The Smurfs #8: The Smurf Apprentice
A smurf wants to emulate Papa Smurf, and decides the best way to do so would be to practice magic. So, the smurf sneaks into Gargamel’s lab and steals instructions for a magic potion. The smurf foolishly drinks the potion and is turned into a monstrous lizard that all of the smurfs fear. Can Papa Smurf create an antidote? Or will the Smurfs be seeing green for the rest of their lives? Also featuring the stories “Smurftraps” and “Halloween.
CT calcium score testing for early detection of coronary artery disease: A clinical case report
Heart disease, a leading cause of mortality globally, can impact individuals with and without symptoms. CT coronary artery calcium scoring is a reliable assessment, that guides preventive treatment. This clinical case report demonstrates secondary prevention in an asymptomatic male, with a history of gastroesophageal reflux, obesity, and relevant family history
The Characterization and Evolution of Strategies about Vector Equations in the game Vector Unknown
We present results of a grounded analysis of individual interviews in which students play Vector Unknown — a digital game designed to introduce visualizing vectors, scaling vectors, vector addition, and vector equations, attending to the geometric and algebraic representations of vectors. The game was designed to be used at the beginning of a linear algebra course, and participants in the study were students who had not previously taken such a course. We categorize the strategies the students employed while playing the game and analyze how these strategies evolved throughout the students’ gameplaying. They range from less anticipatory button-pushing to more sophisticated strategies based on approximating solutions and choosing vectors based on their direction. We found that student focus alternated between numerical and geometric aspects of the game interface, which provided additional insight into their strategies. These results have provided revisions to the game and also informed our team’s plans for incorporating it into classroom instruction
The Châteaux of the Loire
Pernicious anemia: A case report of diligence and perseverance to diagnosis
The symptoms of pernicious anemia might resemble those of other common disorders and can be nonspecific, requiring extensive diagnostic workups. The provider must be aware of the harm pernicious anemia can do if undiagnosed and untreated and understand that diligence and persistence are crucial for an accurate diagnosis
“Remembering Jacqueline Anne Rouse, 1950-2020: Scholarship, Educational Advocacy, and Mentoring as Audacious Leadership”
“Remembering Jacqueline Anne Rouse, 1950-2020: Scholarship, Educational Advocacy, and Mentoring as Audacious Leadership” commemorates the life and work of a Black women's history trailblazer. The purpose of this article is to examine Rouse’s legacies of pioneering scholarship, educational advocacy, and strong mentorship. These elements arose from what the authors term “audacious” leadership. This model is based on historian Deborah Gray White's descriptions of vanguard Black women history makers of the past century

Statistical Prediction of Changes in Water Resources Trends Based on Set Pair Analysis
Antecedent physical factors are used in calculations, which endowed set pair analysis with predictive abilities. Set pair analysis can make predictions based on calculations using antecedent physical factors. In this study, the fitted value Yˆ1 based on set pair analysis agreed with the actual value of the average annual discharge grade at Yamadu Station, which showed that the prediction was valid. It’s predicted that the average annual discharge at Yamadu Station in 1975 was a dry year, i.e. y < 385 m3/s, while the actual average annual discharge at Yamadu Station in 1975 was 301 m3/s, which confirmed the prediction that it was a dry year. Three physical factors were not processed using set pair analysis so they could be compared with the calculated results. These factors were used directly to establish a regression equation for the average annual discharge grade and obtained a fitted value of Yˆ3 for the average annual discharge grade at Yamadu Station during 1953–1974. It’s known that the prediction of the average annual discharge grade for 1966 using a regression equation derived from the data differed from the actual situation, thereby indicating that set pair analysis can be used to improve the accuracy of predictions
Rohan at the Louvre
Stunning illustrations depict an original fantasy story in this captivating graphic novel. As Rohan, a young Japanese manga artist, is drawing, he meets a mysterious, beautiful woman who tells him of a cursed 200-year-old painting. The painting was created using the blackest ink ever known, which came from a 1,000-year-old tree that the painter had cut down without the approval of the Emperor. The painter was executed for this, but the painting was saved from destruction by a curator of the Louvre. A decade later, Rohan visits Paris and asks the museum to unearth the painting from deep within its archives—but he is completely unprepared for the power of the curse he has unleashed
