    Dr. Frank Buscher, born in Germany, taught history at CBU from 1988-2006. In the 1990s, he utilized his skills as a historian to investigate German police from 1942 Nazi Germany with the Canadian Department of Justice’s war crimes division while also teaching history at CBU. By 1999, he became Chairman of the History Department at CBU. He later became the Dean of Academic Services, Vice President of Academic Affairs in 2008, and Vice President of Student Life in 2010. In 2016, he left CBU, ending his tenure as a history professor

    Sister Helen Prejean wrote Dead Man Walking, which was later turned into an award-winning movie and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, about her experiences as a spiritual advisor to men on death row and how capital punishment was costlier than life in prison. In 1996, she spoke about her book on stage at Christian Brothers University. Four years later, Sister Helen received the Peace and Justice award from CBU and continued to speak about her passion for ending the death penalty and raise money for the Memphis Dismas House. In 2006, Sister Helen returned to CBU to speak at an event sponsored by the M.K Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and the National Civil Rights Museum
