. He was awarded the title “Engineer of the Year” by the Memphis Branch of the American Society of mechanical Engineers in 1968. Later in his CBC career, he coordinated a new professional development degree program in engineering. It was the such only program offered in the South and fourth offered in the nation. In 1974, Dr. Sun was named Outstanding Educator in America and was one of the 93 people to receive a science faculty fellowship. He continued to host contests for students to test their creative engineering abilities; eventually, he became nationally known for his design contests. After 29 years as a mechanical engineer and professor at Christian Brothers University, Dr. Sun retired in 1993
