Beginning in 1977, the Memphis in May International Festival has celebrated the cultures of different countries each year.     From left to right, Russell ‘Deek’ Hensley, Dr. Siripong Malasri, Dr. Bryan Carne, and Dr. Juan Carlos Olabe appear to be having a meeting. They were likely discussing engineering or telecommunications. Hensley was the executive director of Christian Brothers College’s telecommunications center. Dr. Siripong Malasri, throughout his time at Christian Brothers University, was a professor and chairman of the civil engineering department, chairman of the environmental engineering department, chair of the packaging program, and the dean of the school of engineering. Dr. Bryan Carne earned his doctorate in electrical engineering and was appointed BellSouth Distinguished Visiting Professor of Telecommunications and Information Systems at CBC. Dr. Juan Carlos Olabe was chairman of the electrical engineering department at Christian Brothers University. In 1989, the same year the photo was taken, Hensley and his work study students helped the Memphis Museums spread awareness for a program videoing the floor of the Mediterranean Sea, Dr. Malasri and Dr. Olabe were writing and publishing several engineering papers, and Dr. Carne was appointed Distinguished Visiting Professor

In 1989, Mother Teresa received the Peace and Justice Award from CBC for her dedication to underprivileged people.
