NEILL, DAVID RICHARD, March 27, 2015 David Richard (Dick) Neill, 83, died at home in the company and care of his 
family. Dick was born in Rochester, New York. He graduated from The University of Rochester with a B.S. in Business 
Administration and earned a Masters of Divinity Degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. He married his wife 
Diane in 1957. Dick always served others throughout his many years. He started his career as a Minister to migrant 
workers in New York. He served as Pastor at Charlotte (Vermont) U.C.C. Church before moving his family to Hawaii in 
1961. He was the Pastor at Kahikuonalani U.C.C. Church in Pearl City from 1961 to 1966. After he left the ministry he 
worked as Executive Director of Hawaii Council for Housing Action (HCHA) & HCHA Model Cities Housing Development 
Corporation to build affordable housing in Hawaii (1966 to 1971). He then moved to New Hampshire to work as the 
Executive Director of the New England Non Profit Housing Development Corporation from 1971 to 1976. Its mission 
was to help low income families with winterizing homes and developing affordable senior homes. The Neills' realized 
that they missed Hawaii after living in New Hampshire for 3 years and moved back in 1975. From 1976 to 1978, Dick 
worked as Chief Clerk of Hawaii, State Senate Energy Committee (Chairman Senator T.C. Yim) on obtaining funding for 
renewable energies. In 1978, he became a Program Manager at The University of Hawaii's Hawaii Natural Energy 
Institute (HNEI) for renewable energy projects such as wind, solar, geothermal, photovoltaic and electric vehicles. He 
worked at HNEI for nearly 15 years. While at HNEI he also assisted over 20 Chinese students and scholars to study at 
the University of Hawaii. Dick later formed his own company to continue his efforts on various international projects. 
From 2000 to 2007 he was a Hotel Manager. He is survived by his wife Diane, his children David, Kathy, Lani, John and 
Michael, 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Services in celebration of Dick's life will be held at Crossroads U.C.C. 
Church on April 18, 2015 at 2 pm (visitation from 1:30 pm to 2 pm, casual attire). In lieu of flowers, contributions can 
be made to a charity such as Church of the Crossroads, Institute of Human Services and Waikiki Health. The family 
wishes to thank the personnel at Kaiser, Hospice Hawaii and Kalisi for the care Dick received. [Honolulu Star-Advertiser

wear, and the Honolulu academy of arts. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea, and was an 
active volunteer at the St. James thrift shop. Lydia is survived by her husband David h. McCoy of Waimea, her son 
David H. McCoy Jr. also of Waimea, and her daughter Mackenzie m. McCoy of San Francisco. She is also survived by her 
sister Olga Awana of Sequim Washington, and her mother Margaret C. Myers of west hills California. Lydia was an 
outgoing person who loved people and could recite the names and ages of children of waiters, friends, and just about 
everyone she met. She was also devoted to her family both immediate and extended. She regularly corresponded with 
cousins, aunts, and a wide variety of friends. Lydia was also a very strong supporter of the San Francisco giants. She 
knew each player’s name and all their performance statistics. She watched over one hundred games a year, and basked 
in their success. All those who knew her will miss her friendliness, her upbeat personality, and her love of life.

MCKIBBIN, SHEILA CREMINS DEPASQUALE, March 31, 1926 – July 15, 2015, passed peacefully into God's hands on July 
15 in Pinehurst, North Carolina after a heroic battle with brain cancer. Sheila was preceded by the love of her life and 
husband, George and recently by her eldest son, Pete. She is survived by her seven children, Michael, Sheila, Adrian, 
Angus, Sean, Claudia, and Owen as well as their spouses, ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Sheila grew 
up in Westchester, New York, with her parents Eugene and Sheila dePasquale and was the eldest of six children. An 
avid swimmer and diver, she was taught to swim by Johnny Weissmuller. Sheila graduated from Cornell University in 
1947 with a BA in English and was a proud sister of the Alpha Phi sorority. She went on to get her Master's degree in 
Education from Hofstra University. George McKibbin charmed and changed her life forever. After eight children, they 
built their dream home in Brookville, New York. Surrounded by a forest, they had a baseball field, basketball court, and 
a log cabin for all their children. It was a magical life, full of fun, love, and endless laughter. Her husband's sudden 
passing in 1966 at the young age of 41 led to the temporary move to Hawaii. Sheila felt that the loss they sustained 
was too much to bear and a change of scenery was desperately needed. Her brother, Gene, went to college at Kansas 
State and had formed a great and enduring friendship with his fellow football teammate who happened to be from 
Honolulu. Eddie Hamada, known to us as Uncle Eddie, was Gene's roommate and they became close and life-long 
friends. Uncle Eddie would work at their father's business on Long Island during college breaks and he and Sheila 
became friends. Sheila contacted Eddie and made the plan to move to Hawaii. Another charmed life bloomedgreat 
friends and amazing schools eased the pain and it became their permanent home. Starting her career at the age of 47, 
'Iolani School gave her the opportunity to teach for 32 years. After stints of English, World History, and Geography. 
Sheila retired at the age of 79. She loved to impart knowledge and help her students to achieve not only academic 
success but garner a sense of pride and integrity in all of their pursuits. Sheila valued education above all else and was 
so grateful to have had her children graduate from Iolani, Punahou, HPA, and Mid-Pac as well as numerous colleges 
and Universities. She gave unselfishly of her time, counseling many to have a strong sense of self and faith. Sheila 
helped her students believe in themselves so they could take the risks necessary to realize their goals and potential. 
For the greater part of her children's lives, Sheila was their only parent. She made all of her children feel as though they 
were her only child. She could be found behind the soccer goal, cheering on Angus to protect the goal, at the pool 
rooting for Sheila, at the track for Pete and Claudia, on the soccer field with Adrian, Michael, and Owen, and at the 
tennis courts pulling for Sean. She worked tirelessly, never complained, loved everyone around her, taught and 
inspired with her unconditional love, compassion, respect, honesty, and integrity. She loved and adored her family, 
numerous friends and students and they loved her right back. A precious soul and role model, the world was and is a 
much better place because of the way she chose to live. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 14th at 1:30 p.m. at 
Star of the Sea Church, where Sheila was a parishioner. A memorial mass will begin at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of 
Sheila's life will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 8:00 a.m. at Outrigger Canoe Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to 
be made payable to Iolani School, 563 Kamoku Street, Honolulu, HI 96826; please note the donation to: The Sheila
